Dr. James E. Scapillato holds undergraduate and dental school degrees from Loyola University Chicago. He entered full-time private practice in Oak Park, IL in 1973, where he continues to treat patients of all ages.
The diploma on his wall declares Dr. James Scapillato a qualified and competent dentist to the world. A credential shared by all dentists, but to his patients, he is much more than just a dentist. The invasion of big business corporate dental practices on his industry has effectively reduced his profession to a mere commodity. His practice is the embodiment of a patient-centric dental practice of days gone by.
Early in his career, Dr. Scapillato expanded his practice to include hospital dentistry; he treated special needs patients at Illinois Masonic Medical Center Dental Clinic in Chicago. This experience still resonates in his daily practice. Many facilities and individual households with both physically - and mentally - challenged persons are regularly referred to him for treatment to this day.
During the 1980 's he taught Dentistry for the Special Needs Patient' at the General Dental Practice Residency Program at Loyola University Dental School. Dr. Scapillato addressed in-hospital dental rehabilitation for both patients with special needs and those requiring to be dentally healthy prior to being placed on the heart transplant list.
Dr. Scapillato and his wife of 40+ years have four children that are now all married, and the family has grown to include four grandkids. Outside his dental practice, Dr. Scapillato enjoys outdoor activities, attending sporting events and spending time spoiling his grandchildren.
Vivian has been with the Family Dental Care of Oak Park team since 2019! Vivian started as a dental assistant, and fell in love with dentistry and helping people. Vivian graduated from Fox College in May of 2021. Since her graduation, she has spent much of her time learning more about the oral-systemic connection and finding a way to help you be the healthiest version of yourself. She is genuine, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. You will see that during your time with Vivian. Outside of the office Vivian loves to travel, eat-out, and spend time with her friends and family. Vivian is also a part of our Health and Wellness team. She is a 20/30 Fast Track Certified Wellness Coach. Vivian is fluent in English and Polish.
Ayanna has been with the Family Dental Care of Oak Park team since 2015! Ayanna started as a Dental Assistant, and eventually after holding many titles, progressed to Practice Manager, and is now in Corporate Management. She received a certificate from The University of Notre Dame in Executive Leadership and Management in 2022. Now, Ayannas main focus is on YOU! As Patient Happiness Coordinator, Ayanna is devoted to improving your experience in our dental office. Her goal is to create an experience and environment that will make going to the dentist more positive! Ayanna is also the Wellness Director at our 20/30 Fast Track/Oak Park IL Wellness Center. Learning about oral-systemic connections, she quickly realized where the issues were in the corporate dental and wellness world. Mainly, no customer service and no quality dental care. As our Wellness Director and Patient Happiness Coordinator, she will ensure that your experience and service is superb. Dr. Scapillato is the only person she would ever trust with her dental care, so she can confidently say there is a high quality guarantee. Ayanna is currently learning American Sign Language.
Ceci has been with the Family Dental Care of Oak Park team since 2021! Ceci is extremely dedicated to giving patients the best experience possible. Ceci truly cares about helping Dr. Scapillato deliver the best service and quality dental care possible to our patients. Outside of work Ceci loves to spend time with her friends and family. She has 4 children and is extremely devoted to them. Ceci is also apart of our Health and Wellness team, she is a Metabolism Retrainer and will help get you back into shape! Ceci is fluent in English and Spanish.
Ivonne joined the Family Dental Care of Oak Park team in 2022! She loves learning dentistry! Ivonne wants you to feel calm, cool and collected when you come into our practice. She wants to help you smile bright like a diamond. Outside of the office she enjoys going out with friends and family. Ivonne loves her children and treats our patients as if they are family. Ivonne is fluent in English and Spanish.
Leticia joined the practice in 2021! She is new to dentistry and loves to learn. She is very detail oriented and will make sure that you are taken care of while in our office. She has 5 children and a wonderful grandson. Leticia loves her family will make sure that you are taken care of as if you are family.

In the consultation everyone is very human and also very professional. They explain very well what happens, why it happens, what the procedure is going to be and what you must do so that it does not happen again. They are very transparent and explain every detail about the costs. Happy to share here a place that makes me happy to visit every time, that gives me a lot of confidence and that takes care of me.

Well I started coming here a couple months ago on my mom's recommendation. I have enjoyed every step of the way everyone is friendly. My hygienist Viv taught me so many things and how important proper dental health is. She's so smart. Then my dentist Dr. Scapillato he explained what I needed to do we made a plan and it's been going great. But let me tell you it didn't end there. The assistants I'm gonna tell you Clalia was so gental and comforting I fell asleep in the chair. Who can say that they felt so relaxed at a dental office that they fell asleep. Well I'll tell ya I can and did. I love this dental office. So if your looking for a great dentist then Dr.Scapillato's office is the place for you. Richard Hurley

Even though I'm always anxious when I go to the dentist, the staff is so comforting and funny. It's a little spa like, your kind of music, a pillow, something to drink, etc. They really try hard to make you feel comfortable. Great staff, excellent customer service.

Leti at the front desk was funny and kind. I was nervous since I haven't seen a dentist in awhile and she did a fantastic job at reassuring me. Dr. S has a lot of experience and will ask a bunch of questions that really made me feel like he cared. All in all a solid experience. 5 stars.
