I take utmost pride in my profession. I refuse to provide anything less thanexcellent, honest care in a safe environment.Parents can expect that whatever recommendations I make, it would be the same as if the patient were my own son or daughter.
That said, my overarching goalis to set up each childfor a lifetime of strong oral health. This means doing whatit takes to makemy patientsfeel comfortable with healthcare providersso that they willcontinue to seek care on their own as adults. For children who come to us with significant dental needs, we provide the necessary carein a gentle yet skillful mannertogive them a second opportunity at good oral health.I strive to do the best for each child in each situation, even when I care more than the patient does, such as when the teenagers roll their eyes at me when I talk about flossing. Strong oral health in our childrenis something I will always be passionate about.
I always knew I wanted to be in healthcare, volunteering at hospitals during high school, and working with doctors and dentists during college. I also found working with kids came natural to meafter many years of being a church youth-group leader and tutoring. Once I got into dental school and was exposed to pediatric dentistry during my rotations, I knew that I had found my calling!
As a truly pediatric dental office, it is essential to be able to utilize the latest techniques in behavior management, caries management, and caries risk assessment. We also stay current with comprehensive sedation options (nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, and general anesthesia), and are experienced in seeing patients as early as one year old, as well as young patients with special needs.
Evidence-based study groups and continuing education with the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and American Board of Pediatric Dentistry all help me provide the highest level of careexactly what my patients deserve.
My wife Linda Tran is a loving and kind-hearted soul. She practices as an OB/Gynphysician in Las Vegas, and trained at University of Michigan for medical school and UNLV for her specialty. Our daughter Adelynn Rose is a both a bundle of trouble and of joy! Until then, I can usually be found at archery ranges shooting World Archery barebow style, running outside, or at the gym.
I come from humble beginnings as a child of Vietnamese war refugees who benefited greatly from public assistance. It is important to give back what we were given to help others in need. In addition to First Bite, I also work at a non-profit dental office, providing care to the underserved in our community.
As a pediatric dentist, I strive to provide an enjoyable dental experience for each child. Every one of them is unique: in their clinical and emotional needs, development, and personality. I spend time talking with each, learning about their interests and enjoying who they are.
As a mother, I understand a parents concerns and focus on creating open communication. I never recommend a treatment or procedure I would not want for my own child and always explain my recommendations, as well as the range of options.
I then returned to school and earned my Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. This challenging program guided me through the specialized approaches required to care for children and adolescents, including those with special needs and complex medical issues.
Since completing the program, I have sought-out continuing education opportunities in order to stay current on the latest evidence-based processes. I have finished the Pediatric Sedation Course through the American Society of Dental Anesthesia and many Continuous Quality Improvement Modules through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. I also participate in the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry courses.
If Im not seeing patients, or reading about the latest pediatric dental research, Im usually with my family. We like going to the movies, hanging out at the dog park with our Yorkie and our Huskie, and road trips: if were heading out of town, were on our way to Disneyland!
We recognize that all of our young patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your child to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
Our Doctors: Dr. Renalie Manuel and Dr. Peter Nguyen are board certified pediatric dentists. Beyond their dental degrees, each has completed rigorous post-doctorate certification and training in caring for children, from infants through adolescents, and youth with special needs.
Beyond their specialized training, the doctors are calm, gentle, and care about the wellbeing of every child. They listen to each patient, explain what will happen during the visit, and laugh and joke with the little one. Even the most timid child opens up and feels at ease with the doctors!
Our Atmosphere: We have designed our office to be an entertaining space, filled with light and kid-friendly dcor. There are TVs andgames in the reception area, TVs in each of the operatories, and toys and stickers for when the visit is over. The minute a child steps through the doors they are greeted by name and with friendly smiles. That warmth continues throughout the office: this is truly a welcoming, fun environment, filled with smiles and laughter!
