Dr. Paul Ferguson is a Monmouth County native and a graduate of Rutgers University. He graduated from New Jersey Dental School at UMDNJ in 1996, and then completed a Hospital Residency in General Dentistry at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Read full bio..

Dr. Ferguson grew up in Monmouth County, NJ and is a graduate of Rutgers University. After working for a few years as a paralegal in a large law firm in New York City, he returned to school to pursue a career in dentistry, and graduated from New Jersey Dental School at UMDNJ. At dental school, Dr. Ferguson excelled both at academics and leadership. He served as class president, and was awarded the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society award and the Chesky Kleiner Humanitarian award. Following graduation, he completed a hospital residency in General Dentistry at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Dr. Ferguson continually pursues excellence in dentistry. He has a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. He has advanced his skills and knowledge at both The Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, FL and the Kois Center in Seattle, WA. Dr. Ferguson is a member (and Past-president and current Treasurer) of the New Jersey Cast Gold Study Club, which is part of the Academy of R.V. Tucker Study Clubs. He is also a member of the Jersey Coast Dental Forum.

Dr. Ferguson takes an amount of continuing education every year that far exceeds requirements. He is committed to providing his patients with the most advanced dental techniques and the highest quality dentistry.

Dr. Ferguson is a member of a number of dental academies, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, and the Academy of R.V. Tucker Study Clubs. He belongs to the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and other dental organizations.

Dr. Ferguson feels lucky to both work and live in Fair Haven, and he can be spotted on River Road as he walks to and from work each day. He actively serves his community, serving as the long-time Treasurer of the Fair Haven Business Association, serving as a member of the Fair Haven Fields Natural Area Advisory Committee, and volunteering at the Fair Haven Firemens Fair each summer.

Dr. Ferguson enjoys getting to know his patients and learning more about their interests. His interests include cooking, gardening, the occasional round of golf, cheering on the NY Yankees, and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle religiously. He and his wife, Carolyn, enjoy time with their families and friends, the beach, and the Monmouth County parks. Dr. Ferguson especially enjoys traveling and hiking in the national parks. He looks forward to welcoming you and your family to his office.

Front Desk and Office Manager Karen began her career in dentistry over 30 years ago as an assistant, and joined our practice in 1988. Her years of experience and superior communication skills have made her an expert in scheduling, financial arrangements, and insurance, as well as a great source of general information about our practice and oral health.

Dental Hygienist Edy received her dental hygiene training at Middlesex County College. Edy is an exceptional dental hygienist who will work with you to maintain your oral health between visits. Edys dedication to oral health and her meticulous thoroughness are appreciated by our patients.

Dental Assistant Laurie has been a chairside dental assistant since 1993 and earned her certification as a Registered Dental Assistant in 2000. She joined our practice in 1995. In addition to her excellent chairside skills, she has really gotten to know many of our patients over the years and knows how to keep them comfortable when they are here.

When I took over the dental practice of Dr. Alfred Thompson in 1999, one of the many blessings that came my way was an association with Dr. Dorothy Hoyt-Rehm. She had deep roots in the Fair Haven community: she was raised in our town, her father practiced orthodonticshere, and her uncle was a local oral surgeon.

Dr. Hoyt-Rehm started her dental career doing dental hygiene and research, so when she got her dental degree and began practicing, she was miles ahead of her contemporaries. She and Dr. Thompson worked together for almost 15 years before his retirement; she and I have worked side-by-side for 21 years now.

While Dr. Hoyt-Rehms professional accomplishments are many, her greatest accomplishments have probably occurred outside of our office. She and her husband Rich have raised two beautiful children, Carolyn and Douglas. She and Rich share an amazing partnership that includes Richs nursery business in Colts Neck, making a lovely home that reflects their shared love of family and nature, traveling together, and working together to overcome adversity whenever it appeared in their lives. I look forward to watching them take on this next phase of their lives.

Dr. Hoyt-Rehms dedication to her profession and her patients is unrivaled; those of you who have had the good fortune to experience her care know what Im talking about. Shes also a genuinely nice person and good friend. We wish her nothing but the best in her retirement. She deserves nothing but the best. I hope she feels, as I do, that she has served her patients and our community in a special way throughout her career.

Dr. Hoyt-Rehms regular presence at the practice will be sorely missed by her patients, the team here at Ferguson Dental Care, and by me. The rest of the team (Karen, Laurie, Edy, Leesa, and Joanne) and I will be here to continue to fulfill your dental needs. We will strive to maintain the level of excellence Dr. Hoyt-Rehm established, and live up to the standard of kindness and care that she embodies.
