Dr. John Davis is an Encinitas native, graduating from La Costa Canyon High School in 1997. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In June of 2010 he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S.) from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Upon graduation he was commissioned into the United States Navy as a Lieutenant and was accepted into a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Federal Health Care Center Great Lakes, IL., gaining additional training in oral surgery, restorative dentistry, periodontics and endodontics.
After completion of this program in 2011 Dr. Davis accepted three-year orders to a Naval Branch Health Clinic in Sasebo, Japan. For his service in Sasebo Dr Davis received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Dr. Davis enjoyed his time serving his country and is now enjoying being back in Encinitas and providing dental care in his hometown. After working alongside Dr Dennis Marshall, Dr Davis is looking forward to continuing to provide patient focused dental care as owner of Encinitas Dental Group. In his spare time Dr. Davis enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, mountain biking, skiing and dirt bike riding.

As a practice, we believe that preventative care and patient education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide dental health care vs. disease care. Thats why we focus on thorough exams checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary, as well as educating our patients on the best ways to care for their teeth at home.
To protect our patients, and staff, we maintain infection control standards recommended by the American Dental Association (ADA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
We understand how uneasy some patients feel about dental visits, and its human nature to avoid what makes us feel uncomfortable. We are dedicated to making your time at Encinitas Dental Group as relaxing as possible, so you can receive the care you need to keep your smile healthy for years to come.

Dr. Davis is a fantastic dentist. He is extremely personable, kind, very skilled and very knowledgable. I've seen him a lot this year and I couldn't recommend him more highly. The same goes for his staff: they are all wonderful as well and you can tell everybody really cares about the patients. If you're looking for a dentist I highly recommend Dr. Davis and his group. They also have TVs on the ceilings which is amazing and I genuinely have a nice time every time I go there.

Encinitas Dental Group is excellent. The people are on top of it. Scheduling is easy, they are adhering to COVID protocol and I felt safe and relaxed during my cleaning. The office is clean and open so you can distance while moving through to your chair. My hygienist is Nancy and she is meticulous, every millimeter of my teeth are cleaned. Each time I visit I leave feeling refreshed and healthier. She's the best I've experienced in my 30+ years of Dental care. Dr Davis is down to earth and been there to help each time. If you are looking for a professional, clean, no-sale dentist practice then Encinitas Dental Group is for you.

I cannot express my thankfulness for the Davis Family. I've got a kiddo that is a special needs child. From the minute they worked with us from when my kid was little and then even until today - they are a family - and the associate staff they've hired around them are just excellent. Parents & anyone who needs help - especially with our special needs community - please know you will be taken care of.

Like everyone on the planet, i never enjoyed seeing a dentist. that has all changed now, after meeting Dr. John. he filled a rather large area of decay on my front tooth, and i never felt a thing. he is so proficient and dialed in with his anesthetics, i didnt even feel the septocaine shot. this was a truly eye-opening experience. his assistant, Jan, is just amazing with her ability to keep that burning "tooth dust" smell down with her water jet. literally everything i was worried about, was handled so perfectly, so that all of my past concerns ended up being nullified by John and Jan. simply amazing dental practice, and superb dentist. no more fear!! cannot recommend enough.

I absolutely despise having dental work done based on some very poor past experiences however I was compelled to write this review based on my visit to the Encinitas Dental Group. Dr. John, Janet and staff did a great job and made me feel very comfortable throughout my visit. I would highly recommend this dental group from start to finish!

I had only been to a dentist once since moving to the area 5 years ago because, quite frankly, the anxiety is real. But Dr Davis and Nancy (who did my cleaning) were both so kind, efficient and reassuring that they put me at ease. I had a great cleaning and exam, and can say I will definitely be back in 6 months.
