Ferris Robert C DMD

1 School St Ste 304, Glen Cove, NY 11542

Ever since I began practicing orthodontics in 1990, I have been passionate about providing my patients with excellent service utilizing the latest advances in orthodontics. I am also consistently excited by the happiness and new sense of self that a beautiful smile brings to a person and their family after treatment is completed. There is nothing more gratifying than this, and I am grateful that I am able to reach so many people in order to perform this service. I am also constantly appreciative of the trust people place in my skills, allowing me to treat the most precious beings in their lives, their children.

Though outstanding results are my primary focus, I am also dedicated to treatment efficiency. In this regard, I am very careful to recommend beginning treatment at the point where I can do the most good for a patient within the least amount of time.

I began my education at Stony Brook University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. From there I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of South Carolina where I graduated in 1987. I attended North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset until 1988 for my general practice residency. In 1990, I graduated from Columbia University where I obtained my orthodontic training.

I constantly participate in continuing education courses so that I can offer my patients the most current advances in orthodontic treatment. Additionally, I have several professional affiliations that keep me abreast of the latest in my field:

I am a native of North Bellmore, New York and have lived in Port Washington since 1997. I am married and have a son and two daughters. When Im not working, I enjoy exercising, skiing, playing golf, and cooking. I am also an instrument-rated private pilot. I am continually excited by lifelong learning, my family and friends, and living a healthy, active lifestyle.

We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice.

I began working in the office in 2002, which is the year I started my career in the dental field. My favorite part of working at Ferris Orthodontics is seeing the smiles on our patients faces. It makes me very happy that I play a role in this. Working with Dr. Ferris for such a long period of time has been a great experience. He is a great guy who is very understanding and someone who will go the extra mile for his patients and his staff.

I was excited to become member of the Ferris Orthodontics team, starting here in 2012 after entering the dental field in 2010. I enjoy welcoming our patients to the practice and seeing them leave with beautiful smiles at the end of their treatment. Dr. Ferris is a wonderful orthodontist and it is truly a pleasure being a part of his staff.

Ferris Robert C DMD - Orthodontist in Glen Cove, NY

I love interacting with all of our patients and their families while keeping the practice running smoothly. It is such a thrill to watch our patients treatment process and see how much joy a beautiful smile brings. Dr. Ferris is so honest. He goes above and beyond for his patients and it is obvious that he cares about each one of them. He also is always willing to teach and help his staff, making us become better at what we do.

I joined the dental field in 1997 and became a part of Dr. Ferris team in 2013. Since that time, Ive gotten to know so many patients and seen how much orthodontics can change their lives. Ive also become very close with my coworkers; I genuinely enjoy their company and we work very well together. I cant imaging spending my days with a better group of people!

At home, I have three daughters, ages 11, eight, and five. My husband and I enjoy taking them to all types of places, including my home country of El Salvador. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and cooking.

We are committed to providing the highest quality clinical care and personalized service in a warm and compassionate atmosphere. Our doctor and staff enjoy getting to know each patient and their families, and love creating relationships that last multiple generations.

  • We believe in providing optimal treatment results, but recognize that the experience of orthodontic treatment is crucial, too. Thats why we customize treatment plans for each individual and each family's goals and expectations.
  • We are especially attentive to everyone's individual needs, and do our best to be helpful with insurance, flexible scheduling, flexible payment options, and any special needs that our families and patients have.

Went for initial consultation. Such a nice office and dr. He was very honest, saying my kids might not even need braces. Earned my trust just with that!!!

If I can help someone else avoid my terrible experience, at least it would be worth something. I went to him for clear alignment treatment. I had a lot of pain in my lower teeth towards the end of treatment and thought there was a problem. He ignored my concerns, so I stopped just before teeth were completely straight, with his okay. At final checkup,6 months later, he said all was good. It turned out, it wasn't, but he just didn't notice. Months later, I discovered that two bottom teeth were loose. My regular dentist told me to go to Ferris for a permanent retainer. When I went back, Ferris did a quick bite test (with the paper), and said he should shave the back of my top tooth and the bottom teeth would 'settle'. It sounded wrong and it shook me up. I asked for the retainer, and he said he couldn't do it (later he admitted he could have, but was busy that day!) I said I'd rather finish straightening and he dismissed that. He rushed me into shaving my top front tooth -all because he was busy. Instead of being honest and rescheduling, He didn't even shave my tooth properly. Removing enamel is irreversible, so you should take off a little and then recheck the bite. He just drilled and drilled, and told me to come back in 3 months. The fact is that his analysis was wrong and that removing any enamel was completely unnecessary in my case, it worsened my bite and has created sensitivity in a tooth that was fine before he touched it. Every time I drink a glass of cool water, I have discomfort. This was over a year ago. There is no cure for sensitivity. I have consulted with several orthodontists since then and now realize he does not understand clear aligner treatment. All these problems could have easily been avoided. I deeply regret ever having trusted him for what I thought was a relatively simple treatment. Don't make the same mistake. There are better orthodontists out there. Wish I'd been warned.

I had great confidence in Dr. Ferris when I started treatment. But my trust was misplaced. He seems competent but he is not. His treatment led to many problems, some irreversible, which could have been avoided if he were more knowledgeable, more careful, or had the common sense and humility to reach out to other professionals when he doesn't truly understand something. These positive reviewers may not yet realize the long term damage of his treatment (mine was not immediately obvious) or perhaps they got lucky. Or perhaps they are happy because his staff is pleasant, the office is clean, or they find it convenient. But those aren't the most important things. Trusting him was a mistake, one I deeply regret. There are better, more competent, orthodontists out there, Keep looking. Wish I'd been warned. Hope this helps someone else to avoid the problems I am now dealing with.

I wanted my teeth fixed but there was no way I was going through with braces. I'm so happy with the retainer process--it was so much faster than the braces i had in 5th grade and felt way more appropriate for my stage in life (20's). Very few people know I had them! So happy with my teeth now

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Ferris and his office staff. My daughter went there for years and we have never waited very long for her appointment. The staff is very friendly and attentive. My daughter had her braces removed and now has the greatest smile. It has really helped her self esteem. I interviewed several orthodontist prior to selecting DR. Ferris and no one had his grasp of modern technology. Highly recommended!

I highly suggest Dr. Ferris. He is very intelligent and knows what is best for his patients. My teeth were pretty terrible when I first went in and he helped fix them when I was really young so that by the time I was in high school, I had perfect teeth! All of his staff is so friendly and they really get to know each of their patients.

Careful with Dr Ferris I asked him if I should remove teeth hoping my my teeth wouldn't space as it was my 2nd time wearing braces as they again spaced in front. Now I have to live with many issues. A smaller smile (I had a beautiful smile infact!)I didn't need any teeth removed period and he should have been honest and told me no need!!! I also have creases outside my mouth where I shouldn't too. Just devastating. All so he could make a little extra. I do not recommend him!!! Lisa Marotta

I usually never write reviews for anything, however Dr. Ferris and his staff are well deserving of five stars. Having braces as an adult can be challenging but in the hands of a professional it is not as intimidating. A great atmosphere and state of the art equipment resulted in a beautiful smile! The staff treats you more like family rather than a patient. Thank you.

Our twins have been patients of Dr. Ferris for their orthodontics and we could not be more pleased. He and his staff are cordial, professional and most of all accommodating. The equipment he uses is state of the art and his manner with children makes their visits enjoyable. Regarding results, both my children have seen noticeable improvements with minimal discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. Ferris.

Dr. Ferris has helped me tremendously. I am 50+ and should have had braces when I was young. Now in my senior years I am having bite and gum issues and he was recommended to me to be evaluated for help. I didn't want to lose my teeth so I went and it has been a long process - 2 year so far - but I feel better and am more confident about the health of my mouth and hopefully I can keep my teeth for the rest of my life. Dr. Ferris is very thorough and will not do anything unnecessary. He will explain anything in simple terms that anyone can understand. I have to add that with any procedure (even taking medication) - there is always a risk, but you have to be willing to follow directions and take the responsibility for your own health and well being. That being said, Dr. Ferris and his staff are there to help every step of the way - they care and want the best for their patients. I would recommend Dr. Ferris to anyone with no hesitation.

I have been working as a dental hygienist in the glen cove area for 20 years. I have had the opportunity to see Dr Ferris's patients, children and adults, through all stages of their orthodontic treatment and have always been impressed. Final results are always amazing! And patients are always very happy! His office and staff are very welcoming and competent. I chose Dr Ferris for my own family and have been completely satisfied. He is professional and explains the treatment to me and my child every step of the way. He had some real challenges with what we presented and the final result was beautiful! I would not hesitate to suggest Dr Ferris and his office to anyone in need of quality orthodontic treatment
