Dr. Bruce Filson has been helping people smile for over 35 years. He grew up in Northern Minnesota, and after college, trained at the University of Minnesota Dental School. Dr. Filson quickly grew attached to the St. Croix Valley and decided to make his home here.
In 1974, he opened his practice in Bayport, MN, and has been treating patients there ever since. Some of the faces have changed over the years, but one constant has always been Dr. Filsons passion for helping patients.
Dr. Filson knows he can serve patients well by continually offering the community his excellence in dentistry. To do this, he is constantly learning the newest techniques and the most modern technologies dentistry has to offer. Instead of just meeting the requirements for continuing education, Dr. Filson has pursued a rigorous course of study with thousands of hours of training over the years.
Dr. Filson has completed many advanced courses in cosmetic dentistry, oral reconstruction, implants, and sedation dentistry. His intensive training in sedation dentistry has made sedation a major focus of the practice and has made patient comfort one of his dental teams highest priorities.
In addition, Dr. Filson is a member of several professional dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.
Giving back to the community is important to the whole team at Filson Gentle Dentistry, so they donate a full day of their time each year for a program called Doctors with a Heart, which offers free dentistry to local families in need.
Dr. Bruce Filson and his wife, Joan, still live near the Bayport practice. Their son and daughter are both out of school now, but the family enjoys getting together for snow skiing and spending time at their cabin in northern Minnesota.

DR JENSEN does the best detailed high quality dental work I have ever experienced. His caring staff makes you feel right at home from the minute you walk in the door. I really do recommend Dr Jensen, he is just a nice guy too!!

Bi-annual cleaning. Always treated professionally. All questions answered and the staff and the dentist spend time with you and provide clear understandable explanations.

Nothing but positive energy at this establishment! They all seem to want the best for their patients and there isn't a problem getting your appointments in a timely manner (especially when you need help). I am thankful for this practice and feel safe going here for my care.

I don't usually take the time to give a review for dentists, restaurants or anything for that matter, but when the experience is exceptional it's the least I can do, which was the case here. Like so many people, going to have any dental work has always terrified me, literally, but I know it's something that must be done. This was hands down the most friendly and upbeat practice I've visited, from the front desk employees right down to the people who worked on my teeth. They told me what should be done(not what I had to do) and made time to take care of it in the same visit in a painless manner. Thanks guys, it's great when professionalism and skill can be matched with personality and kindness. Won't wait do long for the next visit!

I very rarely write 1 star reviews. But this place deserves it after the way they treated my wife. My wife went in a couple weeks ago as she was having unbearable tooth pain. They took her in and took X-rays and said she needed 2 root canals and 2 caps. They started the root canals to try and relieve pain until they could get her back in to do the full root canals. Well, that made the pain even worse so she went in the following morning because she couldn't take the pain anymore. The receptionist took her back to a room right away and the dentist came back and just started to try and do the work. My wife was in tears and crying and asked him to wait and explain what they were going to do (she has a huge phobia of dentists) and was scared and just wanted to know what they were going to do. He tried to proceed and said "you need to calm down and just get through this" and tried to continue. My wife asked him to wait a minute and just talk to her about the process. He got super mad and annoyed and said "I can't do this" and stormed out of the office. My wife went to the front desk still in tears and asked what was going on and why the dentist stormed out and she said "well, if you're not going to let us help you. You'll just have to go somewhere else" and basically told her to leave. This is the most unprofessional dentistry place ever. Their staff and doctors are very rude and wouldn't recommend anyone to go here.

Everyone was friendly and very competent. They cleaned my teeth and used a very high tech machine to flush out bacteria etc plus a nice polishing. I wanted to get prepped for a crown I needed and they said sure, how about today? I agreed, received an estimate and in a short time I had a temp crown and an appointment for the new crown to be seated! What an efficient operation! Highly recommend!

It was very nice! Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable! I love how Dr Filson explains in details what procedures he is going to do and what are the best options. I am not sure why, but I always feel great when I leave the dentist- I do not always enjoy the work being done in my mouth, but afterward, I feel really good, and happy. I think what is boils down to is the people and the general sense of happiness that everyone has. There are never any lectures, just straight-forward talk about the state of your teeth.

I have a few issues with my teeth and yet every time I go see the amazing staff at Filson, I feel like I am so taken care of. They listen and make sure you are comfortable and well informed of all the work that is going to happen. Such a blessing to have this business in our Community. I have never been to a better Dental office ever! This is the spot, I highly recommend them to all family and friends.

At 61 I have had the experience with so many dentists and while all have been well intended, none have come close to the caliber of the staff at Filson. As soon as you enter the lobby every person is focused on what they can do to help make you feel comfortable and to provide you with the best of dental care. Billing options are explained and no services are "pushed" but rather discussed allowing me to decide what is comfortable for me. 10 stars on a scale of 1-5!

Hard to believe I am leaving a 5 star review for a Dentist! I got an appointment very soon after calling initially, even as a new patient. For someone with Dental anxiety, I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. Even without Dental insurance, the work was very affordable. I was referred by a friend and visited them from St. Paul (where I had a much harder time finding availability without a long wait). They also respected my preferences for less toxic and invasive options, and offered various solutions. Highly recommend.
