Dr. H. David Nelams has lived in Southeast Texas all his life. After attending Lamar University, he attended the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He received his DDS in 1993 and has been practicing in Lumberton since 1994. Since graduation, Dr. Nelams has kept up with the latest that dentistry has to offer through continuing education. He understands that constantly being a student of dentistry is the way to offer his patients the very best care. He considers dentistry a wonderful way to improve the lives of others and is especially happy when he can relieve pain for a patient. He also enjoys helping patients overcome their fear of going to the dentist, which he accomplishes by taking extra time to listen to their concerns and to explain all aspects of their treatment.

Through continuing education, Dr. Nelams has completed courses in implant dentistry, orthodontics, smile design using veneers, endodontics, sedation dentistry, and dental sleep medicine. He has had orthodontics as a part of his practice for more than 20 years. He enjoys seeing smiles and lives change through orthodontic care such as Invisalign.

Dr. Nelams has been married to his wife, Shanna, for 38 years. They have two daughters. The oldest, Lindsey, has special needs and will always be at home. Shanna is her caregiver and one of the worlds best moms. Judith is their younger daughter, who completed her masters degree at Lamar University.

Sommer graduated from Lamar State College Orange with a degree in Dental Assisting in 2003. She worked as a dental assistant with Dr. Nelams for 12 years. She rejoined the team in 2020 as the Doctors Coordinator. Her favorite thing about her job is making sure patients feel welcomed and comfortable while they are in the office. She is originally from Kirbyville but has lived here in Lumberton for 7 years. She is married with one daughter and two fur babies. In her spare time, she enjoys taking trips with her family and going to the lake or beach.

Stephanie graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology in 2005 with a degree in applied science. She joined the Family Dental Care team in 2006. She takes continuing education classes throughout the year to keep her knowledge fresh. She enjoys helping her patients obtain healthy smiles and also getting to know them and their families. She is married and has a son and a daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys attending and supporting her childrens activities. She also likes spending weekends at the lake with extended family and friends.

Sheri graduated from the dental hygiene program at Lamar University in 1994 and has been providing quality care for patients since then. She attends continuing education classes and seminars every year to stay informed and educated about the latest dental treatments. She has been a part of the Family Dental Care team since 2006 and has shown sincere dedication in creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for our patients. She is passionate about educating patients on the importance of good oral hygiene and especially enjoys working with children. A longtime resident of the area, her hobbies include canoeing, fishing, and camping. She is also a volunteer soccer coach.

Bailey graduated from Lamar State College in Orange with a degree in dental assisting. She is certified to monitor your inhaled sedation and takes continuing education classes to keep her skills fresh. Her favorite part of her job is helping patients feel more confident about their smiles. She enjoys spending free time with her husband and three children, especially if it involves watching sporting events.
