I want to say the hygienist was fine. My issue is with one of the office personnel and their procedures. I went in for a cleaning and when I walked out to the front desk was told I owed $398. The cleaning was no different than any other I've ever had. But it was coded a perio cleaning therefore it was not covered by my insurance. The gentleman at the desk actually told me that anytime they go below the gum line it's a perioclean. Although I'm not a dentist I believe the Tarter line is at the gum line and you have to go below that to get it out. When I told him I had discussed it with my insurance company and that he should change the coding he accused me of telling him to commit fraud. The rest of the bill was antibiotics that cost $126 that was fine. The issue I had with that is it was another $126 for the hygienist to put it in my mouth. The practice of changing the name of a service so you can charge more is dishonest. A comment on your response: Your response sounded very technical but again really only stated your opinion. You never contacted my insurance company as you said. I however did contact them as I told you and they did not understand why your office coded the procedure that way. As for all the measurements of depth of cleaning, again opinion. I have had perio deep cleanings in the past. They involve a shot to numb the area or putting the patient to sleep neither of which happened. If your saying there are many different levels of cleaning between regular and perio my insurance company is not aware of that and again it sounds dishonest.

I have been a patient of Dr. Haas's my entire life. The entire staff are amazing and they treat you like family. I can't imagine going anywhere else. They are the bomb!
