We totally get it. Youre meeting someone new in a strange office and youre unsure what to expect. We recently wrote about everything you can expect during your first visit, just to help put our new patients at ease a bit. But we wanted to take it a bit further and explain everything we do to make kids feel comfortable and gain their trust and even get children excited about visiting the dentist!

The dental hygiene habits kids form today will lay the foundation for their oral health for the rest of their lives. By getting to know our patients, and making them look forward to visiting us, were helping them to build a healthy relationship with the dentist for years to come.

So I really liked them at first . So I kept letting stuff go that was a little ridiculous. So numerous times they didn't have my kids appointments right and they would say I didn't have an appointment even when I had it wrote down on the appointment card that they gave me. Well yesterday they sent me a reminder text about my appointment. Today When we we're almost there I called to let them know there was road work and I was guna be a few mins late this morning. They tell me that they cancelled my kid's appointments because I didn't confirm my appointments with them .. all I had gotten was a text and it didn't say anything about if I didn't call them the appointment would be canceled. So my kids missed school and I missed work all for a canceled appointment

After waiting 2 months for my daughter's appointment, they took her off the schedule even though I confirmed the day before. Once arriving and they put her back on, they had trouble getting through to my insurance company. The appointment was at 12:00, it was then 12:10. I was told because it was 10 minutes past her appointment, I'd have to reschedule, even though I was there early and it was THEIR fault it was running late. I had driven over an hour and had to make my daughter miss a day of school for this. This dentist office is an absolute disgrace. I am disappointed in the unprofessional service I received and the lack of knowledge from the staff. What an absolute shame this place is.

I too had a bad experience at this place I'm only rating 2 Stars that's because of the staff now if I was rating the staff alone they would get five stars all day. Then doctor to me was very aggressive downright rude just because a parent says no they don't want a procedure done on their child without thinking about it first. you have to learn to accept the word no as a parent that is our right. Rather if he is right or wrong that is our right. I won't go into details of what he wanted to do for my child but it was something I didn't like, no parent wants to put their child to unnecessary procedures. And if this procedure is really necessary and it's still my right to say yes or no. Even though dr. Zima did somewhat apologize a doctor should never lose their Kool you always have to stay professional,no matter if you like what the parents say are not I was told maybe you should find another dentist I don't know if you no another dentist, but maybe you want to find another dentist. So I was like what I can show you better than I can tell you that was my words to him and his staff yes I agree run like hell and don't look back he's like Edward scissorhands but only in a dentist form take my advice don't go to rude dentistis he might have been having a bad day but please don't take your bad day out on me. or my child's mouth if he talk to me like that ain't no telling what he'll do to my child under anesthesia lol I'm sure on any given day he's probably a good person but on this particularld day he just wasn't and just to think her primary care doctor actually prefer me to him um. just remember any doctors is out there listen to this message first impressions means everything to a parent or parents so always remember no matter what you're going through do not take it out on your patients or patients parents remember to always keep your Kool ps.this doctor had me using words I never used before .

The only problem I had was with scheduling. It took many phone calls just to get a hold of someone from the office. Then, when I was promised they would call back hours later, I would never receive a call. I had to keep contacting the office myself just to find out what was going on with my appointment.

Run fast and run far from this place. Dr. Zima thinks that answering every question with "In my 10 years experience, that's what I think is best," is acceptable, rather than reviewing X-rays with you or discussing the rationale for his choices. He's very condescending to adults and expects everyone to take his word as gospel. The staff is polite and good with children, but largely incompetent. We went to another dentist for a second opinion 3 weeks after our first appointment with Dr. Zima. His staff was unable to submit our child's records to the other dental office and instead emailed us JPEGs of her X-rays. The new dentist would not allow us to submit them ourselves but after reviewing the images anyways, we were told they were so poorly done that they would not have been accepted. After taking new, perfectly clear, X-rays and examining our child, we were advised that the tooth that Dr. Zima told us needed to be extracted likely could be saved and capped instead (much less money, much less pain, much better for her future permanent teeth). Additionally, we were advised that if this tooth did come out, that we would need a space retainer to make sure her permanent molars did not grow in incorrectly - when we had asked Dr. Zima's office if she would need a space retainer, we were told it "wasn't in the plans," but even a quick Google search shows it would be mandatory in this instance. There were also some additional areas of decay that Dr. Zima failed to even mention - probably due to the poor quality X-rays. In short, Dr. Zima and his staff dropped the ball big time. He refused to speak to my husband on the phone about our options and instead made his ill-informed staff call with partial information necessitating additional follow-up phone calls from the office throughout the day. When we finally brought our concerns to his attention in person at our scheduled appointment, he fired us as clients and refused to treat our child. We took a bit of a drive to go to VCU Pediatric Dentistry (ironically, his alma mater) THE NEXT DAY to find out that Dr. Zima's treatment plan was not in the best interest of our child. Thanks for firing us, Dr. Zima - Best thing your "10 years of experience" could have done for our child!
