In a previous life Sue worked with a florist and she is the talent behind many floral arrangements and decorations you see in our office. Knowledge is power. We want to empower you to make informed decisions about your oral health. The first step to evaluating dental health is to actually look at overall health by reviewing your medical history as well as reviewing your current medications. Next, we will examine all of your teeth visually. To aid us in this process, we may use an intraoral dental camera that enables us to take pictures so you get to see what we see in your mouth. If we decide they are necessary we will also take x-rays. Finally, we will discuss with you what we see, and we will discuss what your treatment options are. It will be up to you to do as much or as little as you want, in a time frame that is comfortable for you. We help you make healthy choices!
Early dental care ensures healthier teeth and better facial growth for your child, and it can also lower the cost of dental treatment needed in later years. More than 1 in 4 children in the U.S. have cavities by age 4, and some as early as age 2. We want to reduce your childs risk of developing cavities so we often have conversations with parents about food choices and dietary habits that affect oral health. We believe that a very important part of childhood dental visits is learning how cavities happen. We do our best to make it easy and fun for both parents and children to learn about good oral health habits. We are here to provide positive dental experiences for your child (and you) right from the first visit!
Dr. Monique Nadeau was born and raised in Upstate New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Siena College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD degree) from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1998. In 1999, Dr. Nadeau opted to enhance her clinical skills by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program.
After residency, Dr. Nadeau worked at dental offices in both Avon and Manchester, CT. She established Farmington Village Dental Associates in 2001 and as a general dentist she provides all aspects of dental care including general, cosmetic, and pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Nadeau has a special interest in orthodontics and has been providing orthodontic services since 2007. She is keenly aware of the importance in making sure the jaws of children are developing properly so as to allow for the proper development of the airway. Although she was the first dentist in CT to offer Six Month Braces, she treats both adults and children with both short term orthodontics as well as comprehensive orthodontics. She also offers Myofunctional Orthodontics.
On the personal side, Dr. Nadeau and Dr. Krause are happily married. They are the proud parents of twins, Angelica and Andrew, and have a beloved dog, Duchess. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, exercising, skiing, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Eric Krause is a native of Canada. He grew up in Central British Columbia and his family still resides there in the Okanagan valley. Dr. Krause was inspired by his uncle who was a dentist and he decided early on in his life that dentistry was the perfect career for him. Dr. Krause went to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia where he completed both his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry in 1995 and then his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1999.
Unlike the United States, residencies are not common in Canada. After graduation Dr. Krause got a job as a dental associate in a practice just outside Vancouver. He then went on to buy that practice and continued working and running that office until he met Dr. Nadeau at a dental convention. In 2005, Dr. Krause sold his practice in Canada and moved to Connecticut. His first job as a US dentist was in Waterbury, and he has been with Farmington Village Dental since 2008.
Having been an athlete all his life, Dr. Krause likes to spend his spare time playing golf, basketball, or doing CrossFit. He and Dr. Monique Nadeau are happily married with twins, Angelica and Andrew, and their dog, Duchess. He also enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling.
