Dr. Hedlund completed her undergraduate training at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. During her time at Baylor University, Dr. Hedlund joined and was active in Chi Omega fraternity. She received her DMD from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in Augusta Georgia and has completed an ADA-accredited program in Advanced General Dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. She has practiced dentistry in Atlanta since 1994.
Dr. Hedlund has also received extensive training in esthetic dentistry. She has received her certificate in the postgraduate program in esthetic dentistry from Baylor, as well as completing the Comprehensive Esthetic Restorative Continuum at the same institution. During her postgraduate studies at the Medical College of Georgia, she was awarded the Goldstein Esthetic Dentistry Award, which is presented yearly to a senior student who has shown exceptional interest and talent in the area of esthetic dentistry. She is an active member in the Georgia Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, where she is currently an accreditation candidate.
The Academy teaches dentists all across the world the essential principles and skills for complete care with concentrations in dental occlusion, temporomandibular joints, and esthetic restorative dentistry. In addition, she serves on the Dental Advisory Council for the Christian Medical Dental Associations, which educates and equips Christian healthcare professionals to serve in the cause of Christ in the world.
Dr. Hedlund has published articles in the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry and the Journal of the American Dental Association. She has served as a contributing editor to the Dental Study Club Journal, which contains reviews from leading clinicians on articles from over seventy-five international dental journals. She also lectures on the subjects of restorative and esthetic dentistry.
Dr. Hedlund is an active contributor to organized dentistry. This began when she served as the first female president of an MCG dental class and a representative to the American Student Dental Association executive council. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, the Hinman Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry, where she has completed over 2,000 hours of continuing education in dental studies.
She has received her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry; this is an honor held by fewer than two percent of dentists in the country. In July 2006, she became one of the youngest women ever to receive a Mastership from the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Hedlund paid for a large portion of her education and received a lot of smile practice in the Miss America Scholarship programs. She was second runner-up in Miss Augusta in 1991 and second runner-up in Tennessees America Junior Miss Pageant in 1985. Dr. Hedlunds family and herself are members of Roswell United Methodist Church and has attended Bible Study Fellowship for over 20 years where she served as the Substitute Teaching Leader for five and a half years. Dr. Hedlund is also a Master Scuba Diver.
Dr. Alison Rufo Widmann received her DMD from the Medical College of Georgia, now known as The Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Health Sciences University in Augusta, GA. Her undergraduate studies were at Augusta College and the University of Georgia. A native of Augusta, GA, Dr. Widmann began her dental career alongside her father, Dr. Raymond Rufo, in 1986. It was a wonderful experience to practice with my father and to learn how to listen and develop loving and caring relationships with patients, recalls Dr. Widmann.
She completed the continuing education program with the Dawson Academy and has additional training in removable partial and complete dentures. Dr. Widmann has enjoyed extending her patient base to children. Her twenty-plus years in providing dental care have led her to the practice of Dr. Angela Hedlund. Dentistry is a science and an art where proper function of the masticatory system produces optimum esthetics, marvels Dr. Widmann.
Dr. Widmann enjoys cooking, teaching, and sewing. Having homeschooled her children during their elementary years of school, Dr. Widmann taught high school chemistry and health at Veritas Classical School in Alpharetta, GA. On her mission trip to Guatemala, Dr. Widmann treated patients alongside native dentists. She enjoyed serving as seamstress for the Perimeter Academy of the Arts Ballet. She is a member of Perimeter Church.
She has been a volunteer in childrens ministry at Perimeter, served on the womens retreat committee, and is passionately engaged in her Bible Study group. Her family has lived in Peachtree Corners in North River Crossing for fourteen years. Dr. Widmann has 2 children, Graham and Pearl. Graham is a recent graduate of Berry College and Pearl is attending Berry College.
Kathyattended the Bryman Academy focusing on dental office management. She is a Jersey Girl who recently moved to the Georgia area, after spending the last three years in Southern California, very happy to be back on the east coast.Kathy has been in the dental field managing dental offices for over twenty-five years. She is passionate about customer service and dentistry, loves building relationships and is always available to answer your scheduling, billing or insurance questions.
Amber graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene where she was awarded the Clinical Excellence award. She has been practicing dental hygiene for over 15 years and aspires to give each patient a pleasant, fun and informative experience, with the goal of achieving his or her ideal dental health in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
Natalyaattended the University of Buffalo where she received her Bachelor of Science degree and has been in the dental field for over 15 years. She started as a dental assistant where she quickly became passionate about dentistry. Her passion inspired her to further her education by becoming a Dental Hygienist, entering the dental hygiene program at Fortis College. There, she earned her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene, graduating with honors. Natalya is a gifted patient educator and very passionate about helping people understand the importance of their oral health. She is quick to make patients feel at ease by building confidence, trust, and friendship with each patient. She is committed to educating patients on their individual needs.
Lorenaattended the Georgia School of Dental Assisting in Roswell where she completed her training as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. She absolutely loves helping others improve their smile. Lorena is currently expanding her education at Georgia State University to become a Dental Hygienist.
Lorena loves spending time with her son and her family. She also enjoys cake decorating and playing soccer during her free time. Lorena always takes time to make sure that her patients are completely comfortable and understand their dental procedures thoroughly.
When Ana is not working, she is spending time with her daughter, Ailani, and her family. Ana loves traveling and is always talking about her next destination. She is often thinking about a beach vacation. Next time youre in the office ask her where shes traveling to next!
Taylor and her husband recently moved back from California, where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton serving in the USMC. While in California she started her dental career where she attended UEI College for her Dental Assisting Degree in 2019. She achieved her RDA license just under a year later and loves helping patients better understand their treatment options. She is always learning something new about dentistry, especially Invisalign.
Since moving back to Georgia she has enjoyed spending her free time with her younger brother and Gardening with her dog, Huckle Bear. Taylor is always learning a new skill or craft. Some of these include crocheting, learning a new craft or restoring furniture. Ask what project she is starting next time you are in the office!
Cherylattended the University of Georgia and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters in Accountancy. She earned her CPA license in the states of Tennessee and Georgia. After many years of focusing primarily on raising kids and teaching online accounting classes part-time, she joined our staff in 2019 to help with in-house accounting. Cheryl and her family enjoy traveling and that led her to also start a travel business in 2018. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, going for long walks and cheering on her kids in their sports.
