First Choice was founded as a combination of three existing dental practices (our West Madison, Downtown Madison, and East Madison clinics) that joined together to operate as one. First Choice grew steadily though the late 90s, adding the UW-Madison Campus and Fitchburg locations. In 2000, the original Downtown Madison clinic was demolished and re-built from scratch. This office would serve as the blueprint for the next phase of First Choices growth.
Beginning in 2000 with the rebuild of the Downtown Madison clinic, First Choice embarked on a period of steady growth fueled by de novo expansion. In 2002, we opened the Verona clinic, which contained centralized corporate offices to house the companys growing clinical support team. The Middleton office opened in 2003, followed by the Sun Prairie office in 2007. In 2008, the ownership group hired a Chief Financial Officer, the Companys first executive-level management team member, to oversee clinical support functions. Hiring a CFO would set the stage for the next phase of growth for First Choice.
Rather than operate as a network of loosely affiliated clinics, as many competitors do, First Choices stakeholders decided that centralization and standardization were necessary to ensure a consistent patient experience. Against the backdrop of the Great Recession, stakeholders worked to perfect the First Choice model, including the addition of in-house specialists, before continuing to grow. In 2013 we opened our Waunakee office, and in 2015 we relocated our clinical support function to a dedicated business office on Madisons west side. 2017 was a big year for First Choice; we added two new clinics, Sun Prairie North (our second Sun Prairie clinic) and Stoughton, bringing our total clinic count to 11.
With 11 clinics in Dane County and industry-leading patient satisfaction, First Choice Dentals stakeholders turned their attention inward, with the aim of creating the best employee experience in dentistry by focusing on employee engagement, diversity, inclusion, and pay equity. First Choice has many more initiatives planned for the near future. The goal is for First Choice Dental to be the #1 choice for doctors, hygienists, and administrative staff. It is the belief of First Choice Dental that great employee experiences help to create even better experiences for our patients.

My periodontal cleaning and disinfection ( embarrassing ) over two days with Amanda was above and beyond. Her manner with pain prevention was careful. Felt much love from all the professionals behind the reception desk. First Choice Dental has been the best choice .

My daughter has very high anxiety towards the dentist. She hasn't had much for dental care because of this. Today we achieved great success with First Choice Dental. I explained my concerns and her needs and the staff and Dr. we're AWESOME!!! Jody is wonderful and so sweet! I was so glad to see a friendly face. Kelly was so patient , kind and took the time to explain things to her. Dr. Sharkus was so kind, made her feel at ease. Very patient. My daughter took a huge step in getting her teeth looked at. I won't choose anybody else to take care of our family. Thank you all so much!

My experience with Amanda, the hygienist was the best in my 61 years of dentists visits. Kirsten handled my visit together with her reception colleagues so nicely. Dr. Sharkus, DDS gave me assurance in his thoughtful consultation for my future dental work.

I couldn't have been more impressed! I normally HATE going to the dentist ,as I have had previous bad experiences as a child but this office and staff were so wonderfully different. There was no judgement, , no weird awkwardness just thoughtful,sincere,caring and compassionate interaction. It was AMAZING! I was not pressured into any treatments and I felt heard and supported every step of the way. I will definitely be back. Thank you for taking my lifelong fear out of dentistry for me! I had been up since 4 am dreading going in for just a cleaning and exam. I was so relieved I found a place like this. You are all a true blessing. Jill the dental hygienist was gentle,informative and kind. Dr Sharkus was thorough and just as enjoyable.. highly recommend!!!!

Extremely expensive. 780 dollars for four tiny fillings in a child's teeth. This is what is wrong with healthcare in the USA. There is little reason, other than greed, that it needs to cost this much.

Both my daughter and I go here. They've been very nice, and they definitely provide dental work that is a great value and has saved me a lot of money. The building is modern and well-maintained. The staff are so friendly! Just nice in every way! :)

These ladies and Gents are amazing Very Thorough with their explanations . The care they gave me was 5 stars . When getting my cares done they lady who helped me made me feel safe and cared for thank you ladies for making this appointment doable .

I used to dread going to the dentist until I found First Choice in Stoughton. The staff there is super friendly and I actually look forward to when my 6 month cleaning comes up. If you are in the Stoughton area looking for a new dentist this is the place!

Hard to believe you can have a wonderful time at the dentist, but I do when I visit First Choice Dental in Stoughton. The staff is without a doubt exceptional. I feel as if I'm seeing friends rather than going to the dentist. I never feel any pain with any of the work they do on my teeth. And when I have issues, the Dentists present me with ALL my options, not just the most expensive one. Wonderful place with wonderful people.

I appreciate the professionalism and knowledge and friendliness of the staff. The doctor could have led me to choose more extensive treatments at a higher cost. Instead, he provided me with an honest opinion that the lowest cost option would be the best choice.
