Outside of the office, Dr. Peter Nguyen really enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Christine, have 3 teen boys Noah, Christian, and Gabriel. As a family, they love to travel, hike, go camping, and play pickleball in the back yard.
My philosophy is to simply treat each person the same way I would treat a friend or family member. I believe in educating my patients about good dental health and encouraging patient involvement in treatment goals. I hope to have each patient leave with a beautiful smile inside and out.
Dr. Nguyen graduated from the USC School of Dentistry in 2000. He holds a bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems and a minor in Economics from California State University Los Angeles in 1990. He worked several years in the computer industry before deciding on his true calling. He is a current member of the American Dental Association, the San Diego Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Nguyen is also a certified Invisalign Provider. His passion for dentistry leads him to continually take advanced courses in the dental sciences such as implant dentistry, occlusion, esthetics, and more.

Going to the dentist can be stressful for many people. Dr. Peter and his staff are understanding of this and take extra care to make the patient comfortable. He does a great job explaining everything, even while the procedure is in process. I have been going to Family Dental of San Marcos for over 5 years and am very happy to have such a caring team to help me keep my teeth as healthy as possible.

Love the doctor knowledge, he and his staff are amazing, my family and I been going for years, even tho it's a little far from where i lived, i don't mind the drive, because services is amazing..I highly recommend it.

My mother loves this dentist, which is why I'm not giving 1 star, which is what I'd like to do. The dentist himself is extremely sarcastic and all of the staff are rude. Will never come back to this dentist again.

I go to Family Dental of San Marcos because the Nguyen family and the staff are really kind, and Dr Nguyen is a very good dentist. The office is nice and clean and stays cool on hot summer days.

I go to Family Dental of San Marcos because the Nguyen family and the staff are really kind, and Dr Nguyen is a very good dentist. The office is nice and clean and stays cool on hot summer days.

We are so glad to have finally found a dentist for our large family. Dr Nguyen is very friendly, knowledgeable, honest, and straightforward. And I can tell he's a good dad by the way he treats my kids (who think he's great). The office is nice and clean, high-tech, and the staff friendly. I highly recommend Family Dental of San Marcos!

My wife and I were looking for a new dentist in July 2015. After three appointments, this dental practice leaves little to be desired, much more to avoid. After the appointments, we experienced: 1) multiple errors on our two-months-late individual statements, including the omission of received insurance payments and the mis-application of received insurance payments. 2) no timely statements after the initial individual statements. My wife and I regularly requested more recent statements during the next two and a half months before receiving the statements. 3) no duplicate payment refund. This practice received my payment for an initially denied, but later approved, claim and, a week later, also received my dental insurer's payment for the claim. The practice applied the refund to a deductible for a dental procedure done without consent (see below) and other charges. I repeatedly requested a refund for two months. 4) a dental procedure done without consent. I had made an appointment for a 100% insurer-covered procedure; however, the practice performed a different, a higher billed with a deductible, procedure, which I protested. The practice emailed that it cannot perform the 100% insurer-covered procedure as I "no longer qualify" and that the different procedure is "dental insurance policy and not something that we are making up". Contrarily, my dental insurer stated that treatments are up to a patient to determine and to choose, a fundamental patient's right. The practice later waived the deductible. Frustrated with this practice, my wife and I documented and forwarded the refund issue to the Better Business Bureau and to the District Attorney's Office and all four issues to the California Dental Board in November 2015. The practice mailed a refund check in December 2015. The Dental Board closed its protracted investigation, finding "no evidence of a violation of the Dental Practice Act to substantiate filing formal charges with the Attorney General's Office in pursuit of administrative action against the dentist's license" in May 2016. In a nutshell, my wife and I can really do WITHOUT this time-consuming hassle, this practice's poor billing and accounting practices and its belief that it knows what is best for its patients without regard to its patients' wishes.
