Orthodontics is a very challenging and rewarding profession. Its a challenge to see a patient when they are eight years old, understand how growth and development proceeds, then use that knowledge to guide and direct not only dental development but also possibly improve the skeletal balance so they can achieve the best potential function and aesthetics.
Its also a challenge to restore function for an adult patient when growth can no longer help the final outcome. In both cases though, when things start to come together, there is no better feeling when everything falls into place and you know the plan will have done what you wanted. I am not too sure of many other medical professions in which the plan can take years to resolve, but thats the challenge and the reward for orthodontists!
Dentistry has been the background of my life since childhood. As a third-generation dental professional, I learned from my grandfather and my father that the best way to succeed in my practice is to create relationships with people before treating them as patients. I may have dedicated my life to creating smiles, but it is the people behind the smiles who really matter.
In addition to my private practice, I am committed to giving back to the future of the profession through service and education. Teaching future professionals helps keep me focused on the best evidence-based treatment for my own orthodontic patients, as well as involved in the latest trends and future innovations for optimal patient care.
My wife and I have been married since 1993 and we have three wonderful children (two girls and one boy). My oldest daughter just passed her dental board examsthe fourth Robinson to attend U of M Dental. She and her husband will be going to Kansas to attend an AEGD program in Wichita. My son and his wife and their one-year-old son live in Columbus, and my youngest daughter is attending college to be a dental hygienist.

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. For this reason, ceramic braces are used mainly on older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns. While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are less of a hassle.
