When Dr. Chafin opened Firefly Pediatric Dentistry, he did so to promote a relaxing and fun environment where kids and their parents are treated like family. He was born and raised in Florence, Alabama, and moved to Nashville to obtain his undergraduate degree at Lipscomb University. Following, he enrolled in dental school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where his interest in pediatric dentistry flourished. He completed a residency in pediatric dentistry at New York University, and then he and his wife moved back to Tennessee, where he opened his practice in Franklin.
Dr. Chafin always knew he wanted to work with children, and he couldnt be happier with his profession as a pediatric dentist. He approaches children with kindness and a genuine desire to help establish healthy dental habits and routines that will guide them towards optimal oral health for life. Dr. Chafin is enthusiastic about accepting patients, no matter who they are, where they came from, or the level of dental care they require. He treats patients and their parents with the ultimate level of respect and concern for their well-being. Dr. Chafin bases treatment decisions on proven research, and he offers traditional as well as biologically friendly care.

We love firefly! Dr. Justin makes my daughter feel so comfortable. I feel like he's setting her up to have a positive association with dentistry!

Dr. Chafin was very kind & patient. He took time to really explain options. He also got visual aids to help me understand. He was calm & friendly with my child. We've seen 4 pediatric dentists in 4 months (all good experiences), but Dr. Chafin, by far, was the least pushy with recommendations. My kid got a prize then left in a better mood than he usually does from dental appointments.

My four year old has been attending another practice for the last 3.5 years. After having a rushed and questionable experience, we were told he would need a crown and filling, along with sedation in order to fix a cavity. After researching the best place to receive a second opinion, I found Firefly Pediatric Dentistry. Within a week they were able to get us scheduled. After reviewing the X-rays, Dr. Chafin explained that a crown would have been overkill and stated a filling would suffice and that we could monitor it to see if a crown would be needed later down the road. They were able to squeeze us in and complete the filling the same day, for a fraction of the quoted price at the previous dentist. Within an hour we were in and out, and our son didn't have to undergo sedation or the pain of having a crown put on. Very happy to have found this practice and will be moving over as a permanent patient here.

This is our new pediatric dentist! Dr. Chafin was great with our six year old. He was so patient, inviting, and made the appointment enjoyable! even with a cavity filling. I can not say enough great things!!

I highly recommend Dr. Chafin. My 5 year son needed to have four teeth extracted because of a previous injury. Dr. Chafin was able to explain the procedure step by step and helped calm my sons fears. He was gentle and offered reassurance while performing the procedure. I am so grateful for Dr. Chafin. My little guy healed quickly and had no pain or down time.

Dr. Justin was so wonderful with our 2 year old who required an emergency visit when he fell down and injured a tooth. He was able to connect with our toddler and keep him happy & entertained during the exam. We look forward to continuing to use Firefly Peds Dentistry for our children's dental needs.
