Dr. Buttaro graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1996. She then proceeded directly into a one year general dentistry residency with the U.S. Army Dental Corps. After finishing a tour of duty overseas in Korea, she went on to complete her active duty military service at the Madigan Army Medical Centerand then continued to serve our armed forces as a reservist for eight additional years.
Dr. Buttaro has been in private practice in Pierce County since 2000. Dr. Buttaro has made a life long commitment to continuing her dental education and in 2012 she received the prestigious Mastership Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. This award symbolizes excellence in the dental profession and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Dr. Buttaro has served on the Board of Trustees for the Pierce County Dental Societysince 2010 and is currently serving as the executive secretary and working through the chairs assuming Presidency in 2018. In addition, she has been selected by the Pierce County Dentists as a delegate to the Washington State Dental Association. After representing Pierce County as a delegate for the last 5 years Dr. Buttaro has recently been asked to serve as chairman of a reference committee for the state. She is also an active member of the American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry, Washington Academy of General Dentistry, and a number of other professional study groups.
Outside of the dental office Dr. Buttaro enjoys spending time with family and friends in the great outdoors. She has a true passion for the outdoors and enjoys golfing, hiking, kayaking,mountain biking or skiing in the winter. She really enjoys living life fully and enjoying all that the pacific northwest has to offer!
Dr. Mitchell grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and has been fortunate to call the Pacific Northwest home since 2014. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of New Mexico with a bachelors degree in biology. He then moved to Washington for his dental training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He has always felt a strong commitment to both ethics and service and during his time at the University of Washington he sat as a chair on the school ethics committee and served as student body president during his final year. Upon graduation he was awarded the Dennis P. Duskin Inspirational Award, a peer-selected award for outstanding character, personality and integrity.
Prior to joining Fife Dental Center, he worked in Tacoma WA in a community health clinic which focused on providing care for underserved populations.Dr. Mitchell is proud to serve the community of Fife with the goal of providing patient centered care in a calm and comforting environment, greeting every patient with a gentle smile.
Dr. Mitchell and his wife, Ashley, currently reside in University Place with their children, Genesis and Liam. During the summer months they enjoy spending their time on the waters of Puget Sound, from boating to fishing and crabbing. When the weather is not as warm they enjoy trying new coffee shops and restaurants.
Falon graduated from Highline Community College in 2002 and has been a part of our dental family since 2003. Over the last 15 years she has transitioned from Dental Assistant to Clinic Coordinator, and then Front Office. She feels very blessed to be a part of Fife Dental Center for so long and even more blessed to have Dr. Buttaro as a mentor. When away from the office she enjoys exploring her new hometown of San Antonio, Texas with her husband and young son.
Kim has enjoyed working in dentistry for over 25 years, starting as a dental assistant and spending the last 15 years working in the administration area. Kim has two grown adult children and 1 grand daughter that she enjoys spending her free time with.
Tina has been in the dental field for 20 years. She has worked in many areas of dentistry, starting out as a hygiene/sterilization assistant as a teenager, then onto chair-side assisting, and office administrator. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, fishing and being in the mountains.
Gina graduated with a degree in dental hygiene from Yakima Valley Community College in 2004. She then worked in Louisiana for several years while her husband served in the United States Army. She has made a great addition to our dental family. Gina has been married since 2004 and has a daughter and pet Beagle. In her spare time she enjoys scrap booking, baking, and spending time with her family.
Sarah graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene from Yakima Valley Community College in 2004 and has enjoyed being in the Dental field ever since.Sarah has been married since 2008 and has three beautiful children.When she is away from the office she enjoys baking cupcakes, party planning, attending Seahawks games and spending quality time with her family.
Melissa graduated with a degree in Dental Hygiene from Seattle Central College in 2012. Prior to becoming a dental hygienist she was a dental assistant since 1996. Melissa married in 1998 and has three beautiful children. Away from the office she enjoys a house full of kids, friends and family. Having gatherings and game nights are her favorite thing to do besides hiking with her husband.
Jessie graduated from Everest College in 2013 and has been assisting ever since. She really enjoys all the kiddos that come into our office and educating them and their parents the importance of oral hygiene. She grew up in the PNW and was heavily involved with sports. In her spare time you can find her coaching girls volleyball, staying active, and traveling with her husband.

Uncommonly great customer service at this place! I have had quite a bit of dental work done and by far this clinic and particularly Dr Buttaro has issued the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing/positive work with a bridge and crown. Honestly, my praise doesn't seem to capture how impressed I am.

Mitzi my hygienist is so professional, caring & wonderful. She makes me feel not to get agitated or reluctant to go see my dentist. I had a deep cleaning , she really took care of me and always making sure that I was comfortable at all times . Thank you

I absolutely love this place! My first time in was in the summer a few years back, it was so hot outside I was wearing a dress and they had the AC turned on. I was freezing and they let me borrow a really nice soft fuzzy blanket. The next time I showed up super early and I was surprised that they remembered me by name. I have never had such an amazing experience. Highly recommend. And everyone there is so friendly and I got my cavity filled I mentioned how I wanted my teeth to be more smooth on the front and he didn't hesitate to make them all perfect!

I got an old filling redone by Dr. Kim on Wednesday. I've been having issues with it for the past 2 years now and finally got it taken care of. I'm so happy I did! I'm not having anymore issues that I previously had with it. I'm very happy with the work she has done!

Staff are rude and talks too much. Went in for a cleaning and couldn't even get it done on the same day. They said my time was up and told me to make an appt to come in again to finish. Just stop talking and get it done on the same day please.

I would highly recommend Dr. Lisa Buttaro! Nobody likes going to the dentist, but they are very friendly explain everything and make the process as easy as they possibly can. She goes out of her way to take care of you and plan things based on priority/budget all while maximizing insurance. She's the best around! Thank you for all your hard work Lisa!

Everyone here is very friendly and welcoming, and my initial consult was WAY more thorough than I've had anywhere else. I was told I needed multiple root canals and crowns at my previous dentist, and I was skeptical. Dr. Kim has replaced all my large fillings for me without any invasive procedures, which has saved me a ton of money, and kept my natural teeth. I am very happy with the work I've had done here and highly recommend.

I've been coming here for almost 5 years and every interaction is personal and i feel really taken care of. A prime example today was a hard day with acid reflux and jaw cramping. They were very accommodating and patient. I get my questions answered and the staff are just super friendly. Thank you Dr. Mitchell and Meghan for taking care of me today! I have a crown, therefore I am a queen :)

I moved away from my childhood dentist in my 20s and didn't get a job with dental insurance until I was almost 30-years-old. I wasn't able to choose my dentist due to my insurance plan, and was told I had to see a clinic that has an office in every city around. I didn't really have a problem with them, they did great on my children's braces, until I developed periodontal disease. They referred me to their periodontist, who seems very young and inexperienced. I had excellent home care so he told my dentist I didn't need any extra cleanings because my gums didn't bleed, etc. Turns out he was wrong and I had to have six teeth removed in the back of my mouth. I was devastated!! I cried for days. The dentist ended up removing my teeth and complained about the periodontist, who soon after, no longer worked there. I knew I had to take matters into my own hands if I wanted to keep my remaining teeth. I changed my dental insurance through my work so I could pick my own provider. After reading a ton of reviews, I made an appointment with MK Periodontics in Tacoma on Union. Wow! What a great experience! They took excellent care of my gums, but I still needed a dentist. I asked for a recommendation and was referred to Fife Dental Center. I have been with Dr. Mitchell ever since. He fixed my front teeth and repaired a broken molar. I didn't even feel the shots in my mouth! He fit me for a partial for my back teeth and it included unlimited appointments to make sure it fit right. I must have been a pain as I went in a bunch of times to make sure of the fit. He knew from looking at my mouth where my partial was rubbing wrong before I could even feel it. I was uncomfortable having a partial because, of course, it didn't feel exactly like my old teeth. He kept working on it until we were both satisfied, fitting me in whenever my crazy schedule allowed. He helped me to gain confidence in my partial and really listened to me. He is an artist and I have the utmost respect for him. I will never, I repeat, never, see another dentist again. I am so relieved to have a team that works together to make sure that I don't have to lose anymore teeth, as long as I continue my excellent home care. After a bad experiences with my prior providers, and losing multiple teeth causing me embarrassment and shame, I am so happy that I now have a dentist for life. Make an appointment at Fife Dental Center today. Ask for Dr. Mitchell. You won't regret it. Your smile and self-confidence will thank you!!
