Dr. Sanfilippo received his dental degree from the University of Pacific, San Francisco, and he went on to complete his specialty training in endodontics at the prestigious Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. He deservedly retired from full-time practice in 2013, but he continues to volunteer at many local clinics. Dr. Sanfilippo returns to our practice part time, because he loves helping patients so much. We are so fortunate to have him around.
When not helping patients, Dr. Sanfilippo enjoys learning Italian and fishing. He also travels to Africa to teach endodontics a few times each year. Over the years, he has earned a tremendous amount of respect from both our referring doctors and his peers, so were extremely happy that he chooses to continue working with our practice.
Dr. Nguyen, a Bay Area native, completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley where she graduated with honors. She subsequently received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. During her time there, Dr. Nguyen received the Academy of General Dentistry Award for her excellent clinical skills. After Michigan, Dr. Nguyen joined UCSF and practiced for a year in their Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program. In the following two years, she began her specialty training in endodontics at the Saint Louis University Center for Advanced Dental Education and conducted extensive research in cone beam CT interpretation for her master thesis. She also taught at the Southern Illinois University School of Dentistry as an assistant clinical instructor.
Dr. Nguyen is an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontics. She is also active in the local dental communities and are members of a Spear Study Club. A well-respected endodontist by her peers and her patients, Dr. Nguyen takes pride in her meticulous dental skills and flawless restorative care. She always treats her patients with a humanistic and compassionate approach. She truly believes in personalized dental care and is known by her patients for her warm, pleasant nature and approachability.
Outside of patient care, Dr. Nguyen also enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter. They enjoy traveling, cooking, spending time outdoor together, and most importantly, cheering for the 49ers and San Jose Sharks.
Having a doctor like Dr. Nguyen makes you actually want to get a root canal! First let me say that I hate going to the dentist. When I get my teeth cleaned I am counting the seconds until they finish. So, when I woke up one weekend with bad tooth pain, I was really hoping it would just go away on it's own. By Monday, it was clear that it was not, so off to my dentist I went. The dentist was pretty sure that I needed a root canal, so she called and got me into Endodontic Associates right away. For those people who say root canals are terrible, I'm not sure what they are talking about. Saw Dr. Lee for an emergency root canal twice now- once in 2020 and yesterday. The front desk fit me in in same day I saw my dentist who referred me both times, which was a saving grace! Dr. Lee is sweet and efficient. She diagnosed my problem immediately and I was out in just less than an hour without any residual tooth pain- only the typical mild soreness after a root canal surgery (ashamed to admit I've had several). Would recommend Dr. Lee and her staff to anyone unfortunate to find themselves requiring a root canal surgery.

Dr. Lee did a complicated root canal on my tooth today. I did not feel the shots or the procedure. She is kind, professional, and very careful. Normally, I'm afraid of dentists. I highly trust and recommend Dr. Lee. Jackie, her assistant, is very sweet and checks on you while the the doctor is working to make sure you are comfortable.

No one wants to have a root canal, however Dr. Lee made this experience soooooo easy. My 2 root canals (2 separate visits about 6 months apart) were completely painless and she explained each part as she went. Dr. Lee is obviously very knowledgeable and experienced (My dentist even commented on the great work she did looking at my X-ray afterwards!). The support staff was very helpful in getting scheduled, explaining insurance costs, and following up after treatment. The office space is gorgeous--completely up to date and modern. I sure hope I don't have to have another root canal, but if I do I'm definitely returning to Dr. Lee.

Dr. Frances Lee is by far the best Endodontic doctor that I have ever seen. I have always been very afraid of having any dental work done. I just finished my root canal done by Dr. Frances Lee. I was very surprised at how good Dr. Lee was. I didn't feel any discomfort at all. If you are like me who is very afraid of having root canal done, please make an appointment to see Fr. Frances Lee. She is gentle, compassionate, pleasant and with superb endodontic knowledge and skill. Your experience will change your mind about root canal.

Dr. Nguyen is very good. She has very good bed side manners and is calm and listened to all my concerns very well. She took time to explain my X-ray and the treatment well. They have a beautiful office and the entire staff are great!

Thank you Dr. Lee! Your office was so beautiful and staff so helpful I couldn't help taking a video when I first walked in. My face was so swollen I wasn't feeling well but you and your environment made me feel so much better even before you started treating me! The rubber cover you used while working was new to me and I appreciate you making sure I was comfortable with it. Everything was so modern and efficient and the root canal was painless! One more to go but I'm actually looking forward to seeing you again!

Outstanding! Dr. An Nguyen and her staff: Jackie, Adelina and Esmerelda are exceptional. Professional, kind, thorough, friendly and welcoming. I was put at ease immediately. They really take the time and care about patients. The offices are gorgeous and calming. So immaculately clean and all equipment are state of the art. I was incredibly anxious about having a root canal but Dr. An and Jackie took such great care it was PAINLESS. Truly. I'm still in awe. I will recommend this dream team to everyone I know. I hope to never require another root canal but if I do, no problem!
