Hailing from Boston, MA, Dr. Smallcomb received his Bachelor of Science in Dairy Production at South Dakota State University in 1977. He continued his education in dentistry at Tufts University in Boston receiving his Doctor of Medical Dentistry in 1981. He has practiced dentistry in Sioux Falls since 1996. Dr. Smallcomb is an active member of the American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, Minnesota Dental Association and the American Orthodontic Society. You will find Dr. Smallcomb to be a gentle, experienced dentist.

John enjoys spending his off hours gardening, reading, boating, playing pickleball and bridge, watching hockey and traveling with his wife.They are proud parents of a son, Matt and his wife Jacki, daughter Meghan and her husband, Josh, and daughter Molly.

is a Sioux Falls native and graduate of O'Gorman High School. He received both his undergraduate and DDS degrees from the University of Michigan. In 2009, he joined Falls Dental Centre in Sioux Falls with Dr. John Smallcomb.

Dr. Frankman is an active member and leader of the American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association (SDDA), Southeastern District Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Frankman is currently serving on the SDDA Board of Trustees and is a Past President of the Southeastern District Dental Society. Dr. Frankman volunteers with the Dakota Smiles Mobile Dental Program and the Donated Dental Services Program. In May 2015, Dr. Frankman was named the South Dakota Young Dentist of the Year by the South Dakota Dental Association.

Dr. Frankman is a Leadership Sioux Falls graduate, and an active member of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce's Young Professionals Network. Outside of the office, Dr. Frankman enjoys traveling with friends and family, and is an avid (crazy) University of Michigan football fan. Dr. Frankman and his wife Lexieare proudparents of Jacob and Charlotte.

Kaylee Knudson, RDH, is from Canton, SD. She graduated from the University of South Dakota Dental Hygiene program, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree as well as a minor in Health Sciences.

Laura Trumm, CDAis from Canton. Laura has her Dental Assisting National Board (DNAB) certification and is a licensed Dental Assistant. She is also a certified Orthodontic Dental Assistant. She has been part of the Falls Dental team since 1996. Laura enjoys meeting new patients and our long time patients have become like family to her.

Leah Van Westen, CDA,is from Sherman, SD. She received her degree in Dental Assisting in 2005 from Minnesota West Community & Technical College in Canby, MN. Leah has worked with Dr. Frankman and Dr. Smallcomb since 2013.

Leah, with her husband and their son Cooper and Ruby(their miniature pincher) loves to camp with family during the summer months and ice fishing during the winter. Leahs bubbly personality will put you at ease when you come visit us for your dental needs.

Ericka Kirsch, RDHis originally a North Dakota native. She received her Associate of Science degree from North Dakota State College of Science in 1999. Ericka has been employed by Dr. Smallcomb Since 2001.

Maria Hup, RDH resides in Dell Rapids, SD. She received her Associates Degree in Dental Assisting from Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls in 2009 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 2014 from USD in Vermillion, SD. She has been with Falls Dental Center since 2018.Outside of the dental practice, Maria enjoys spending her time outdoors doing gardening, boating, and spending time with her husband Daniel and sons Isaac and Adam.

Hollie Spilger, RDH, was born and raised in Sioux Falls and is a graduate ofO'Gorman High School and the University of South Dakota. She received herBachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2016. She spent the first 5 yearsof her career in the Omaha area and joined Falls Dental Centre in 2021. Holly has been a long-time patient of Dr. Smallcomb's before joining our team.Hollie spends her time outside of work with her family. She and her husband, Nick, love to spend time in the mountains when they travel outside of Sioux Falls. Together they have two boys, Cash and Rory.

Julie Miller, CDA,is a native of northwest Iowa where she still resides. She received her degree of Dental Assisting at Spencer School of Business in Spencer Iowa. She has worked with Dr. Smallcomb since 2002. Julie enjoys working with our patients and getting to know them on a personal level.

Loisis our administrative assistant and has been a valuable part of our reception team since 2008. Lois is extremely knowledgeable regarding all aspects of dental insurance and billing. If you have questions, Lois is the person to talk with.

Jan Smallcombis our Business Manager and wife of Dr. John. She is a native of Chester, SD. She has business experience in the dental fieldfor over 18 years. Jan continuously educates herself in the fields of practice management, healthcare updates, and financing.
