Dan Clayton has been a board-certified pediatrician in the Salt Lake area since 2005. He went to medical school at Columbia University in New York City and then completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego.
Dan loves what he does for work. He enjoys working with parents and children in a positive, supporting role to assist them in finding joy in the journey and helping each child reach their potential. He enjoys diversity and building on strengths. He appreciates the opportunity to practice community pediatrics and provide everything from well child care for newborns to teens, to interventions in critically ill children. He is grateful to work with the amazing Families First Team of receptionists, medical assistants, nurses, providers, office managers, and billing staff as well as the talented pediatric specialists in our area.
When not working, Dan enjoys time with family and the outdoors. In his free time, you may run into him hiking, mountain biking, or skiing. If you ever have a good book recommendation, be sure to pass it along.

Chris Cook grew up in Northern Virginia. He received a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Radford University in Virginia. After graduation, he moved to Utah to enjoy the many recreational opportunities that this state has to offer. In 2008, he received his Bachelors Degree in Science of Nursing from the University of Utah. In 2012, he received his Doctorate of Nursing Practice Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Utah. His doctoral project was on recognizing speech impediments in young children. Chris loves working in pediatrics with children of all ages. He enjoys ADD and ADHD care, helping children to succeed in their daily lives. He has a broad range of pediatric experience gained from working at Primary Childrens Medical Center both on the Childrens Medical Unit and the Emergency Department for over 7 years. He is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.Chris and his wife have 3 wonderful children. He is an avid soccer fan year-round and enjoys snowboarding in the winter.

He is personable, fun, remembers conversations with my son, and follows up with him about his interests. It 's awesome to have someone I trust so completely, and trusts my judgement when it comes to my kids. Also, offices are always clean and friendly, and they always work their hardest to see us on short notice. We have seen other providers here and all of them are wonderful.'

Dr. Matthew Toby Cox grew up in Newtown, Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Colby College in Maine. From there he headed west and graduated in 1995 with his M.D. from St. Louis University. He completed a three year pediatrics residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. In 1998, he headed to Utah where he worked in private practice in Layton and completed a Masters in Public Health at the University of Utah. In 2001, Doctors Cox and Johnson and Dallen Ormond hatched a plan to start their own pediatric office and Families First Pediatrics opened its doors in October of that year. Dr. Cox is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He enjoys seeing patients from birth to 20 years old and feels particularly humbled (and old) when those former patients bring in kids of their own. He has a special interest in the greatest medical advance of the modern era, vaccination. His wife is a Neonatologist with The University of Utah and Intermountain and they have 3 adult daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and recovering from injuries sustained from these activities. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and is a self-proclaimed music geek.
