Board Certification requires hundreds of additional hours of preparation to test judgement, skill and knowledge to demonstrate the highest quality of endodontic care. Only 24% of endodontists are Board Certified.
Dr. Derek Ego-Osuala received his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland at College Park. After graduating with honors in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in both Physiology and Neuroscience, he attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery (BCDS), the first dental school in the world. Dr. Ego-Osuala completed a three year Endodontic Post Graduate program at the University of Maryland BCDS.
He successfully defended his thesis in 2010, and went on to receive his certification in endodontics as well as a Master of Science (MS) degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Ego-Osuala is a Clinical Assistant professor at the University of Maryland BCDS. He is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists and a member of the American Dental Association, National Dental Association and Maryland State Dental Society. Dr Ego-Osuala is also a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Joshi received her degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Baguio, Philippines in 2002, where she topped her batch. Upon graduation, Dr. Joshi returned back to her home country, Nepal, and practiced as a General Dentist for 6 years.
Dr. Joshi moved to the United States in 2008. She joined New York University College of Dentistry and received her degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2012. While at NYU Dr. Joshi was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Omega chapter, a national dental honor society and graduated among the top ten percent in her class. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Joshi worked as a General Dentist for three years in Houston, Texas. During this period, Dr. Joshi realized her true interest in endodontics.
Dr. Joshi moved to Chicago to pursue her passion for Endodontics. She completed her post-doctorate advanced specialty training in Endodontics at University of Illinois-Chicago College of Dentistry. During her residency, Dr. Joshi did research on Comparison of debridement efficacy of Endovac and Passive ultrasonic irrigation in vitro.
She is a member of American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists and Penick Endodontic study club. She is Board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr Joshi has been happily married for over 12 years and has an energetic son who keeps her busy. In her free time, Dr. Joshi loves spending time with her family and enjoys hiking and biking.

No one ever wants to have a root canal procedure, but if you must have one, this is the place you need to go - especially if you're like me and have major anxiety when it comes to having any dental procedure. From the time I made initial contact with the office until the procedure was actually completed, I had the most wonderful experience. Sydney greeted me with a warm smile and was very kind. She helped to relieve my anxiety when she told me that Dr. Ego-Osuala was the best and would take great care of me. She was ready with all my paperwork. I didn't even have time to sit down before I was greeted by Bria, who would be preparing me for my procedure. She was also very kind and professional, making sure I was comfortable while taking x-rays and getting me prepped for my evaluation. Dr. Ego-Osuala then came in and immediately put all my fears to rest. He took his time and explained every thing he was going to do so I understood what to expect. After evaluating my tooth, it was determined that it indeed needed a root canal done. Believe me when I say, I never felt any discomfort during this entire procedure! He has a gentle manner in ensuring that I was completely numb and I was actually able to unclench my hands during the procedure, realizing that I was in capable hands. This entire office ROCKS! You definitely won't be disappointed!

WARNING: Make sure you FULLY understand their billing practice and how you are going to be charged for your procedure. After collecting my insurance information, they offered a 20% patient discount if I chose NOT to use my insurance company. I thought it odd that I was offered a patient discount as I have insurance but was advised it would be the less expensive way to go. I chose the 20% discount and paid in full by credit card. Guess what - Excelsis billed my insurance company and sent me a bill for the difference. - BE WARNED --

Not my first root canal but definitely the best. Dr. Ego-Osuala is very good at what he does. The procedure was painless, my concerns were addressed, and it was finished quickly. Friendly staff, clean bathroom, and online pre-registration so I didn't have to get there super early were just icing on the cake. I've honestly had a cleaning that was more traumatic.
