Dr. Zac Strauss was born and raised in Virginia. He is a veteran, where he served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He completed his undergraduate studies at Idaho State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with an emphasis in Medical Technology and a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, he worked for American Microsystems Incorporated in their semi-conductor plant in Idaho. He moved back to Richmond, VA where he matriculated at the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry (now VCU School of Dentistry). He was awarded his Doctor of Dental Surgery in May 2005.
Upon graduation, Dr. Strauss practiced dentistry in Newport News, VA with Caring For Kids and Parents for a year. From 2006 - 2007 he practiced with Dr. Edward Gardner in Richmond, VA. In 2008 Dr. Strauss purchased his own practice, Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Mechanicsville, VA, where he and his team strive to meet the dental needs and goals of all patients through gentle, caring, comprehensive dentistry. By annually attending numerous continuing dental education courses and participating in multiple local dental study groups, he is able to provide the most up to date dental treatment for his patients.
When Dr. Strauss is not in the office, he supports the community as a volunteer at the Mechanicsville Christian Free Dental clinic. He also enjoys spending time with his family and doing activities like surfing, snowboarding/skiing, fishing, hunting, and music.

Dental assistant and the dentist were on the same page even though they were not in the same room I was confident that he verified what she said and he explain everything where I could completely understand it. He gained my confidence and believing that this is going to be a very good experience

Dr. Strauss has always been a good communicator of what is needed. I feel very comfortable getting my dental work performed at his office. They have an emergency number, which thankfully I have not had to use, and he said they would always be available if that service is ever needed.

Went there for upper and lower dentures. Nurse was great..but that's about it. Overcharged me greatly! The dentist had the bedside manner of a rock.. Teeth were way to big. Went back 2 times for adjustment..every time they never sent back to lab.. the assistant used a grinder to shave tiny bit off. No lab involved. If I went back for additional adjustment it would cost me I believe they said over 100$. Needless to say, have not worn them once! Been about 2 years. I went to Dr. Marks..older dentist..not his son..paid HALF the price..he sent to lab 2 times..didn't charge extra and never does.. I wasted 7k on this place. I should have went to Mark's to start with

This office is the BEST in Richmond and surrounding areas! Our family would not consider going elsewhere. The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. The Dentist is personable, friendly, and skilled. He makes you feel as if you are his only patient. Our family recommends this office to all of our friends, extended family, and co-workers. Try them out, you'll be a lifetime patient once you do!

I've been coming to see Dr. Strauss and his team since I was in elementary school! They're so caring and so good with remembering the little things you tell them! They take great care of my teeth, and I always look forward to going to my Dental Checkups.

Took a long time for me to find a dentist I could trust until Dr Strauss. Small practice without all the hoopla that goes on at the mega-practices. Doc is the only dentist I've been to that actually checks after cleaning for cancer, every time! Office that's just been remodeled, staff that's friendly and courteous, I'll be with them until this ride is over! Thanks y'all

We always have such a great experience! The staff is super friendly, there is total transparency with costs and insurance coverage, and Dr. Strauss is excellent. This practice has been the best dental experience for my husband and I, but also for our two young kids. I feel they get a more thorough cleaning here than their former pediatric dentist and are just as comfortable.
