Root canal therapy is arguably among the most maligned medical treatments, let alone dental treatments! In fact, in an American Association of Endodontists survey from 2012, more respondents reported that they would rather speak publicly or have a job interview than undergo root canal treatment. Put another way, this treatment is as feared as being a passenger on a plane flying through a storm! As specialists in this non-surgical therapy and endodontic surgical treatments at Endodontic Associates of Georgia in Atlanta, we find this survey to be unfortunate. There are many myths at play, which have contributed to unfounded fears over this common, safe, painless, fast, and healthy approach to treating a severely damaged tooth.

False! Also, the root canals themselves are a part of the tooth that is accessed during treatment. They contain blood vessels and nerves. When this nervy pulp is damaged, it can produce intense pain. This pain may be caused by dental decay, disease, or other trauma to the tooth. It is NOT caused by root canal therapy. Patients are often relieved to have root canal treatment because they can finally sleep through the night again. They can concentrate on work or school without being sidelined by severe and often persistent pain. Theyre also able to enjoy their favorite foods again without pain. Once the inside of the tooth is accessed, the damaged tissue is removed, and the canals are cleaned, reshaped, and sealed off to prevent reinfection, painful pressure subsides, and healing begins.

Absolutely untrue! By treating severe infections, we stop the spread of the disease to other parts of the face and body. We also prevent potentially lethal systemic infections. Contrary to outdated theories proposed at the dawn of modern medicine, root canal-treated teeth do not harbor harmful bacteria in dentinal tubules that leak into internal organs. Such falsehoods, partially summed up with the erroneous focal infection theory, have been particularly dangerous. Many people through the years have believed them. Teeth that could have been preserved were pulled instead.

False! For starters, a mature tooth does not need the pulp tissue. It is structurally sound without it, and so no. Also, dental extractions or teeth removal should always be a last resort. There is no other type of tooth that is superior in form and function from the real thing.

Additionally, your teeth also support the structure of the surrounding bone in the jaw. Once teeth are lost, bone loss follows. This process can have destructive consequences on the appearance and shape of your face, as well as your ability to chew food and speak clearly and correctly.

This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as root canal treatment-related misconceptions go. We also encourage you to think of root canal therapy more in terms of an efficient deep cleaning for the inside of the tooth. It is also an affordable, tooth-preserving alternative to time-consuming and costly restorative treatments. Call Endodontic Associates of Georgia at (770) 954-8338 without delay. Our specialists, Drs Damaries Candelario-Soto, Yanina Figueroa, Julio Chinchilla, Joseph Yoo, and Shaletha Bolden, will get you out of pain and back on a healthy track in no time.

By communicating clearly what you can expect during your treatment, we are often able to alleviate dental fear. We encourage you to bring headphones and music to listen to during your treatment and ask us about dental sedation options.

Dr. Yoo is great! I was nervous about my first root canal, but he explained the treatment plan in detail beforehand so I knew what to expect. He did an excellent job, and even my dentist was complimentary of his work! I will be recommending him to friends & family.

If I had any idea how expensive it would be I would never have gone here after my dentist referred me. But of course they give you no estimate of the bill until it's over. Plus they tested the wrong tooth and still charged me for that. Cost me several hundred dollars even after insurance, just to be told they don't know why my tooth is hurting and sent me on my way.

I had severe pain and needed a retreat done for my root canal and decided to go to a specialist. Luckily, I went here and Dr. Yoo made all the pain go away. As well as for the experience it went by very quick and painless.

Let me start first by stating that I absolutely hate "the dentist"! But this office IS AMAZING!! Cindy, the receptionist is the best person ever! She literally called me 4 different times to rush my appointment to a closer date, which was my request. I was in so much pain. I needed an emergency root canal. Brooke the dental assistant was super cool and gave me a calm vibe before the dentist appeared. Had to save the best for last! Dr Soto gave me THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! I have had more painful experiences at a cleaning at other places! Lol! I voluntarily signed up for another "optional" procedure immediately for a tooth that wasnt hurting as bad. Dr Soto was my hero for today! Definitely recommended!!

Other then the usual no fun of a root canal, this place was great! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and dr. Soto was great! If going to the dentist made me nervous then this is the place! They go above and beyond to make you relaxed. The massage to relax me could have been a little longer and the tequila I asked for never quite got to me. So instead of the six stars I would have rated them I can only give them five ... If you have to have a root canal this is the place to go.

I just needed a consultation, but all the ladies I interacted with went above and beyond to help me. They also offered assistance with referrals, made several calls on my behalf and asked me if they could help me further after they had to refer me to an oral surgeon. Additionally, the office interior is pleasant, serene, and beautiful.

Wonderful experience. Dealing with Dr. Jeannette Jimenez and support staff was a pleasure. My only criticism is the cost of the procedure is high as compared to other similar services offered on the market.

Dr. Yoo really took his time and made me feel as comfortable as possible. He did a great job in a tough situation. The office may run slow sometimes but hey, at least we know they're giving their patients the best care, right! I would recommend Dr. Yoo and Endodontics Associates of Roswell to my family and friends.

Helpful from the first phone conversation. Lauren was insightful and the suggestions offered caused me to take action to help myself, when I probably wouldn't have. I needed antibiotics due to swelling and probably would not have taken action if it weren't for her encouragement. Dr Yoo was thorough, not pushy, and wanted to make sure I understood my options so I could make an informed decision without regret. I felt that I got what I needed although I opted not to have a root canal. If first impressions start with a phone conversation, call and see for yourself. It felt good to have a group of people listen and respond with compassion and concern.

I never write reviews but I had to take the time to write this one. After an absolutely horrific experience at Buckhead Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, who carelessly took my money for procedures I did not need resulting in $5,000 out of pocket, illegally charging my insurance, and an emergency root canal, I ended up at Endodontics Associates of Roswell. This practice, Dr. Yoo specifically, were absolutely incredible. He and the receptionists were so patient and helpful throughout the entire process. I think this is how it's supposed to be, but for some reason I have always been cursed with awful dental experiences. But this place is reasonable and ethical and because of them, I may be the only person to say I had an amazing root canal experience and would totally do it again here. I 100% recommend this place to anyone that unfortunately needs their services, you are in very good hands. Thank you Dr. Yoo and associates!

My experience at Endodontics Associates of Roswell was above and beyond my expectations. I am so grateful that I found them! Front office: I worked with Robin, who was so kind and helpful...she was able to accommodate me to get a next day appointment for a root canal as I was in extreme pain. She called me back same day with an estimate for the procedure after verifying insurance benefits. The office appearance: Decorated really modern and was warm and inviting throughout the entire office. Looked very new and extremely clean. Root canal procedure: I can't say enough good things about Dr. Joseph Yoo. He set me at ease right away and really took the time to listen to my concerns (I've had surgery for TMJ disorder so dental work usually causes my jaw acute pain and spasms). Dr. Yoo was so gentle and patient throughout the root canal that I had zero pain...he is truly talented at what he does. He is also awesome at administering the local anesthesia...great technique so that you don't feel it. It's been 2 days since the procedure and I've had no pain at all, which amazes me. This was my first root canal and it was a far better experience than getting fillings at my dentist. Catherine assisted Dr. Yoo and not only was she excellent at her job, but she talked with me and made me laugh and smile, which really helped to calm me. Overall: Everyone I came in contact with exhibited true kindness and caring. Professionalism, knowledge and techniques were top notch. I hope I don't need another root canal, but if I do, I will absolutely be coming here again.

Had to have a root canal and already hate a normal trip to the dentist let alone major work. Dr. Yoo and the staff were very friendly and helpful and I didn't feel anything. Sucks I had to have it done but if I had to do it again I'd come back here.
