My husband and I have had the absolute hardest time making appointments with this practice. We travel most of the year, but have a part-time residence in Gardendale, so we plan any appointments we need during the times we're in the area, so coming in exactly every 6 months just doesn't work for our current lifestyle. In early 2021, we tried to request appointments through their website, and never heard back and ultimately had to call and wait months to get in. About a month before we were planning to be back in the area, I tried again to use the online appointment request feature and never heard back. (I understand that after many people were avoiding or delaying appointments in 2020 that they may have been overwhelmed with appointments at that time, but it drives me crazy for businesses to offer online appointment request/scheduling and then just completely ignore the requests.) When I waited weeks without hearing back from the online appointment request, I tried to call and they were out of the office for at least a week on vacation. Then I tried to call multiple times after they were back from vacation and kept getting voicemail and only received a return call once. I finally got a live person on the phone today and they still were unable to accommodate our request to come in at the same time. We were going to end up with one appointment with a different hygienist than we requested and another earlier in the day than we wanted, despite waiting several weeks/multiple months to get in. Even after I explained that I had been trying to make appointments with them for over a month, they just couldn't accommodate our needs, at all. While we liked the dental hygienist we saw last year, we didn't particularly care for the dentist anyways, so we decided to see how availability was at other practices in the area. The first place I called was able to accommodate our request to come in at the same time, in the late afternoon, in the timeframe we wanted, even on our preferred week and day of the week, AND was pleasant about it. Not to mention, they answered the phone the first time I called. As a small business owner myself, I understand that demand can be overwhelming at times, but there's just no need to have to work this hard to schedule a routine appointment with a non-specialist.

I was a work in appointment for a broken tooth. I had no problem getting in to see the doctor. They were prompt, friendly and courteous even with the extra work I caused them. I recommend Dr Underwood and his staff highly.

Fieldstown Dental Care is so great!! Everyone is always so nice & friendly! I have been a patient of Dr. Underwood since he took over & was a patient of the previous dentist, Dr. Love. The staff is so wonderful!! I drive from Inverness/Hwy 280 & am surrounded by several other dentists offices but I choose to make the drive because I can't imagine going anywhere else.

I highly recommend Fieldstown Dental Care. The staff were absolutely phenomenal. They were very professional, kind, and courteous. They took time to fully inform me about the procedure and the plan of care going forward to resolve this issue. Dr. Underwood was very friendly and made me feel at ease. I would highly encourage anyone with a dental issue to seek them out.
