Dr. Ascough specializes in general and cosmetic dentistry for children, teens and adults. Her love and passion for dentistry drives her to improve her patients smile and well-being.She has more than 20 years of experience and has received advanced training at UCLA in Esthetic Dentistry. Ive always had artistic tendencies, and it was a natural fit for me to use them to enhance the appearance of my patients smile. After all, a beautiful smile can have a dramatic impact on a persons life. My objective as a dentist is to not only ensure you have a healthy mouth, but also to create harmony between how you look and how you feel.
Her commitment is to provide you with high quality dental care in a friendly, comfortable, and fun environment. Dr. Ascough is one of the few dentists in the San Diego area to be fully trained and licensed to perform Laser Periodontal Therapy known as Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP). The addition of this laser technology is perfectly aligned with her vision to offer her patients less invasive procedures to minimize discomfort and to speed up recovery time.
In 2011, Dr. Ascough completed the Susan G. Koman 3-Day Walk.It was such a great and fulfilling experience for her that she has signed up to walk again in 2012. Oral health is important as it directly affects our total wellness. Poor oral health leads to more serious diseases such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, Alzheimers disease, Type II diabetes, blood clots, strokes, preterm, low birth babies, osteoporosis, gastric ulcer and weakened immune system. So, a healthy mouth means a healthier you!
If you are using a regular toothbrush, you should change it every 3 months. However, if you are using an electronic toothbrush, replace the brush heads every 6 months. The bristles become worn out after a certain period of time and are not as effective as the first few months when you just got them.
If you are suffering from gum disease, change your toothbrush every 4-6 weeks because bacteria tend to live in the bristles. It is also important to rinse your toothbrush with hot water after each use or to toss it after getting sick.

I'm bad at remembering names, but the dental hygenist who worked on my dental cleaning yesterday is amazing! She knows her job pretty well and she's very good at it. I would recommend her 200%.

What can I say... every time I walk in to their office they greet me with great kindness and thoughtfulness! I freeze in their office all the time and they get me a blanket to keep me warm. The blanket is wrapped in a celephane like it was right out of the dry cleaners. I was amazed! Thank you for that by the way. They make me feel comfortable! Thank you!

I have had the best experiences regarding my oral health needs with Dr. Evelyn Ascough and her staff. I had a couple of terrible experiences with other dentists And was afraid to go back to a dentist ever again. Since my friend referred me to Dr. Ascough , I have over come my fear. Yesterday I had the BEST cleaning and check up ever! Terri was so gentle and calming as she was cleaning and picking away. It actually felt good ! think I have been going to this office for 7 years and I would recommend it to everyone.

Dr. Ascough and her team replaced a failing filling for me, administering the short duration local anesthetic so that it did not impact my brass ensemble rehearsal! The procedure was quick, painless and in fact, gentle. I've been in her care for 11 years.

Even though she was filling in Julie was very professional and ensured I was comfortable and always checking in to make sure I was not in any pain or if there was any sensitivity in the areas she had concerns about. Dr Ascough is a gentle, kindly, gifted dentist! She chooses healing staff and she is an artist at heart, so the environment is beautiful and soothing! I always feel better leaving than arriving and my teeth are so clean! She is precise!
