Dr. Stephen Matthews earned his degree at the University of MissouriKansas City Dental School in 1987, after graduating from the Univiversity of MissouriColumbia in 1983 with a degree in Biology. He grew up in St. Louis, went to high school at Parkway West and graduated in 1979.
Dr. Matthews is board certified and has always exceeded state requirements for continuing education, focusing on cosmetic procedures, veneers, implants, endodontics, oral surgery, dentures, pharmacology and sterilization procedures. He is married to Julie Matthews, an occupational therapist. Dr. Matthews is very active, often seen biking, hiking, camping, golfing and running sprint triathlons. He co-founded Project Hope, an organization that offers free dental, medical, and mental health care for underprivileged children of Washington County, MO. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of MissouriKansas City Dental School each year since 2002.
My philosophy is to take the time to communicate with my patients. Its very important to determine exactly what they want. I am educated in all of the most advanced procedures available, so that I can explain all of the options. I make sure that each patient understands all of their choices and the financial investment that they will be making, because no one likes surprises. Together we will decide the all around best way to take care of them. Once we have decided our course of treatment, I believe in doing everything to make our patients relaxed and comfortable. Eureka Dental was a wonderful experience with excellent care. Dr. Matthew's explained every procedure he did and what he was looking for. The entire team at Eureka Dental was a pleasure to meet and provided great care. I have found my new dentist!

I don't love going to the dentist, who does? But, Dr Matthew's and his staff were amazing. I felt like he really listened to my concerns, addressed my overall mouth health, and talked to me about things that I notice. He explains things thoroughly and ensures you feel comfortable with what he's told you and the plan. And he'll tell you to try a cheaper OTC version before gouging you to sell it to you himself!

Office staff is always very nice. They were able to get me scheduled same day. Dr Matthews is the the only dentist I feel comfortable seeing.

I always appreciate when Dr. Matthews takes the time and explains things to me and talks about what's best for my dental health. He is so personable and caring. Chris the hygienist is fantastic as well. I'm so happy I started coming to this office a couple of years ago.

For years I avoided the dentist because of traumatic childhood experiences. I discovered Dr. Matthews and the Eureka Dental Arts staff last year and can now say that I no longer mind going. I actually look forward to my regular cleanings.

He listens to my anxieties and explains everything to me along the way. Courtney is just as amazing and I refer all my friends and family to them!!

Never thought I would say this about going to the dentist. I look forward to a painless visit each time with people who have become my friends. The music is great and the pictures are even better. You can't ask for a more honest group of people. They understand that people have budgets and will give pros and cons of all options that are available. Very willing to work with you. Very friendly. They handled my 3yr olds daughter's first appointment perfectly. She thoroughly enjoyed the dentist.
