Your dentist may refer you to an orthodontist if youre looking to improve your smile by straightening crooked teeth, correcting a misaligned bite, of aligning the jaw correctly. Orthodontists are dental specialists with the training and skills to aid with the diagnosis and treatment of dental and facial irregularities.

Your orthodontist can recommend different types of fixed or removable appliances to help move your teeth, retrain muscles, or influence the growth of your jaws. These devices work by exerting gentle pressure on the teeth and jaws to facilitate gradual movement.

  • Fixed braces - comprise brackets that are attached to the front of the tooth, or bands that are fixed around the teeth, and connected to each other through arch wires that can be tightened to put teeth under tension and cause them to move gradually. Braces are typically adjusted or tightened monthly until the desired results are achieved in 1-3 years
  • In most cases, your general dentist will recommend that you visit an orthodontist if you need specialized care and treatment for crooked teeth or a bad bite. That said, it is recommended that children visit the orthodontist for the first time by the age of 7 years.

If a patient needs orthodontic treatment, early interceptive treatment, braces, headgear, and other orthodontic devices typically yield the best results when interventions are introduced as early as possible.

That said, teens and adults can also seek orthodontic treatment to improve the function of their mouth and enhance their smile. Early treatment helps to improve oral hygiene and reduce the risk of gum disease, cavities, and other oral problems. Your orthodontist and dentist will work together to create the best treatment plan for optimal results.

I found that they didn't take my pain seriously. I had to return for a bite adjustment too many times on the same tooth and to be honest it's still not right I just refuse to go in there and give him any more my time effort energy and the top it off I paid for everything and they have charged me extra money and I know that's just a clerical issue but in these times I can't afford it! They messed up my whole bank account , so aside from horrible actual Dentistry the clerical staff needs to get their things together. I also want to mention that the crown for my tooth was in and I had to call them so that they can install it, again all because of clerical errors and laziness someone entered my information from my chart into computer wrong and instead of them double-checking with my charge when I hadn't answered my phone or return their call they waited till I was in so much pain and called in and asked like hey what's up its been a month is my crown in? I think for me to final straw for me was them taking that extra out of my account.

I cannot say many good things about the administration of this practice. The dentists are never there and they are constantly rescheduling my son's orthodontic work. They over charge for work and also charge for unnecessary items. We've moved all our dental services to another office with the exception of my son's orthodontic work as we are locked in with a contract. Don't waste your time or money. They are dishonest and inconsiderate.

I was recommended to Family smiles by my girlfriend, she said they would take excellent care of me, and I'm happy to say they did just that! I was the first appointment that morning, and they got me in the chair right away, the hygienist was very professional, and took the time to explain what she was doing. Dr. Jordan came in for my examination, and made me feel right at home. The hygienist finished cleaning my teeth, and the front desk had me out the door in no time! Very happy with my visit, and will be returning for sure!

I had a couple visits to Family Smiles recently to get some much needed work done on my teeth. My first visit I was welcomed by Audrey, the Office Manager, who was very warm and made me feel at ease since i hate going to the dentist. She let me know there was nothing to worry about and that everyone would take care of me. What a great way to start my already nervous visit. I then was brought in for a consultation with Dr. Jordan and he was really fun to talk to and he could feel I was nervous and he also put me at ease with his fun personality and explained what I needed to do with my wisdom teeth and why. He was very thorough and I am the kinda guy who needs detailed explanations. I have to admit, I actually was surprised to leave the office much less nervous than when I came in. The next visit was my appointment to extract my wisdom teeth. I guess the office manager knew what I was coming for so she was being extra nice and caring (probably knew I would be all kinds of nervous and scared that day). Her calming and genuinely nice voice really helped to put me at ease as I walked back to the chair I was going to sit in. The assistants did a good job of also joking with me as they prepped me for the doctor. I was all smiles until Dr. Jordan walked in and, naturally, fear came over me as I knew it was about to be that TIME! Dr. Jordan then explained what he was going to do and promised he would make it as painless as possible. He had a gentle voice but joked with me to keep my vibes upbeat and tried to get me to forget about fearing anything. Well, as the procedure went on, I have to admit.... MUCH LESS pain then i thought. He did a great job in numbing me up and kept asking if i felt anything and if i did then he would go a little extra on the numbing. When I was finished the front desk said bye to me and Audrey came back over to walk me to the door and even opened it for me! She congratulated me on a job well done and welcomed me back for another visit soon and I had to tell her, "yall made me a happy camper! I will be back and I will tell everyone about it!" So here I am, telling everyone about it. Overall, 7/5 stars experience, considering how much I HATE going to the dentist. Its been years since I have come to one, and I am blessed to have chosen the right one to come back to. Highly recommend to visit with Dr Jordan and Audrey, they will take care of you!

Had my teeth cleaned 4 mos ago and all was well. Today i went in for cleaning and before they even looked at my teeth i was asked if i had ever had a deep cleaning. Hygenist began probing my gums. She said she had to know what kind of cleaning was needed. I felt i was being scammed. I came for cleaning but 30 min later i just left. I felt they were trying to upsell me and could care less about my cleaning or my dental care. Been going to this office for 4 plus years when i asked why they werent doing cleaning as scheduled..i was told their past hygienist were horrible and didnt do their jobs properly. Will not go back.
