I had a consultation with James Fagen because I wanted to switch dentist due to insurance reasons. I waited 35 minutes to see him & he finally comes in the room & our consultation lasted 5 minutes. I asked a couple questions & my last question was if this is normal protocol that you always wait 35 minutes to be seen. He said no with an attitude, told me to stay with my dentist, he got up, mumbled something & left the room. I wouldn't take my dog there, this man is rude & unprofessional. I should of listened to the reviews & Now I see why his rating is so low.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Fagan for over 10 years now. I have had a few different dentists in the past, in different states, and I can attest that Dr. Fagan is honest and precise in his work when it comes to me and my family. I have had root-canal work done by him and he referred me to an endodontist in NJ when necessary (helped me find one in-network with my husbands insurance). He corrected one root-canal that had been done by a previous dentist that was causing me a lot of pain. I HATE needles and have never been uncomfortable in his chair. In the last 4 years I have not had one cavity. There is one tooth he is "keeping an eye on" but it doesn't cause me pain and he has never suggested I need a filling or anything extra that he would bill me for. When my children were younger he and his staff provided their cleanings and the ONE instance my daughter had a cavity her referred me to a pediatric dentist in NJ - he did not take the work and the NJ dentist confirmed the cavity and treated my daughter. My children have been cavity free for 5 years+. I have referred many of my friends and immediate/extended family to Dr. Fagan and they have had great experiences as well. My husband even had to have bridgework done by Dr. Fagan and all went smoothly. He has fantastic "bed-side manor" and is very easy to speak with. He is not pushy at all and works with you on the best course of action for your specific situation. He is exactly what we were looking for in a dentist. His reception staff have been with him for many, many years and treat you as if you were family. I feel that choosing a dentist is a very personal decision and depends greatly on your insurance.

He is awful, when it comes to Doctor Fagan, he most likely BARELY graduated dental school. He seems completely unknowledgeable. And the most he will do is give you an x-ray. He is awful at giving numbing injections so much so that they last for days after the procedure. NOT FUN. The hygienist are adequate at best and the receptionist are like middle school girls, CONSTANTLY gossiping about patients and their lives. Go somewhere else.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This man told me I had 12 cavities. Second opinion revealed 2 cavities. He wanted a root canal for 6 of them. He doesn't care about anything but money.

Did a emergency extraction for my wife and put a temporary in while she was in PA and she was do to do an impression and 3 crown bridge. When she came home she found out from out dentist it was 875.00 cheaper so we hoped he would give us a discount because we are self pay, so we asked for the money back and would pay him for the work he did they refused and said they did 90% of the work which is a lie. He would not speak to my wife and Nancy would not speak to her unless she paid them another $1025.00 Do NOT USE CUT MY MOUTH BLED FOR TWO WEEKS

DO NOT USE!!! First the office tried to tell me they were not contracted with my insurance and the bill would be over 600 dollars. After a month of back and forth with the insurance and the office they finally stated they were in contract and the bill was now 148 dollars. This should have been my first warning sign. I was told that 4 fillings need to be replaced from the old sliver ones. After the work was done I had to go back 3 times as I was in so much pain I couldn't eat. Then I find out the another tooth was filled without me even being told and I never had a filling there or any issue. This tooth was my most problematic now. I went back to a dentist in brooklyn and after 3 weeks of living on pudding, yogurt and anything soft. I was out of the most sever pain. Howeven my teeth still hurt and dont feel like they will ever be the same. One tooth was even filled down so much it is flat on one side. Be aware of this place!!!!

Very good experience. How often do you say that then getting a root canal?! Dr. Fagan is an excellent communicator with a kind mannor that makes you feel very relaxed. The procedure was painless and the the finished results were beautiful!

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS---Dr. Fagan is a scam artist. He told me I needed two crowns and since this was my first time having major dental work done, I trusted him and agreed to do the work. I later found out from another dentist in NJ that I did not even need those crowns (out of state doctors/dentists will tell you the truth, but local doctors/dentists will never talk bad about one another). The crowns were made from a cheap material that did not feel smooth and were rough textured in my mouth (not like traditional porcelain). He charged me TOP DOLLAR for these crowns and his pushy sales-woman/receptionist, Robin, made me pay up front immediately with my credit card. My new dentist confirmed that the materials in these crowns were cheap and would break over time and for the price I paid he would have given me GOLD-posted crowns which are of the highest quality. This is not even the worst part.....the worst part is that the crowns were made wrong and they left me with huge gaps on both sides of my adjoining teeth in which lots of food would painfully get stuck in and have created a host of other problems. Sooo, I have had to go to two other dentists to get 2 NEW crowns. Thank God my insurance paid for most it because they recognized that even though it was done only a year ago they were "ill-fitting" as per Dr. Fagan's mistakes and allowed me to get new ones. I still had to pay about $1000 out of pocket because of this ordeal, not to mention the pain and suffering of having to get crowns drilled and yanked off again. His office even gave me a hard time getting my medical records when I told them I had a problem and needed to go somewhere else. He also double and triple billed my insurance company for services that he should not have. I thought the reason why Dr. Fagan does not talk much and has a poor bedside manner was because he was a shy person. The real reason is because he knows he's scamming you the moment you sit in his chair and just sees you as $$$, not as a patient. By the way, my crowns with him took over 1 hour and the entire time he had me holding my mouth wide open on my own without the use of a dental prop. This has left me with a permanent TMJ problem and loosening of ligaments at my jaw bones that I never had before going to him. My jaws hurt like crazy for months after my visit with him. I later learned from other dentists that he was supposed to have used a dental prop to hold my mouth open so that my jaw could relax. I should have sued the batard for all of this!!!!!
