Dr. Alan Wonhee Leeattended the College of Dental Medicine at Columbia University, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. During his senior year at Columbia, Dr. Lee was also elected to the honorsprogram and received the Empire State Academy of CosmeticDentistry Award.
His passion for preserving natural dentition ledhim to continue his education at the School of Dentistry at Marquette University, where hecompleted his endodontic specialty training.While at Marquette, Dr. Lee also earned a master of science degree andwas awarded the Advanced Dental Specialist GraduateResidency Endowed Scholarship and Post-Graduate ScholarshipAwards.
Before attending Columbia University for his dental degree, Dr. Lee served as a Military Dental Specialist in the US Army. During his service, he received numerous commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal from the Secretary of the US Army.
Dr. Lee's research has been presented at the American Association for Dental Research's annual meeting and published in numerous prestigious journals. Also, he continues to lecture at various continuing education classes. As a member of the Dean's Faculty at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, he currently teaches dental students and residents on his in-depth knowledge of endodontics and microsurgery.
Currently, Dr. Lee practices both surgical and non-surgical, laser-, and microscope-enhanced endodontics in his private practice in Reston, Virginia. His highest priority is providing the highest quality of personalized care for hispatients using the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutictechnologies available.

Dr.Lee's method of "managing" a patient that is in pain was amazing. He calmly assured me that he would accomplish my root canal professionally, he was firm but honest that there are risks with this procedure but that he would complete this work and eliminate my pain while constantly ensuring I was as comfortable as possible. I felt confident that his expertise was solid and that I was going to be in a better place when he finished. My pain is gone and I feel like I have a fresh start after my root canal. His staff is also kind and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Lee for expert help with difficult dental challenges. The location of Dr. Lee's office is easy to find and access. I had my first root canal performed by Dr. Lee last week. Dr. Lee and his staff are very professional and very friendly. I went in for a consultation a week before the root canal and Dr. Lee explained to me exactly what needed to be done. The root canal took about an hour and I only had to take 600 mg of ibuprofen on the day of the surgery for just a slight amount of pain. I did not need any medication after the first day so, to say the least, I was happily surprised. If you need a root canal please give Endodontic Excellence a call! Thank you Dr. Lee!

I just had the BEST experience getting a root canal. No one wants a root canal, but if you have to get one this is the place to get an appointment with - they were kind, explained everything in detail, they were efficient and I was out of there in an hour. Highly Recommend!

Dr. Wonhee Lee performed a root canal procedure in 2019 that relieved me of a painful toothache. He was very professional and thoughtful at the time, and explained the entire process for which I was extremely grateful. Fast forward to 2022 where once again, I had a painful tooth ache that prevented me from eating on one side of my mouth. I immediately thought of Dr. Wonhee Lee, googled his new location in Reston, VA., and called to schedule an appointment which was confirmed in a timely manner. On today's date, 11/03/2022, I was extremely satisfied with the results of the consultation, the root canal procedure and outcome, as well as, the professionalism of Dr. Wonhee Lee and his entire staff, which includes his receptionists and dental assistant. I drove approximately 47 miles from my home in Upper Marlboro, Md. to Dr. Wonhee Lee's location in Reston, VA, because he continues to provide outstanding dental services. I trust him and his staff with all of my endodontist needs.

I had an emergency visit and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond for me in my situation. It is no surprise as Dr. Kim and his assistant were exceptional. I have a lot of reservations about dental work and they both were extremely kind, patient, professional. They were so in tune with my body language and were completely accommodating. It says a lot when a specialist is available on a Friday evening to take on a patient in pain. I am so grateful to Dr. Kim and his staff. They are truly a dream team. Their office has top of the line tech in the field that helped solve a mystery that couldn't be seen without a 3D scan. I was able to see the whole process and felt that I was in the best hands. I can't thank them enough for making a painful experience an incredible one.

My experience with this practice was wonderful. Dr. Lee and his team provided me a great full service experience! From the patient coordinators, to the procedure, and post care. Dr.Lee and his team were great! I felt very comfortable with their services. TV in the ceiling was a huge bonus in my experience. I was watching my favorite show while they were operating on my infected root canal. Never felt so comfortable at a Dental/Endodontics office before. Everyone in the office were kind and professional. They made it very easy for me to manage my appointments and schedule through text. I forgot my appointment time and date but I wasn't worried because they send me reminders with full detail, including the address. Anyway, my whole experience with them was awesome. I almost forgot. Before my original visit, I was feeling intense pain in my root canal because it was infected. It was a Wednesday. My appointment with them was on Friday. My main dentist office (who are also great) called Dr Lee office and asked if they can see me for an emergency procedure 2 days before my appointment. They accepted me and stayed past closing time (1hr or 1hr 30mins) to make sure I was comfortable again. @Dr Lee & Staffs Thank you so much for everything!

Dr. Lee and the entire staff at this practice are knowledgeable, competent, thorough, and polite. I feel very lucky I stumbled onto this practice after calling a dentist for a second opinion on a root canal. I didn't even know about endodontists before that dental practice suggested that I should consult with one next. I am very glad I did. From the advanced imaging technology used to visualize my tooth, to the thorough explanation the doctor provided of the situation, to the painlessness and ease of the root canal procedure, I feel I had the best outcome to a very stressful situation. (The first general dentist I saw said my root canal would take two hours if he performed it, and my root canal here took well under an hour.) I went in with a lot of anxiety about the procedure, but was treated with respect throughout. I was also scheduled quickly because I was experiencing pain, which I thought was extremely considerate and went above and beyond. The insurance verification went smoothly as well. Highly recommend.

Just completed Part II, the final part of the procedure. Extraordinary attention to detail by Dr. Lee & his team, with the best available technology, everything quick, efficient, painless. Root canals can be serious if not handled right: you have to be sure 100% of the infection is removed and permanently, etc. With these guys, it's a virtual certainty. Office is friendly, accommodating to your schedule and needs. No one wants to have an infection tooth, but if you are fortunate enough to be able to get treatment, this is the top of the line. I am so impressed with Dr. Lee. I had a complicated root canal that took 2 sessions. Because of infection my jaw bone was necrotizing and in most cases the tooth was going to have to be pulled. Dr. Lee removed the dead tissue and once healed was able to complete the root canal saving my tooth. I took one dose of advil after 1st session and nothing after 2nd session. I am still in awe of his ability.

Dr. Lee and his assistants Hannah and Silvia did a wonderful job. My tooth had been causing me trouble for nearly 3 years but Dr. Lee was able to relieve my pain in just an hour. The root canal procedure was pretty much painless, I was about to doze off mid-procedure. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way and the staff worked efficiently in the front and in the back. It is clear that they really care about their patients--which I think a lot of practices lack these days.

Dr. Lee is simply the best! I unfortunately had many unpleasant dental visits prior to finding Endodontic Excellence, and was very hesitant to start another tract with a practice. I had a complex case of root canal, but Dr. Lee was very patient and thorough in educating me throughout the entire process. I would definitely recommend for anyone who are looking for quality care!
