Our Fairfax office has a state-of-the-art outpatient operating room for complex surgical procedures and our special needs patients. The OR is staffed with the same Board Certified Anesthesiologist, instrumentation, and surgical staff as one would find in a hospital.

AtFairfax Oral Surgery, we practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging fromDental Implant SurgeryandWisdom Tooth RemovaltoCorrective Jaw Surgery. We diagnose and treat Facial Pain,Facial Injuriesand Fractures. FairfaxOral Surgery is proud to serve the needs of Alexandria, Fairfax, Centreville, Burke, Reston, Woodbridgeand the Counties of Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun and the rest of the NorthernVirginia Area.

We are a leader in dental implant placements in the Northern Virginia area including the All-On-4 teeth in a day process. Each of our oral surgeons is skilled in implant placements as well as pre-placement procedures such as sinus lifts & augmentations, bone grafting or tooth removal.

If you are looking to regain the freedom that permanent teeth offer, please come see us. Dental implant surgery can eliminate the source of painful toothaches or diseased teeth. Since dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, you will be able to eat the foods you want, smile broadly for pictures and never have to use dentures or temporary prosthesis again.

3rd Molars, or Wisdom teeth as they are known, can be the cause of many dental issues down the road. Since 3rd molars tend to become impacted or fail to erupt, they can cause teeth crowding, pain in the jaw, and chronic dental issues later in life. So named for the Age of Wisdom, most people get their wisdom teeth between the ages of 17-24.

Call us if you or a loved one needs a wisdom teeth removalor impacted tooth procedure performed. We offer some of the most advanced medical technologies, a professional and experienced staff of nurses and administrators and 9 highly experienced oral surgeons. A referral from your dentist is common but generally not required.

Jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, involves the repair and reconstruction of the jaw bone and surrounding structures. Whether it was from trauma, a disease or defect, our world-class team of oral surgeons and their staff are here to help.

Additionally, most cosmetic procedures are covered right here in our offices, enabling us to complete procedures on the jaw as well as cosmetically to restore your skin, muscles and tissues around the surgery area. The ability to perform these complimentary procedures in-house means less complexity and faster recovery times for jaw surgeries.

Our facilities utilize state of the art technology including cone beam CT computed tomography providing highly accurate 3-D radiographic images for the diagnosis, planning and treatment of oral surgical conditions.

  • What Our Patients Say I had my wisdom teeth taken out last week by Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The office was very professional, very personable and friendly. The procedure went really quickly and the pain/swelling I felt afterwards was minimal/minor compared to some of the horror stories I've heard of wisdom teeth extractions. The doctor walked me through the risks of having one of my impacted teeth removed and what the risks were of not having it taken out. The office also took care of billing my dental and medical insurances for the procedures and at the time of surgery, I just had to pay a deposit, which is MUCH appreciated from other practices that I had looked into where they wanted me to pay for the ENTIRE surgery and it was my responsibility to get my money from the insurance companies. I'd like to thank Dr.Byron Capps and his assistants Dhaval and Dallas for their professionalism and a great team work during my dental surgery. Dr.Capps is very knowledgeable , highly skilled and listens to patient's concerns. In my case he actually had to fix someone else's error and, I think, he did a great job. I would definitely recommend Dr. Capps to other people!

First visit was a consultation on how wisdom teeth are removed, why and post op care, during the procedure the Doctor and assistants were very informative of everything that was happening, my 2 wisdom teeth removal took less than 5 minutes after i was numb and now im home just a little sore but not as bad as i thought it would be at least for now! Very excellent and pleased with Fairfax Oral and Maxillofacial surgery center!

Dr. Capps is amazing. I have never had a dental procedure that went so smooth, quickly, and with minimal pain after the procedure and during healing. I want to give this office a 5 star rating, but I am giving it a 4 because I did not like how the staff handled explaining the charges to me. I think they could have done it in a better way and with better timing. However, the actual procedure went better than I expected.

10/10 recommend! I cracked my tooth a couple weeks ago and of course just kept putting off getting it fixed until it got infected and my dentist told me today I had to remove it. They got me in same day. Dr.Liu was amazing, the experience was painless and significantly faster than expected. Ayla his assistant takes the whole show. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and goes out of her way to comfort you like a friend and seems to genuinely listen to her patients. Most importantly none of them made me feel dumb for the situation and gave constant reassurance. Will not go anywhere else!

Worst experience of my life. Staff is unable to answer simple questions. If your get Ms. Sue in the billing department just hang up (everyone else at least does not yell over the phone). Dr. Liu is great which is why 1 star was given. There were multiple issues with them billing my insurance. Getting them to rebill, confirm this was done, and then receive my refund cheque has now taken 6 weeks... still no refund in the mail. I'd suggest going elsewhere to not deal with the hassle as their office staff rarely has answers to questions (I don't blame them as they have high turn over) and anyone else will be condescending. Also they'll probably respond this saying something along the lines of how they tried to help. I don't think me having to call multiple times, email multiple times, then email 6 weeks later to confirm if my check is in the mail and letting them know I'm going to contact my insurance if they have no updates. to FINALLY get a response is helpful.

My 15yo son had a minor oral surgery performed to expose a tooth that was growing the wrong way. Dr. Byron Capps was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and competent. His work was clean, and healed really quickly. My son is very happy with the outcome of his operation, and with the progression of his pain. Thank you, Dr. Capps. And so far, everyone I have dealt with in their Centreville and Fairfax offices have been friendly, polite, and done their jobs well enough. I have only nice things to say.

Let me first off by saying that I myself work in the medical field. And I know the importance of showing patients and families compassion but more importantly empathy. I have never met someone in the medical field or in my life that has the qualities that Lauren O. And Dr. Frederick Liu have. 2 days later I am still blown away by their professional and personal care. Lauren O. Has a natural talent for dental assisting and patient care and it's so very refreshing. During my procedure I believed to have a vasovagal response-oxygen was needed-they were cool, calm and collected during that time. By listening to her voice and dr. Lius voice and with their hands on my shoulder and asking me to open my eyes. By seeing the tears roll down my cheeks, Lauren gently dabbed them. Lauren O. Was optimistic and hopefully and more importantly a cheerleader for me and my health, dental health and mental health. She is a wonderful soul and I really wanted to give her recognition. When I had questions the next day she was more than happy to answer then and kept telling me I'm doing the right things and things will get better. I know she does this as a career to really help people and care for them and not just for a paycheck. That is very hard to find these days. She is one of the very few people in this world who will hold a special place in my heart because she knew to some extent why I was getting this tooth removed. There was never ever any judgment. She is a fantastic listener, assistant , professional and personal. Those are hard qualities to find in one person. She deserves a letter of recognition, a plague or something recognizing her attributes. As for dr Liu, he is amazing. Very calming and gentle. Terrific surgeon. I'd also like to give recognition to the front desk at the centreville location. Everyone, and I mean everyone are so pleasant s d helpful. I wish all of your a safe and happy new year. See you in 6 months!

I completed my one year post surgical check up with Dr. Liu yesterday. Was very impressed to see how seriously this office takes COVID-19 precautions. A quick screening questionnaire and temperature check were performed prior to my entering the office. I was the only patient in an immaculate waiting area which also had an air cleaner circulating. Once I was escorted to the exam room, I saw it also had an air cleaner running. As with my previous visits, Dr. Liu was prompt, personable, and asked about any issues I might be having. This surgeon has an air of complete confidence and competence with no arrogance whatsoever. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Liu's team was recommended to us for having my daughter's wisdom teeth removed. I know this is an extremely common practice for them and it's their bread and butter. We were asked if we had any questions while we were at the appointment but I'm not sure we knew exactly what to ask. On the ride home my daughter was asking me questions about the anesthesia and what exactly would happen. It would have been more helpful to us to have Dr. Liu explain exactly what they would do to put her to sleep as well as what to expect immediately afterwards. I feel confident in Dr. Liu's expertise (since he was recommended by a couple of people), but I left the appointment feeling very rushed. We were escorted to the payment coordinator for an estimate and I was given a sheet to tell me how much the surgery would be. Then I was given a paper with the bill for seeing the doctor that day and was told, "how do you want to pay"? There was no explanation of costs at all. Of course I expect to pay for their services and I understand this is a very routine surgery for them....but I was left feeling a little more anxious since it seems like they wanted to collect some payment and move on to the next customer. I'm worried that the surgery day will be rushed as well and it's making be reconsider it a bit.

I had a 1 year post op appointment on 3/30. The facility is very well managed and patients are seemingly timed to have really no interaction. In my haste to depart, I failed to simply say "thank you" to Dr. Liu and the team. I know that during my implant procedure of a year ago that he had a fairly challenging moment during my procedure. Anyway.....he's cool, calm and calm in his voice with his assistant and excellent with answering questions. Sorry if you need oral surgery, but if you do, this is the place and Dr. Liu is amazing. (He also removed my daughter's wisdom teeth several years ago.) Well done and Thank You.
