First Choice was founded as a combination of three existing dental practices (our West Madison, Downtown Madison, and East Madison clinics) that joined together to operate as one. First Choice grew steadily though the late 90s, adding the UW-Madison Campus and Fitchburg locations. In 2000, the original Downtown Madison clinic was demolished and re-built from scratch. This office would serve as the blueprint for the next phase of First Choices growth.
Beginning in 2000 with the rebuild of the Downtown Madison clinic, First Choice embarked on a period of steady growth fueled by de novo expansion. In 2002, we opened the Verona clinic, which contained centralized corporate offices to house the companys growing clinical support team. The Middleton office opened in 2003, followed by the Sun Prairie office in 2007. In 2008, the ownership group hired a Chief Financial Officer, the Companys first executive-level management team member, to oversee clinical support functions. Hiring a CFO would set the stage for the next phase of growth for First Choice.
Rather than operate as a network of loosely affiliated clinics, as many competitors do, First Choices stakeholders decided that centralization and standardization were necessary to ensure a consistent patient experience. Against the backdrop of the Great Recession, stakeholders worked to perfect the First Choice model, including the addition of in-house specialists, before continuing to grow. In 2013 we opened our Waunakee office, and in 2015 we relocated our clinical support function to a dedicated business office on Madisons west side. 2017 was a big year for First Choice; we added two new clinics, Sun Prairie North (our second Sun Prairie clinic) and Stoughton, bringing our total clinic count to 11.
With 11 clinics in Dane County and industry-leading patient satisfaction, First Choice Dentals stakeholders turned their attention inward, with the aim of creating the best employee experience in dentistry by focusing on employee engagement, diversity, inclusion, and pay equity. First Choice has many more initiatives planned for the near future. The goal is for First Choice Dental to be the #1 choice for doctors, hygienists, and administrative staff. It is the belief of First Choice Dental that great employee experiences help to create even better experiences for our patients.
First Choice does exceptional work and is a great learning community. The organization has gone through rapid growth, and is making great strides to make sure it stays focused on its patients and its staff. Quality of life, work-life balance, professional development, and personal growth are a priority. My husband called this place 4 times trying to schedule an appt as a new patient. Both times he was put on hold. No one ever got back on the phone and the calls were dropped. Read good reviews but due to this dentist office horrible phone service, will be looking elsewhere.

As someone who has had past trauma from another dental facility, Dr. S did amazing at reassuring me of things, and taking it slow not to trigger the trauma. 10/10 would recommend. Side note: have not met any rude staff there at all. All the Staff are super friendly.

1st Choice Dental in Sun Prairie does a great job. Highly professional & personable group of people. Dental benefit plan through their office is Smart Choice Dental Plan $82.00 a year per person. An additional $20.00 per person. Seems to be the best choice given the choices. They are not money hungry.

Great experience here! The staff were all very kind and I'm not dreading my next dental appointment. Massage chairs were a plus as well.

I had a chipped front tooth and was in for a consult after my regular teeth cleaning and Dr. Stu McCormick looked at it and said "I can fix that today no problem!" He not only fixed it but he made sure my other surrounding teeth were rounded at the edges ( buffed a little sharp edge on one hard to explain ) so my smile looks 100% better ! He was so friendly and explained everything he was doing and he literally made my day! I went in to the appt not expecting anything to get fixed that day ( and unsure if they could even do it) and left feeling so satisfied and happy. Dr Stu knows what he is doing!

Hygienist Ashlyn was so kind and attentive. She treated my 5 year old with finesse and has a calm, patient attitude. I felt no judgment at all from the staff & every part of the experience went smoothly.

Great dental service and up to date on technology. I still feel weird eating after the fluoride treatment, but I guess that is a sign of my age. The staff is friendly, efficient, and generally the experience is great.

Dr. Stu has been awesome with replacing some of my older fillings. He walks you through step by step, so you know what is happening throughout the process and these have been the best fillings I've ever had. No pain or sensitivity afterwards and back to normal in just a few hours.

I've been going here two years now and I could not be more thankful to have found a dentist office where all of the staff are so friendly and caring. Lauren at the front desk is always so kind and caring when I see her and I am always glad to have Dr.Shramm take care of my teeth. My hygienist Sara especially always makes me feel so comfortable and I actually enjoy my cleaning visits because of her! I used to be scared to go the dentist, but going here I know I'm always in good hands. I highly recommend going here!

I moved near sun prairie and I needed a dentist and I thought this was a good place because of the reviews but I was wrong. They messed up 3 fillings THREE. I was in pain for a month. The same dentist saw me again and said everything looked fine despite me not even being able to eat. I asked to be seen by someone else and the new dentist said they needed to be re done. I spent a month in pain and I didn't even get any sort of compensation for the mistake the dentist made. I would not go that clinic if I were you. I could prove that what I'm saying is the truth anytime.
