Dr. Sarah Aref is a board certified pediatric dentist. She was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to the US shortly thereafter. Dr. Sarah grew up in Bloomfield, MI and went to Wayne State University for her undergraduate studies. She completed her Bachelor in Science and graduated Summa Cum Laude. During undergrad, Dr. Sarah shadowed her own family dentist and realized her passion for dentistry. She loved how dentistry combined art, science and medicine. She completed her dental studies close to home at Detroit Mercy School of Dental Medicine. During her clinical rotations, Dr. Sarah realized that she loved working with kids and made the decision to specialize. She completed her residency program at Case Western University/Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, OH. During residency, Dr. Sarah trained extensively in behavior management, advanced sedation techniques including general anesthesia, and treating children with special health and behavioral needs. She was honored to serve as chief resident her second year.
Dr. Sarah is board certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She holds memberships to the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Ohio Dental Association and the Toledo Dental Society. In addition, Dr. Sarah is trained in advanced pediatric life support and basic life support.
Dr. Sarah strives to make sure each child is comfortable in the dental chair. She realizes that for many children, this is a very different and strange environmentand sometimes that can be overwhelming. She prides herself in being patient, compassionate and understanding. For these reasons she always allows parents to come back with their child. She will always do her best to ensure that both you and your child have a positive dental experience!

I take both of my children here 10 years and 18 months. We have always had great experiences! The staff are friendly and welcoming and very good with children of all ages. My children have had cleanings here and my son had extractions to make room for impacted adult teeth to grow in.

Nice and clean. The hygienist was very pleasant. I like the coin system where the kids earn a coin or two after doing so well. That's something my kids look forward to and their ballon. I'm really glad I didn't give up looking for a new dentist.

They were great! I had a 4.5 year old and an almost 2 year old. The staff at Firefly handled all the squirmy, restless, and whiny behavior so well. My girls are happy to go and happy when they leave.

I was very nervous for my 2 year olds first dental visit knowing she's not very good at dr visits and doesn't sit down long. But the staff here was amazing! They were so calm and patient with her! They knew all the tricks to get her through the appointment with a smile!

We love Firefly Dentistry! We have been taking our daughter there for years and they are so nice and friendly! She isn't scared at all and she gets a balloon and a token for the toy machines! We will always be a patient!

The whole experience was great! The staff is very friendly! In addition, my son had a fractured tooth and they were able to work him in for the tooth extraction so we didn't have to come back another day.

Took my 2 month old and 3 year old to get examined for tongue ties and the staff was amazing! My 3 year old is very afraid of any medical setting and they did everything to make him feel comfortable as possible! The office is so cute and clean, the staff are so friendly and thorough when explaining the procedure and after care! My 2 month old had the procedure done and it took all of 5 minutes and he was so calm afterwards and the difference is night and day for how he eats and feels I can tell he's less fussy than he has been! Definitely recommend this office!!

This was my son's first visit to the dentist and I was hoping it would be a good first experience for him, and it definitely was! The hygienist (Sylvia) and dentist (Dr Sarah) were both wonderful with him. He was a little scared at one point, but the hygienist was patient and encouraging and knew exactly what to say to help him. They were professional and informative, and still down-to-earth and I didn't feel like we were treated as a number (as I feel many medical offices/professionals act nowadays sadly). They made the visit special for my son and gave him a token to get a prize from the toy machine and a balloon, and even wrote his name on the sign for his first visit. I made his appointment for his next visit and I'm happy to have found a dental office home for him!
