First Choice was founded as a combination of three existing dental practices (our West Madison, Downtown Madison, and East Madison clinics) that joined together to operate as one. First Choice grew steadily though the late 90s, adding the UW-Madison Campus and Fitchburg locations. In 2000, the original Downtown Madison clinic was demolished and re-built from scratch. This office would serve as the blueprint for the next phase of First Choices growth.
Beginning in 2000 with the rebuild of the Downtown Madison clinic, First Choice embarked on a period of steady growth fueled by de novo expansion. In 2002, we opened the Verona clinic, which contained centralized corporate offices to house the companys growing clinical support team. The Middleton office opened in 2003, followed by the Sun Prairie office in 2007. In 2008, the ownership group hired a Chief Financial Officer, the Companys first executive-level management team member, to oversee clinical support functions. Hiring a CFO would set the stage for the next phase of growth for First Choice.
Rather than operate as a network of loosely affiliated clinics, as many competitors do, First Choices stakeholders decided that centralization and standardization were necessary to ensure a consistent patient experience. Against the backdrop of the Great Recession, stakeholders worked to perfect the First Choice model, including the addition of in-house specialists, before continuing to grow. In 2013 we opened our Waunakee office, and in 2015 we relocated our clinical support function to a dedicated business office on Madisons west side. 2017 was a big year for First Choice; we added two new clinics, Sun Prairie North (our second Sun Prairie clinic) and Stoughton, bringing our total clinic count to 11.
With 11 clinics in Dane County and industry-leading patient satisfaction, First Choice Dentals stakeholders turned their attention inward, with the aim of creating the best employee experience in dentistry by focusing on employee engagement, diversity, inclusion, and pay equity. First Choice has many more initiatives planned for the near future. The goal is for First Choice Dental to be the #1 choice for doctors, hygienists, and administrative staff. It is the belief of First Choice Dental that great employee experiences help to create even better experiences for our patients.

Love love this dentist! And I really hate dental work! Dr Hassan and the entire staff are so welcoming, kind and gentle I don't dread the dentist anymore. I can't say enough about how gentle Dr Hassan is, and how friendly the staff is. Thanks you guys!! Big thumbs up for this office!

I saw Dr. Lee in Waunakee. It was the best experience with dental issues I have had. He was informative, kind and gentle. I expected pain, bruising and swelling the day after, and hardly anything. Kudos to Dr. Lee.

I received the upmost, marvelous treatment here from beginning to end! The Receptionists were so sweet and welcoming! Dr. Kawas and Lucy were amazing. Our daughter had her wisdom teeth out at the Waunakee First Choice Dental and our experience was extremely great! Dr. Kawas and his staff was very attentive, friendly, and kind. I have struggled to find many doctors these days that are attentive to your needs, and listen to the patient, but not in this case. My daughter struggled with pain the first week after removal of her teeth and Dr. Kawas was a text message away and quick to respond with help. Thank you First Choice Dental for a great experience.

First choice Dental is awesome! I had been suffering for quite a few weeks with teeth pain, my pain worsened and they were able to squeeze me in yesterday morning for a diagnosis and treatment if it was necessary. It was necessary. I had a much needed root canal and today I'm sitting here almost pain free, just the healing pain now. Dr Lee and his assistant were very caring with me, helping me through the root canal process and always making sure I was ok. I was referred there by my dentist and I highly recommend if you need them.

We went to First Choice Dental because our dental insurance changed through employment. My son needed his wisdom teeth surgically removed and as a new patient everyone went above and beyond. The care that my son received from Dr. Sami Kawas and his team was amazing. As someone who has had a fear of dentists from horrible childhood experiences, I cannot thank everyone enough for making us feel welcomed and cared for!

I was extremely nervous about getting my wisdom teeth out. Dr. Sami Kwas and his technicians took an extra hour to make sure I was comfortable and stopped the procedure before the third tooth so the healing process is easier. Dr. Kwas even texted and called me later that day to check up on me. I highly recommend him!

I had my wisdom teeth removed here & although I was extremely nervous, they made me feel really comfortable and explained everything in great detail. I was super nervous about the healing process & they were there to answer my questions promptly even after closing hours. I woke up the next day in virtually no pain. I would recommend this place and Dr. Kawas to anyone getting wisdom tooth removal.

I highly recommend Dr. Kawas for any oral surgery work at First Choice Dental in Waunakee. I had a procedure yesterday and he followed up with a text to see how I was doing. Got my wisdom teeth removed here, good experience overall. Staff was pleasant and walked me through the whole process. Only problem was that they forgot to give me an item for my post-op care (a syringe for mouthwashing) before they discharged me, but when I let them know, they were responsive in fixing that problem and sending me a replacement. Would recommend this place.

Dr.Kawas removed our daughter's wisdom teeth earlier today. He is not only a highly capable surgeon but also has a fantastic bedside manner and provides excellent patient (customer) service. He provided his cell phone number in case we had questions or complications; spent a considerable amount of post-op time discussing in detail her follow-up care, AND called my daughter AND me this evening to discuss how she was doing and to reinforce her care plan. MOST IMPORTANTLY, Dr. Kawas provided NON-OPIOD pain medications. NOBODY is guaranteed to remain addiction-free even after a short stint on those things, and Dr. Kawas did not takes that risk seriously. I cannot recommend him more highly than I do. Thank you, Dr. Kawas. I only regret that we have no more wisdom teeth left in our house or we'd be back very soon. :)
