Dr. Simanek joined our practice in 2011 after graduating from VCU School of Dentistry. He enjoys all facets of general dentistry, but especially oral surgery and orthodontics. Dr. Simanek is honored to be a Fellow of the American Orthodontic Society and the International Association for Orthodontics. His orthodontic cases have also earned him top honors at the annual meetings of these groups. Dr. Simanek is multi-lingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Czech.

Dr. Kamali has worked with Dr. Kirksey for over twenty years. He graduated from University of Texas - Houston Dental School in 1993 and moved to Northern Virginia a few years later. Dr. Kirksey attended Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated in 1979. For his first seven years after graduating from the School of Dentistry, he practiced with a leading dental group in Richmond, Virginia. During this time Dr. Kirksey also taught as an adjunct instructor in the Restorative Department of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry.

Prior to entering the School of Dentistry, Dr. Kirksey earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Eastern New Mexico University. Dr. Kirksey later earned his Master of Arts degree in Education and Personnel Services from Eastern New Mexico University. During those studies in the education field, Dr. Kirksey participated in an internship at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Dr. Kirksey later became a Commissioned Line Officer in the United States Navy. He attended the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, where he received his commission. He then attended the Naval Communication School, adjacent to the Naval War College campus, in Newport, Rhode Island. Following this, Dr. Kirksey served as one of five Communication Watch Officers aboard USS Lexington (CVS-16). He also served as Division Officer of the Radio Division aboard USS Lexington. Dr. Kirksey later served at the United States Naval Communications Station, Norfolk, Virginia, within the Naval Security Group as the Communications Security Officer.

During his time in Norfolk while in the Navy, Dr. Kirksey was an adjunct faculty member of Old Dominion University and taught university level courses to military members on the Northwest Radio Station facility as well as on the main campus of Old Dominion University. Dr. Kirksey also served as an adjunct faculty member at Tidewater Community College during this time.

After active duty in the Navy,Dr. Kirksey completed graduate work and earned a Master of Science degree in Biologyfrom the Department of Biology atVirginia Commonwealth University inRichmond, Virginia. He then spent two years with further studies in the graduate Basic Sciences School in the Department of Biochemistry. At that point, Dr. Kirksey entered the School of Dentistry.

Dr. Kirksey has had a lifelong interest in the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institution, and the other scientific and cultural resources that exist in Northern Virginia. To be closer to these organizations, Dr. Kirksey moved from Richmond to Fairfax in 1986. He founded Fairfax Family Dental Care, our private dental group practice. Over the years he has enjoyed working with all aspects of general dentistry with a Specialization in Orthodontics, and a focus on Endodontics, Prosthetics, Oral Surgery, and most recently, Implant Technology.

Dr. Kirkseyserves as an Education Committee member with the International Association for Orthodontics. He is also an Examiner for the Fellowship-Level Tier Advancement process within the International Association for Orthodontics.

Dr. Kirksey continues to advance and refine his skills in all aspects of dentistry. Dr. Kirksey averages each year between 50 and75 hours in continuing education courses in order to keep current with the latest techniques in dentistry. He especially enjoys applying new knowledge to restore and enhance our patients'smiles. To that end, our office has acquired the latest technology equipment, such as our state-of-the-art low-level radiation Vatech Pax-i3D Green CBCT imaging system.

Dr. Kirksey provides direct and accurate information to his patients, as well as providing caring treatment with a gentle approach.
