Dr. Carroll knows that a dentist is only as good as the extent of their training, so he devotes his time to studying new developments in dental technology. Even the most modern techniques dont escape Dr. Carrolls notice as he participates in study clubs dedicated to current dental research. A self-proclaimed continuing education junkie, over the past six years he has completed more than twice the states requirement for continued learning. As the only current LVI graduate in Kentucky, Dr. Carroll offers unique neuromuscular and cosmetic dentistry knowledge to his family of patients.
His other academic accomplishments include a BA from Bellarmine University, a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville, and a general practice residency certificate from the University of Kentucky. After completing his residency, Dr. Carroll returned to Louisville where he entered private practice and also joined the faculty at the University of Louisville Dental School. At the university, Dr. Carroll taught in the General Practice Residency post-doctoral program and co-founded the University of Louisville Advanced General Dentistry Program.
Dr. Carroll enjoys sports dentistry and is the team dentist for the Louisville Bats and Bellarmine University sports teams. When Louisville had ice hockey teams, Dr. Carroll performed their dentistry, too. In his time away from the office, Dr. Carroll is a high school and competitive soccer referee. He is a past president of the Kentucky Soccer Officials Association. He is also an avid jogger and reader. Wife Vikki and sons Sean, Colin, and Conor appreciate Dr. Carrolls dedication to his work, and their support and love are a vital part of his success.
Dr. Deborah Shoemaker is pleased to be able to offer beautiful smiles to her neighbors in the Louisville area. She feels very honored that Exceptional Dentistry has invited her to be a part of their fantastic dental team.
Dr. Shoemaker was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Ballard High School and Murray State University on an athletic scholarship for rowing. She moved back to Louisville and earned her dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She has taken numerous postgraduate education courses, specifically selecting programs focusing on neuromuscular dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and comprehensive care. Dr. Shoemaker trains at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, where she learns from the best in dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Shoemaker was the first dentist in the Kentuckiana area to become certified in Strickland 's 'Denture Fountain of Youth' technique, which creates a premium denture for a youthful appearance. Dr. Shoemaker is sedation certified and prides herself on putting her patients at ease.
Dr. Shoemaker also has a thriving private practice in Jeffersonville, Indiana. In order to fully support her patients and fellow team members, Dr. Shoemaker maintains professional memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics, Academy of General Dentistry, Southern Indiana Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, Spear Study Club, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Shoemaker is a 2011 Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics Legacy Award winner, and you may have seen her feature in Louisville Magazine in 2012.
Dr. Shoemaker has been married to her husband, Ron, for 12 years. Ron has been working in emergency medical and fire service for 23 years. They have one son, Brock, who attends the St. Edward School where they are active parishioners. When Dr. Shoemaker is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, being at the lake, and engaging in her newest Pinterest project.
