Evara Health, formerly Community Health Centers of Pinellas, was founded in 1980 as the vision of Dr. Johnnie Ruth Clarke. JRC was the first African American woman to obtain her PhD from the University of Floridas College of Education.Dr. Clarke was a civil rights activist and a pioneer in the fight against sickle cell anemia. Her activism also established modern medical services for the under served African-American residents of St. Petersburg.

Determined to continue her work, we opened our first of many health centers in 1985, on the grounds of the Lakeview Presbyterian Church as the Johnnie Ruth Clarke (JRC) Health Center. We soon outgrew our space and relocated within the historic Mercy Hospital located in St. Petersburg. Transformed into a state-of-the-art facility, we opened its doors to patients on February 2, 2004.

More than 40 years later, we are still a not-for-profit health care organization, and we still provide affordable, primary health care services to the underserved, low-income, uninsured, and underinsured communities across Pinellas County.

Evara, pronounced eh-ver-ah, has roots in the wordsevery and everlasting, signifying the trust we build inevery relationship that runs strong for generations. Ourname symbolizes what we strive to be, a lifelong medicalpartner through every moment of the health journey.

This dental practice is obviously having staffing problems but instead of doing their best to keep these issues from affecting patients the opposite seems to be the norm. After waiting for months to get an initial new patient evaluation (before they would even let me schedule a cleaning with a hygienist) I struggled through that evaluation with a tech that obviously had little experience with xrays or other standard dental practices. The one bright spot in my entire encounter with this dental practice was Dr. Santos who seemed talented and caring. After this initial visit I was scheduled for a cleaning months out in the St. Pete office (even though I live in Clearwater) as "this was the only office with a hygienist". After waiting for 2 months I get a call from Evara 4 days before the cleaning appointment indicating that they now have no hygienist in St. Pete and have to reschedule in Clearwater 3 months out or I have to go to the Tarpon Springs office. The question I could not get answered by the "scheduler" is when did they figure out they didn't have a hygienist in St. Pete? That day? Weeks ago? If they had approached this situation in a professional manner they would have contacted those with appointments immediately and made sure we got the first appointments with this magically available hygienist in Clearwater. Instead they just waited until just before the appointment and without giving a darn about how long a patient has already waited just pushed everything out. Bottom line is support staff a Evara is sub standard and customer service is an afterthought at best. Go anywhere else if you can.

They have excellent service for me. They are helping me with pain by seeing a physical therapist and you get an adjustment with the back massage.

Good luck getting through to anyone on the phone! Their automated phone system is so messed up, every single time I call. Better off just stopping by...

So I got a full screening of my teeth. I was surprised at how prompt the nurse was. She had noticed more about my teeth than I was even aware of. The sign in method is on a tablet! I personally thought this was a tech savvy move. The tablet is straightforward to operate and very fast . I was called into my appointment within 10 minutes or so. I noticed most people were being taken care of fastly as well.

Incredibly rude desk staff. The doctor was very busy and came up with no clear solution or even diagnosis. I left with two referrals and a prescription for ibuprofen. No consideration or concern for the pain I came in with. Horrible experience, I would sooner go to the dentist in the local mall than deal with any of the staff at this office.

Impossible to talk to someone over the phone, tried for over an hour. Every time you hit 1 to make an appointment is just sends you back to the first menu.

The worst ever! Came here a few months ago, waited over about an hour in the lobby for them to tell me they could not verify whether my insurance was active or not, and if I wanted to be seen I would have to pay out-of-pocket. Called my insurance promptly after leaving the office and they told me that I am active and don't know why they told me that. Had another visit scheduled for today, I walked in at 12:15 PM for my 1230 appointment, they told me that my appointment was supposed to be at 12 PM and not 12:30 PM so they put me down as a no-show and that I would have to wait a while to be seen because the doctor stepped out for lunch, (which if i was scheduled at 12 why would the doctor be going to lunch at 12:15?) I was not Called into the room until 230 pm! I WAITED 2 AND 1/2 HOURS in a very uncomfortable waiting room chair that caused my neck and back to cramp up! 2 AND 1/2 HOURS for them to finally call me back, just to tell me that i need a root canal which according to them my insurance doesn't cover and that if I wanted to have a root canal done I would have to pay out-of-pocket for it and they gave me a referral! I called my insurance company and again they told me that they do cover route canals and they don't know why they told me that but they did give me a list of endodontist that I can go see that will cover me. Needless to say I will never visit here ever again nor will I ever Refer a friend! Very inconsiderate staff! Just because we are low income people doesn't mean we should be treated like that we are people too!
