From an early age, I always loved helping people. During my time as a Captain in the United States Army, I was blessed to serve the dental needs for America's men and women in uniform.Today, I am grateful toserve such an amazing community as Los Gatos, CA and its surrounding neighborhoods of Saratoga, Campbell, and San Jose. I am in a unique position to change my patients lives while building genuine, lasting friendships with them. Its a joy to run into current and former patients, as well as their families, and be greeted by big, beautiful smiles! Whether we see each other on the court when Im coaching, running the GreatRace together, or walking my weimaraners along Santa Cruz Ave, my patients my friends are quick to share their Exceptional Smiles!!

Correcting someones bite makes a lasting and positive change for that person. When you know your teeth are healthy and beautiful, you feel better about yourself and your confidence blossoms. That leadsto greater success at school, work, and in ones personal endeavors.

Orthodontic treatment is more than creating smiles, of course. Properly aligned teeth reduce stress on the jaw, face, and neck, which can decrease muscle and joint pain. In addition, properly positioned teeth are much easier to keep clean, and that decreasesthe likelihood of future dental disease. Orthodontic care can also help people who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea.

The courses I took for my doctorate and postgraduate masters degree were rigorous and provided an excellent foundation in the science and art of orthodontics. However, ours is a constantly evolving specialty. Amazing advances in technology, as well as techniques and materials, are revolutionizing the field.

Each year I attend national, regional, and local conferences and seminars. I also participate in online orthodontic forums and lecture series, attend Invisalign and SureSmile events, and study Airway-Focused orthodontics to treat obstructive sleep apnea. Also, I lead several dental study clubs and provide clinical mentorship and continuing education to dentists.

By staying current on research and data-driven results, Im able to bring the best to my patients. Im particularly enthusiastic about the possibilities offered by technology. From more comfortable diagnostics and treatment to accelerated care and truly individualized treatment planning, I ensure my patients are receiving the right care for their new smile!

I am proud to call Los Gatos my home. My wife, Dr. Diana Swanson, is an endodontist (a dental specialist in root canals). We met at Harvard while taking ballroom dance classesway before Dancing with the Stars became a TV hit!! We have three lovely and energetic daughters: Maya, and our twins, Mika and Zoe. Our family also includes two weimaraners, Laika and Sochi, as well as two orange cats, Carmel and Taffy ...things that orthodontists love! Blue Sky is our familys betta fish.

When not working, Im with my family. My girls are on the Northstar Ski Team in Tahoeand play on competitive tennis teams too. Im also a former volleyball and girls basketball youth coach. We travel a lot:whether exploring our national parks, going on fishing adventures, or venturing to new and exciting destinations.

I love the outdoors, architecture, and all things aquatic (fish, waterbugs, turtles). Looking back, I can't believe how generous my parents were to let me have so many aquariums as a kid. Its a good thing mostdid not escape into the house. Ialso love books and the color yellow. My favorite sport is basketball. It is amazingto have the Warriors as my home team!

I grew up in a smallrural community, where we relied upon our neighbors to be able to get our harvests in and our animals cared for. This mentality has carried over to my love for living and working in the same community here in Los Gatos. We all win when our community wins!

As a treament coordinator, my goal is to make everyone's orthodontic experience stress free and enjoyable! I love welcoming patients to our office and introducing them to the world of orthodontics and all it has to offer. I am also really good at translating some of Dr. Swanson's jokes. The long-term relationship that I develop with my patients and their families is the most rewarding part of my job. When I see the confidence that having an Exceptional Smile brings them, its priceless.

I love working with patients and parents to coordinate a treatment plan that works for them and their life. Its amazing to see a patient transform and become happier and more confident as their appearance changes. Of course, those beautiful, contagious smiles are the best! I keep our Cool Cats Club (our kidsclub) fun and exciting, to helpyoung patients stay excited about treatment. I also offer early treatment education and monitor growth and development for our younger patients. Our patients are our top priority: we love learning who they are and make sure they receive the care, attention, and smile they deserve!

Being at work is the easy part! When I get home, I have 3 kids and a husband all needing my attention My days off are spent focused on the family with soccer games, barbeques, and cleaning fish tanks. Or maybe, it just seems like I have to clean the fish tank all the time!

I look forward to meeting new people, learning about their lives, and building real relationships with them. Its incredible to watch a person grow and change as they get a new smile and Im thrilled to be part of that process! Along with Dr. Swanson and my coworkers, I strive to make sure patients and their family members feel comfortable, welcome, and have amazing visits that keep them smiling!

On weekends, I spend a lot of time running after my pooch; he isnt so well trained Dog training is definitely on my short list! I also love to fish. In fact, I always carry 2 poles in my car to be ready for quick action on the waters.

One of my unique responsibilities is to ensure a proper celebration ensues upon successful achievement of your Exceptional Smile. It truly is such a fabulous time to see all the bright big smiles. We have been even known to have some spontaneous dance offs !!!

When Im not working, I love to read, play tabletop and video games, and take care of my two cats. Every yearfor my birthday, a group of us dress up and celebrate at the local Renaissance Faire. Huzzah

I love being part of an amazing team, and helping Dr. Swanson and our patients achieve great smiles! We have a fun, supportive office and our patients become part of our orthodontic family. Outside of work, my time is spent with my husband and five kids. We love family trips, especially camping and fishing. My husband is great at wetting the lines while I actually catch FISH :) We have two trained house rabbits and a hamster, too!

I love watching the whole transformation: a new smile changes a persons outlook and gives them much greater confidence! Being part of that change, and helping people whove become my friends achieve their smile goals, is incredibly rewarding. Dr. Swanson and my coworkers are more than that: they are my family, and our patients are part of that! We enjoy laughing together, and my days are filled with smiles. I offer chairside support, assisting with orthodontic procedures and making sure our patient is comfortable and understands what were doing.

My time off is busy, sinceIve three kids who keep my hubby and I very active. We find time to watch Antiques Roadshow, though! I love running, hanging out with my cat Squish, and watching the Giants. Im a big baseball fan and especially like watching my two younger brothers play! In a former life, I was a DJ;just try to stump me on some lyrics on your next visit :)

I am a people person and love talking with and getting to know our patients and families. We have a great team at Erik Swanson Orthodontics and our patients become part of our family.I help patients during visits byworking chairside with Dr. Swanson during various procedures. I also explain what were doing to thepatient andparents, keep our work environment sterile and orderly, and support my coworkers.

My favorite sports teams are the LA Dodgers, LA Lakers, and the New Orleans Saints; don't hold this against me :) My husband plays the bagpipes and we can often be found atthe Scottish Highland games.

I love meeting new patients and learning about their lives. Like Dr. Swanson and the rest of our team, I want patients to look forward to coming to see us, because we look forward to seeing them! We serve a great community and its fun to see familiar smiles around town. I seat patients, prepare them to see Dr. Swanson, and explain what well be doing. Then I offer chairside assistance:acting as a second pair of hands for the doctor while talking with our patient and making sure theyre happy.

I enjoy my weekends with my family, our horses, and our other pets. Any time I can get away I go to the beach to watch the wildlife, surfers, and the ocean. Disneyland is my favorite magical place and my favorite character is Minnie Mouse! I also like motorcycle riding, though as a passenger. Someday Ill learn to ride on my own!
