Dr. Sulochana Gurung was born in Nepal and first trained to be a dentist through the Peoples Dental College and Hospital in her native country. In her quest to become a dentist in the United States, she went on to achieve her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she earned research honors with a concentration in Oral Maxillofacial surgery and Aesthetic dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Gurung also received numerous clinical, academic, research and leadership awards.

Dr. Gurung is an excellent dentist, and I can confidently say she is the best in the field. I still remember getting my cavity filling done by her back almost fifteen years ago when she was still a dental student. She had to bring in a patient to work on, and being her sister I volunteered. It was a silver filling, and she did such a meticulous job, even her supervisor were extremely pleased with her work. I was happy to have a cavity filled but I felt proud as her sister on her appraisal. On the side note, the filling is still intact and protecting my teeth. And now after all these years she has her own establishment. On my visit, she did thorough consultation, a complete x-ray of my teeth was taken. And again, I got some filling and sealants, which feels amazing. My teeth sensitivity is gone. Other than that she has an amazing office set up with latest equipment, a very cozy waiting area with a snack and juice bar, comfortable operatory areas with pleasing interiors, and the most amazing part is the ceiling Television. My teeth filling was hours long, but having conversation with her and getting to watch television was a fantastic experience. Oral health is very important and you should not compromise with that in any circumstance. I highly recommend Dr. Gurung, not only as a sister but more as a very satisfied patient.

It was a little confusing to find the main gate at first but I realized it was on the second floor of the building. So I buzz the door pushing the number 2. And they unlocked the door. In the clinic, I saw a very clean and friendly environment when I walked in. The receptionist and dental assistant were cordial in communicating their dental process and membership plan they had. Dr. Sulochana Gurung was thorough in checking what I needed to get done and in planning further steps. TBH, I have a pretty messed up teeth. They almost look like the mountains of Nepal with my past history of mishaps encoded in them. It's so bad that I know I will probably need to keep going to the dentist for years to come. I liked a lot that they have an affordable membership plan, best for those who do not have a dental plan, but if you do, with it you might just be able to get another layer of smile.

You will be able to witness one of the modern dental facilities with exceptional service from Dr Gurung's team and her outstanding consultation!!! Glad they are able accept variety of payment plans like credit cards, care credit, sunbit etc...

Dr. Sulochana is the best dentist in town. She's very thorough and she would really take the time to answer any questions and explain things so patiently. Overall staff service is excellent! Lastly the office looks very clean and organized, and seems to be updated with the newest equipment.

Essence Smiles is THE place for the best dentistry. I came to know of them through a family member and I was not dissappointed to say the least. The whole team is friendly and professional, and they really care about their patients. The place is nice and neat. Dr. Sulochana Gurung is awesome and she will get you right. She is the most kind and compassionate doctor I've had the pleasure to be treated by and I will be coming here (all the way from Connecticut) for all my dental care. 100/100 would recommend.

My whole family are patients with Dr Sulochana. She is amazing with her detailed consultation and gives priority care to each patient. She is also very professional and friendly. Her office also has the latest technology for dental care which I love..Their staff is also very respectful and kind. Dr. Gurung and the entire staff noticeably very friendly and very helpful. I have been searching for a good Dentist for some time. Everyone I called never called back with an appointment except them. I went to their website and found easy to use tool to set up an appointment.... instead I called their office and Om helped me to set up and appointment the very next day. I'm very happy with their services and looking forward to my appointment next week. I would highly recommend this place

Great place to go and take care of your teeth. Highly professional , courteous and friendly staff made me feel like family. Explained very well about what was going on. Dr Gurung and her team is outstanding. Very rare to find this kind of dental clinic in NYC with utmost level of care to their patients. I highly recommend this dental clinic.

The space was extremely clean, the staff was amicable and the dental equipment. After my teeth cleaning she explained to me in detail my dental issues, actionable needed on my end and laid out plans for future visits.
