Dan Clayton has been a board-certified pediatrician in the Salt Lake area since 2005. He went to medical school at Columbia University in New York City and then completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego.
Dan loves what he does for work. He enjoys working with parents and children in a positive, supporting role to assist them in finding joy in the journey and helping each child reach their potential. He enjoys diversity and building on strengths. He appreciates the opportunity to practice community pediatrics and provide everything from well child care for newborns to teens, to interventions in critically ill children. He is grateful to work with the amazing Families First Team of receptionists, medical assistants, nurses, providers, office managers, and billing staff as well as the talented pediatric specialists in our area.
When not working, Dan enjoys time with family and the outdoors. In his free time, you may run into him hiking, mountain biking, or skiing. If you ever have a good book recommendation, be sure to pass it along.

Chris Cook grew up in Northern Virginia. He received a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Radford University in Virginia. After graduation, he moved to Utah to enjoy the many recreational opportunities that this state has to offer. In 2008, he received his Bachelors Degree in Science of Nursing from the University of Utah. In 2012, he received his Doctorate of Nursing Practice Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Utah. His doctoral project was on recognizing speech impediments in young children. Chris loves working in pediatrics with children of all ages. He enjoys ADD and ADHD care, helping children to succeed in their daily lives. He has a broad range of pediatric experience gained from working at Primary Childrens Medical Center both on the Childrens Medical Unit and the Emergency Department for over 7 years. He is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.Chris and his wife have 3 wonderful children. He is an avid soccer fan year-round and enjoys snowboarding in the winter.

He is personable, fun, remembers conversations with my son, and follows up with him about his interests. Dr. Matthew Toby Cox grew up in Newtown, Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Colby College in Maine. From there he headed west and graduated in 1995 with his M.D. from St. Louis University. He completed a three year pediatrics residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. In 1998, he headed to Utah where he worked in private practice in Layton and completed a Masters in Public Health at the University of Utah. In 2001, Doctors Cox and Johnson and Dallen Ormond hatched a plan to start their own pediatric office and Families First Pediatrics opened its doors in October of that year. Dr. Cox is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He enjoys seeing patients from birth to 20 years old and feels particularly humbled (and old) when those former patients bring in kids of their own. He has a special interest in the greatest medical advance of the modern era, vaccination. His wife is a Neonatologist with The University of Utah and Intermountain and they have 3 adult daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and recovering from injuries sustained from these activities. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and is a self-proclaimed music geek.
'Dr. Cox is the best! He listens to what you have to say, and is very informative! He has been working with my son 's therapist to make the best decisions possible, and has been spot on with diagnosis, and with where he refers us to. I love the decorative rooms, the fish tanks, and that the kids get a token afterwards!'
'We have 3 little boys under the age of 7. Dr Zarbock is such a fun doctor! My boys love him and he is super knowledgeable. I feel like we are always treated well and other than the fact that we are usually sick when we go there it is a very pleasant experience!'

They were so kind and patient with my kids. My special needs son needed some extra love and they did so and gave him the time and attention he needed. They were also great with my busy toddler.

Went here for the first time today with our 2 year old boy. And had the best experience from the minute we walked in the door. The front desk ladies were efficient and knowledgeable, made the check in a breeze. And the assistants were so nice and patient definitely have amazing training. And the dentist himself was nice and patient and took the time to explain what was happening and the steps needed to be taken. Definitely will be taking our girls there as well

My son has had a lot of teeth issues due to genetics, he's had 2 root canals and multiple cavities and he has never had a bad experience until he saw Dr. Blake McDonald. My son kept on raising his had and Blake would ignore him, keep doing what he was doing and just saying one second one second. I had to stand up and tell him to listen to my son and stop making him cry. Ridiculous! We have had wonderful interactions with Dr. Chris so that's who we will go to in the future.

The BEST experience I have ever had taking my kids to a dentist or doctor. From the kind and friendly front desk to the assistants, to the dentist. Everyone was extremely kind and welcoming & made me feel at ease. I was very nervous for my sons sedation & it was so smooth. My son was so well taken care of! I can't recommend them enough.

Dr Chris and Dr McDonald are so friendly with the kids, and they are very educated in what they do! They make sure the kids are comfortable and are not forceful which helps them actually enjoy coming to the dentist.

We went to Dr Neely and had a great experience. The brand new office is very clean and nice! It's set up great for kids and the hygienists were great with keeping the kids calm and comfortable! Will definitely be going back.

We had the best experience with Dr. Chris! My daughter needed 7 teeth pulled to make room for incoming teeth and so we choose a pediatric dentist for the first time. We will never go back! Dr. Chris and his staff made her feel comfortable throughout the whole appointment. She now looks forward to go back for a regular cleaning. Thank you Family First Dentistry for working your magic with my daughter!!

No estimates up front. Biggest bills I have ever seen from a dentist. And my daughter had to wait over 40 minutes for her filling appointment which just put her anxiety over the edge. Dr. Chris is nice & we like several of the assistants. I didn't like receiving a text stating how much I owed without any itemization. Do it electronically through email or mail- but getting a text staying "this amount now due" over a week before any paper bill was not helpful. I have edited my previous review because they did reach out and refund the cost of an X-ray they told me would be covered.
