Dr. Nadia Hameed went to school an extra 2-3 years beyond dental school to train specifically in orthodontics. Orthodontists are dentists with two to three years of additional schooling. They receive certification through the American Board of Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association. To receive certification, orthodontists must complete a written test, a clinical exam and renew their credentials every 10 years.
