Digital X-rays offer a huge advantage in early detection and preventive services. Advanced image manipulation and analysis, for example, allows your doctor to detect early stages of gum disease through recognition of bone level changes, or by evaluating the results against a previous treatment.
An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Using an intraoral camera allows patients to better understand their dental needs by seeing what the dentist sees and then having it explained.
Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.

WOW ! George S here, and I can't say how much I was so impressed ! I'm 71, and can honestly say, I have never been to the dentist and been so satisfied in my life. I could go on and on ... on how great this entire team at the Santa Fee location are ! But my #1 most positive thing I can say is Dr Rachel Young made this all possible ! Thank you, I hope everyone has as great experiences that I have had ... It's not an easy game these days ...

While the staff is very nice, the information they give out is not accurate. It looks like they are just trying to find ways to make as much money as possible. After getting a second opinion on my X-Rays they took, I was told I almost lost $2500+ if I had listened to their advice, not to mention 2 hours in time in unnecessary dental work.

AMAZING! Everyone was so kind and helpful from start to finish. Dr. Yung made me feel so comfortable throughout the entire visit. I knew exactly what I was paying for prior to starting any procedures. After seeing all of the mixed reviews, I knew I had to write one of my own just to say how positive my experience was. Cannot wait to come back!

I had to find a new dentist when I moved here 18 months ago. Everything that I have had done at Encinitas Smiles has been great. They made a new crown for me in a matter of hours, which made the whole process as easy and painless as possible.

Great experience at this dentist. Dr. Lau and his team are simply the BEST! I have been a patient at Encinitas Smiles Dentistry for two years now and the service has always been top notch. I recently had a 21-year old filling come loose. Because the filling was quite large I needed a crown the second go around. I was incredibly scared to have this procedure done. I was nervous about having a prosthetic tooth and any further complications that might arise from it. I was fearful of the pain during surgery and frightened I would need a root canal. Dr. Lau is truly amazing. Not only is he a dentist, but a psychologist too (not really but he could be). He spent so much time walking me through my dental charts, laying out the procedure in detail and explaining the reasoning behind the need for a dental crown. He genuinely took all of my concerns into consideration. When the time came for the procedure, he was very gentle with the anaesthetic injections. The needles are usually the worst part of it all. I am happy to say that I didn't even feel them being injected. At one point I needed a little more numbing and Dr. Lau was on it. The whole experience was painless, fast, and yielded great results. This dentist is clean and has all of the latest tech. They use the CEREC system for making same-day laser-perfect porcelain crowns. I must say that my crown fits perfectly. I cannot tell the difference between it and my real teeth. The top feels a little smooth when I touch it with my tongue, but other than that it looks and feels identical. I am currently undergoing the Invisalign process with Dr. Lau as well. I have just a few weeks left. The results are already amazing!! In just four months Dr. Lau has corrected my smile. The dental hygienists in this office are phenomenal. They are thorough and gentle. I have had many cleanings here and my gums have felt fantastic after each one. This dentist has always been reasonable with cost too. Kate, one of the front desk receptionists, is extremely friendly and great with billing. I have never had any complaints. I have NEVER felt overcharged or taken advantage of. In fact, this is the best dental care at such a fair price I have ever had. Thanks for saving my gums, my teeth and for making me want to smile again!

Had a crown put on my tooth in December 2017 by Dr. Lau, 1.5 years later had to get a root canal due to the crown not been sealed properly( saliva and bacteria entered my gum through to a small opening, and that caused a tooth infection) had to pay 1200$ for the procedure, and now I need a new crown. Waiting to see if Dr. Lau will redo my crown for free(hopefully is done right this time), or what they you do to fix this problem. I will update my review after my consultation on Monday, August 26th 2019.

Became a new patient this weekend and my first visit went really well. The team has a great workflow and everyone was an A+ in customer service. Finding the right place with nice and trustworthy people can be hard but today I was blessed Dr.Lau was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G he walked me through the process... every step. He listens well to your concerns and he is calming and communicates clearly to help you make decisions. Honestly everyone here is super sweet and kind, I didn't' feel nervous or anxious during my visit. Shawna office manager is wonderful. She went over the check-in process, payment, and scheduling of my next cleaning. She was very informative, making sure she answered all my questions and went over financial breakdown. I was definitely impressed, 5 star customer service. GREAT JOB The hygienist Hayley performed quality work, she is super nice, extremely skilled, patient, knowledgeable and professional and made my teeth feels amazing. She was calm, very detailed about what she was going to do and continued to talk me through what she was doing, so I felt at ease. Hayley, You are awesome thanks for a great experience. Definitely refer all my friends and family. The office is high tech. I would usually have wait days for the crown and have to leave the office with a temporary crown. Not today!!! I was in the office and out of the office. Back staff Miguel and Anthony went above and beyond to make sure I had great time during my visit and they helped me a lot to choose best matching shade for my crown, they made my crown's anatomy as closed as possible to my original tooth, I am very happy with outcome thank you for being patient with me you guys are the best!!I almost forgot that I was at the dentist!
