Dr. Chris Carter was born and raised in Greenville. A graduate of Greenville High School, he attended Clemson University for his undergraduate degree and went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. Before specialization in Endodontics, Dr. Carter expanded his knowledge and scope of general dentistry by completing a general practice residency at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, SC. Dr. Carter then returned to the Medical University of South Carolina for Endodontic Residency where he earned his certificate in Endodontics as well as his Masters of Science in Dentistry.During his residency, Dr. Carter received extensive training on the use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in Endodontics, and also completed research dealing with various root canal filling techniques.
Dr. Carter is a Board Certified Endodontist by the American Board of Endodontics (Diplomate). This distinction is the highest academic and professional honor achievable for the specialty of Endodontics. Achieving the status of 'Diplomate' in the American Board of Endodontics only comes after rigorous testing and critique of a specialist 's knowledge and work in the field, and doing so takes hundreds of hours of additional time and effort on top of completion of one 's specialty residency. Achieving this honor is a testament to the calling Dr. Carter has to provide only the highest quality of care for his patients.
Dr. Carter feels privileged to volunteer his time to provide dental care to the underserved both locally and abroad. He enjoys traveling with Dental Community Fellowship on international missions trips to countries such as Ecuador, Honduras, Haiti, and Burundi. Locally, Dr. Carter serves at Our Lady of Mercy free dental clinic on John's Island, and in state-wide events such as Dental Access Day.

Ok how about this!?! My doctor calls me at 8 pm and asks me how I am feeling after root canal!?! I tell him I am feeling great and I had a blast with him!!! Dr. Chris Carter is a Jedi master of the root and made the whole experience unbelievably easy and totally painless. A MASTER of his craft. Words cannot describe the experience. A++ Service

I was extremely impressed after visiting Dr. Carter and staff today. I was given a recommendation after my dentist thought I might need a root canal - I did! The office was clean, everything was very high tech, but most importantly, staff were kind and thorough. Dr. Carter made sure he knew what the problem was, and then talked me through everything that would be done. The procedure was painless (they made sure I felt as comfortable as possible!), and as a sometimes anxious patient, I felt very confident in everyone's abilities and felt very much at ease. I also appreciated that they were very transparent about the cost of everything! I left feeling so relieved and happy that this is where I went to have this done. Tonight, Dr. Carter even gave me a call to make sure I was okay. Everyone here goes above and beyond and I am seriously so impressed. I hope I never have to have another root canal done, but if I need care, I will not hesitate to go back. Thank you all so much!!

I went to them in 2016, and I landed back in there with another problematic tooth this year. Hands down one of the best dental offices out there. The staff is incredible, and especially Dr. Carter! Thank you all.

I was referred to Endodontic Associates of Charleston after my other dentist discovered an underlying infection after a root canal done by another oral surgeon (not Dr. Carter or Chandler!!). After receiving that news, I was not optimistic about the prognosis of my tooth walking into Dr. Chandler's office. His friendly staff was able to immediately fit me in and even took me back directly after I finished my paperwork....no wait time! They have updated technology and are able to get a good look at the problem. Dr. Chandler thoroughly explained what was going on in my tooth, and gave me all of my options for treatment. He even sat and helped me decide which treatment was best for me, and I feel very confident in his expertise. He is very personable and I felt that he truly cared about my teeth and my concerns. Dr. Chandler gave me great options for treatment and made me much more optimistic that I will have a beautiful smile afterward. Their office is very transparent about costs, and gave me a print out of the anticipated costs, including an estimate of what my insurance will cover. I felt much better about my tooth situation after seeing Dr. Chandler and overall had a good experience with him and his exceptionally friendly/professional staff. If you have to get tooth work done, this is the place to go!

I had my first root canal performed here last May and Dr. Carter and his staff were amazing. He (Dr. Carter) makes a follow-up call with the patient after the procedure just to check on them and how they're doing. I found this thoughtful especially given some of my prior experiences with dentists. My procedure and healing were pain free and based on my experience, I highly recommend him to other patients who may be in need of root canal procedure(s). Thanks!

I had such an incredible overall experience with Dr. Carter and his assistant, Lacee. I was referred to them after suffering for over two months in excruciating pain. I had visited several other private practices who assured me nothing was wrong. Dr. Carter and Lacee listened to what I had to say and asked questions about my concerns and my thoughts on the situation. They listened when I spoke and made sure they understood my concerns. They were great at calming all my fears and developed a quick plan of action to get me out of pain that day. They took the time to do what was necessary for a successful treatment. More practices need people like Dr. Carter and Lacee on their team. I can't say enough nice or positive things about this practice. Thank you for all that you do! I greatly appreciate you!!

I had been in pain for over a year with a mystery dental issue! Dr. Carter worked me into his schedule right away (at the request of my wonderful dentist Dr. Peter at Oak Family Dentistry). He numbed me up and dug in (almost literally)! Dr. Carter is a miracle worker! I am forever indebted to him! His staff was top notch! I will recommend him to everyone!!
