In 2004, a group of community leaders established Pierson Medical Center to meet the needs of the underserved in Volusia County. Today FHS has medical centers in Pierson, Deltona, DeLand, and Daytona. We care for families and individuals of all ages from diverse communities in Volusia County, and we are honored to serve as the region's trusted community healthcare partner.

Waited 2 months for this appointment. Took a whole day off work. SPECIFICALLY asked for an extraction and was told to bring my X-rays. I arrived with X-rays and was told they don't do extractions of any kind. Was sent home with antibiotics but was told not to take them because it's not infected but to keep them on "stand by" in case "I think" it might be infected in the future. (SMH) Was then given a referral to an oral surgeon that doesn't take my insurance, was then provided with a list of surgeons, none of whom take my insurance either. So here I am still in pain and no one willing to pull this tooth unless I have $1000. And missed a day of work for nothing. FANTASTIC!

This is by far my FAVORITE dentist. Evelyn is a fabulous dental hygienist who is gentle, quick, thorough and kind. Dr. Leonel Torres is very knowledgeable, helpful and enjoys helping his patients. They have an awesome mural wall for the kids that reminds me of the Where's Waldo books from when I was a kid. I'll never go to another dentist as long as Dr. Torres and Evelyn are there :)

I have been in pain for days now because they make it impossible to make an appointment! When you call you almost never get through so you have to leave a voicemail which never gets responded to. You lost a patient

NOT suitable for parents and their children. I had an appointment scheduled in DeLand for my two children. I had to wait 2 weeks after xrays for a cavity filling which understandably everywhere is short staffed. They called a couple days before appointment day, and moved the location to 30 minutes from my house. I wasn't too happy with that because I needed more time to take off work and pick up my kids from school, but I didn't want to cancel and not get her tooth fixed. Our appointed was 2pm, and we arrived 10 min early to make sure we filled out the correct paperwork and still on time. We sat in the office for 1 hour and 45 min before we were seen! I was upset but didn't say anything trying to be accommodating considering today's situation. My one daughter(8yo) needed a cavity filled, and has extreme fear Of needles and this was her first time experience with any dental work other then a light cleaning. Even as an adult a lot of people are fearful of The dentist, and I wanted her to have positive experiences so she won't put off her teeth as an adult. With that said, She wanted me to be with her for moral Support. Once we were called they asked her to come back alone.... I asked to be in the room and I was told no, the dentist doesn't like the parents there. I said she really needs me there she is only 8, she is scared of needles, is there any way we can be accommodated. The nurse said I would Have to stand outside of the room in the hallway. I was fine with that, as my daughter was ok with that idea and said she was brave. The nurse set her up in the chair an started explaining the process and numbing her mouth. I stood outside silently. Then the dentist came up to me. "It is against my rules for you to be watching and present. I have had bad experience the past with parents and it's always better for them not to be there with the kids" I said that is not the case with my child. I know my daughter, and she is the type of kid who needs support from her mother. She's only 8, Still very young and immature. It all rubbed me the wrong way. I can't observe my little child?? He said that he does not break his rule. I said, OK .. fine. I'll respect your rule and talk to my daughter and see what she says. I told her I couldn't stay, are you ok with that. She hesitated and said "ok mommy I can be brave" I turned to the dentist and calmly Said, I'll leave and let you fill the cavity, but I will be looking for another dentist for the future that allows the parent to Be in the room. He proceeded to tell me "I am not going to do this. I am not filling her tooth" and proceeded to kick her out of her chair, all while then sobbing that the dentist won't fix her tooth. I had to walk her out crying that her tooth isn't fixed and she waited so long. Understandably -very upset. This is completely ridiculous and unacceptable! Not Only was I respectful the entire time- I accommodated to his request.. after being left to wait for almost two hours, not complaining, and also location change on top of it! *The two staff women, were very nice during the visit Parents beware!!

Why would you kick an 8 year old child out of your office for needing their mothers support? Very unprofessional and rude.. If you're considering going to this facility, don't. The reviews speak for themselves.

They should state on the machine, or when I initially called and spoke to the girl up front, that they were not accepting new patients, even though that's where her insurance sent us. We've been waiting a week with an infected tooth to try and get in this office only to get the run around. No they don't return a call within 24 hours as their machine states.

My 4 yo and 2 yo had appts to see Dr. Leo Torres and our experience was perfect! The dental assistant who first started working with my kids was so calm, fun and explained everything for them. When Dr. Torres came into the room neither of my kids were scared as he was so kind with his approach to my little ones. 10/10 will definitely recommend to anyone with kids.

Cost was very reasonable for my one filling as I was on the sliding scale. The dentist and staff were very nice, however, their services are a bit limited. Because many of my teeth are lost, the dentist suggested that I go to the University of Florida School of Dentistry which is 2-hours away. Although I can agree with his reasoning for this, I could not help but feel somewhat discouraged as I left the office. As I have some other cavities which (I am positive they are small in size) can be filled, the dentist did not want to treat me in the future. This is very disappointing. I went through the trouble of providing all the necessary paperwork, which included a notorized statement of my income, only to have one visit. I would suggest to those who are considering going to this office, to ask specifically what they can and cannot perform and not expect any kind of commitment from them.
