Dr. Yu was awarded 'Top Endodontist', a honor given to him by his referring dentists. Dr. Yu takes great pride in the trust that all his referring dentists have in him. When a general dentist himself or herself is in need of endodontic treatment or advice, Dr. Yu is their preferred choice. Having treated many dentists and their staff, Dr. Yu is confident in his ability to provide you with the best endodontic care possible.
Dr. Yu graduated from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2005. He then completed a selective General Practice Residency program at the Veterans Administrations Sepulveda Hospital in Northridge where he cared for medically complex dental patients and performed dental surgery under general anesthesia. Having discovered a passion for endodontics, Dr. Yu returned to Columbia University to complete his specialty training and certificate in Endodontics. Dr. Yu has been practicing dentistry for 15 years. He is board-eligible by the American Board of Endodontics.
After his specialty training, Dr. Yu worked in a busy endodontic group practice for five years. In 2013 he founded EndoCare Center in the city of San Gabriel, and in 2014, Irvine. In the last twelve years as a root canal specialist, he has performed over 18,000 endodontic procedures and more than five hundred endodontic surgeries.
In addition to English, Dr. Yu is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese. In his free time, Dr. Yu and his wife enjoy spending time with their three children and visiting friends. Dr. Yu also enjoys skiing, tennis and golf.

I would highly recommend Dr. Yu! He finally figured out the cause of my tooth pain from over 2 years ago. I hate going to the dentist but this was one the best experience. He was super helpful and did a wonderful job!

Has no regard for his patients. His office and equipment look terrible. He probably once was a pretty good doctor, but now he's in such a rush to get rid of you, he does not even try to hide it. I have suffered with his bad root canal for years now, and next week I will finally have it pulled. I cannot recommend Dr. Yu for anything.

Dr. John Yu did amazing job on root canal. Didn't feel any pain at all except my jaw. Because I had to keep my mouth open all the way. Other than that, he did good job. I can tell he really enjoy fixing the tooth. Highly recommend him. If I need to get my tooth fix, I would not be afraid to go see him or try avoid going there. That's how much I feel comfortable with him and his staff. Thumbs up to Dr. John Yu and his team!

Dr. Yu serves his patients in time of need. I needed an emergency root canal during COVID19 and he came through for me. I am forever grateful. He is everything that Yelp Review had said, "patient, skilled, gentle and friendly." I would recommend Dr Yu at EndoCare Center to my family and friends.

The office is in the 2nd floor of the building. I like this office! They offer very polite and nice services, and highly professional treatment for root canal! They texted me beforehand, telling me what paperwork I need to prepare, and reminded me before the appointment. Dr Yu saved my tooth by fixing a bad root canal I did in the past. Although the remaining tooth is very small I don't want to do implant. Thank you Dr Yu and all the staff in the office! I will definitely recommend this office to my friends, and am willing to endorse with my own experience anytime!

The Doctor seemed really rushed when doing my root canal. And months later it still hurt. So, I went back and he wanted to do yet another procedure for $2,000 more! This guy is after money and has very little regard for his patients. You can pick up immediately on his impatience. Not the comforting bedside manner for sure.

I just had a root canal done by Dr John Yu. The whole experience was really pleasant. I liked how Dr Yu made sure that i was comfortable and well taken cared of throughout the entire process. The prices he charged me were very reasonable. The entire staff was friendly and attentive. I would most definitely come back again for any future dental needs and i can't imagine how any customer could give him a bad review.

Dr. John Yu and his staff are so incredibly friendly and professional. I had a terrible tooth ache and needed a root canal fast, and they got me in to see him super fast. Dr. Yu was fantastic! He explained everything and put me at ease. He is a very skilled endodontist. I experienced very little pain during the procedure and little to no pain after. I was very happy! He was also readily available for questions after I left. I highly recommend him!

This was by far the best dental experience I've ever had. I know I am possibly one of the worst patients a dentist can have because of my extremely sensitive gag reflex, but Dr. Yu and his staff were very accommodating throughout the entire process. I had many complications with a cracked / chipped tooth and Dr. Yu was extremely patient and explained the entire procedure. I discovered I had an impacted tooth underneath the chipped tooth. My general dentist did a partial pulpotomy (essentially a half root canal) and I started to grow skeptical of my general dentist's work since my brother started complaining of pain and he visited a specialist and was told that the general dentist's work was outdated. So I kind of confirmed that with Dr. Yu. Its already been three months and I think the root canal was already starting to decay/rot/get infected. Dr. Yu told me that it was possible that the impacted tooth wasn't even in the root canal and is simply resting against it but it wouldn't be possible to know until a full root canal was attempted. I really hate getting things done but it was pretty painless this time around. My mouth was numbed with a series of shots. They put a rubber dam around my tooth/over my mouth to isolate it. It felt weird at first but I got used to it... turns out its an amazing invention. Having the rubber dam on meant no specks of amalgam flying into your mouth and making you gag... or disgusting bleach getting stuck at the back of your throat and then gagging and accidentally swallowing some (both things that have happened to me in the past). Also somehow even though they weren't invasive at all with suction tubes, my mouth was completely dry. I've had problems with saliva build up with my general dentist even with their invasive suctioning. The whole procedure was painless and felt like it really flew by even though it really took about an hour. Dr. Yu explained what he did and what to expect afterwards. His staff even called to check up on me. This guy is great at what he does and I'll be sure to refer him to my friends who might be in need of an endodontist. I was pretty skeptical of Dr. Yu before I got the treatment done because of his one star review but after my experience, I know that review has no merit.
