Dr. Slingbaum and his family feel right at home in Florida where he was raised and graduated from high school in Cooper City. Dr. Slingbaum attended Florida State University where he received his B.S. degree in Psychology with minors in Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Slingbaum received his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He returned to his roots in Florida to continue his education at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine Post-Graduate Program in Endodontics. He has been in private practice in South Florida ever since.
Dr. Slingbaum is highly involved in Dental Education. He has been serving as an Assistant Professor at Nova Southeastern University since 2000. He is involved with didactic and clinical education at the graduate and post-graduate level. Dr. Slingbaum is the Director of Instructional and Information Technology and Director of Continuing Education for the College of Dental Medicine. He is currently on staff at Memorial Hospital and has given many lectures locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Slingbaum is affiliated with the following professional dental organizations: American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, South Florida District Dental Association, American Association of Endodontics, Florida Endodontic Association, South Broward Dental Society (Past President, twice), Memorial Dental Study Club, ITI South Florida Study Club.
Dr. Landy grew up in New York where she earned a B.S. in Human Biology, Health, and Society from Cornell University. She then earned her D.M.D. at The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine with honors in Community Oral Health. She was also awarded the Vernon Brightman Research Society Award, the Adrian R. and Regina Kristeller Prize in Radiology, and the Doctors Samuel and Louis Rossman Endodontic Scholarship Fund Award.

Dr. Slingbaum is a real pro. I was pretty nervous about my first root canal, having heard about how painful it is. He set me at eas very quickly, was extremely professional, and quickly got to work. 40 minutes and zero pain later, he was done. He's obviously done this thousands of times, and his experience showed. Highly recommended.

I just left Dr. Slingbaum's office after having a root canal procedure, so I wanted to write this review as soon as possible so I could advise the public of the exact details. I was absolutely appalled by Dr. Slingbaum's bedside manner. While he was numbing my tooth he became frustrated because I was moving. At one point he said in a rude and frustrated manner, "that's your problem you are moving too much." When someone sticks a needle in your jaw it can be painful and you may jerk, but not on purpose. He was extremely rude and had me in tears throughout the procedure. Not to mention the office I was in was missing floor paneling and the instruments were not covered in plastic, like standard dental facilities. I would like to advise that if you are in need of a root canal, head to the mainland or another endodontist because Dr. Joel Slingbaum severely lacks patient compassion and medical professionalism.
