His passion and work ethic were instilled in me as a child. I became the first female in my family to graduate from an American university and embark on my career as a dentist with one goal: the wellbeing and happiness of my patients.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, I lived in New York City where I completed my surgical-based residency program. There began the process of learning how to manage dental patients anxiety and fears of dentistry and turning it around into a positive and fun experience.
Following my residency, I needed to find a city that I could call home. I visited my best friend who was living in Chicago at the time and instantly fell in love with the city. There was no place like Chicago in the world; a perfect combination of big-city lifestyle and Midwestern humility and spirit.
I practiced in Chicago for several years until my husbands job took us on an incredible adventure to Dubai. It was an eye-opening experience where I was lucky to meet people from countless countries and cultures, and travel around the world. I gained a perspective that cannot be replicated and forged life-long friendships.
In another unexpected twist, we returned back to where it started, Chicago, and finally settled in the wonderful Northshore community. I came back with a vision and a goal: to create a new dental practice that is a reflection of who I am (passionate, caring, loving), what I care deeply about (my patients, friends, and family), and my amazing life journey. After a few years of searching, I was blessed to find the perfect space and finally started to turn my dream into a reality. And from that vision, Enamel & Root was created.

I was referred to Dr. Alia by my childrens' pediatric dentist. I said that I wanted a dentist who wouldn't try to sell me, scare me, or judge me. If that's on your menu, too, you MUST schedule an appointment with her. First, she and her staff are so wonderfully welcoming. It's like going to visit old friends. Second--they don't judge AT ALL. I hadn't been to the dentist since mid-pandemic, and Alia was so understanding and nurturing. Third, they accommodate!!! I went in for my first visit with a tight schedule--leaving town in three days and in emergency need of an extraction, cleaning, and a few other things. Alia and Yasmin were magicians--they did EVERYTHING in just one visit. If you are worried about billing, don't be. Alia sat down with me and talked me through what insurance would cover and helped me come up with an easy payment plan for the rest. I left the office after almost three hours of dental work feeling the happiest and most relieved I've ever felt.

Easy to get an appointment and felt very taken care of before, during, and after my first appointment. The entire team is thorough, passionate, and helpful. Very glad to have found my new dentist!

Super Friendly & On Time Very Clean - feel like you're going to a spa I was the first person in my family to go to Enamel & Root and now the rest of my family is going there . Awesome with kids!

I am so very sad to post this 1 star because I really liked Dr.Alia as a dentist-- however tonight marks the third!! Filling she did for me that has fallen out. I really wish this wasn't the case, but both top and bottom fillings have fallen out. It's sad.

Dr. Alia & staff are amazing! I had suffered through having a ridiculously uncomfortable lingual bar on the back of my bottom teeth for almost 20 years. Dr. Alia was able to find a much better option to finally free me from this burden! She removed the bar and the horrible blobs of cement, and had me fit with Vivera Retainers instead! It has LITERALLY been life changing!!!! The retainers only have to be worn at night, and they are super comfortable and easy to sleep with. I'm so much happier!! From my regular cleanings to this awesome experience, I highly recommend Enamel and Root for your dental care!

This was my first time at Enamel & Root and highly recommended by my neighbor. Right away you notice how clean the office is, the nice design of the space and everyone smiling. Dr. Alia was so sweet, she listened and did a great job. The hygienist did an extremely thorough cleaning. As soon as I left the office I raved to my friends who live in the area to seek out this dental office immediately. I was beyond pleased and can't wait to go back for a cleaning.

This was my first time at Enamel & Root and highly recommended by my neighbor. Right away you notice how clean the office is, the nice design of the space and everyone smiling. It's been a long time since you've been to the dentist, and you really need to go. Dentists scare the hell out of you, but you're getting older, and you know deep down that your expensive spin brush can only do so much by itself before time catches up and mangles that grill your parents paid so much to straighten when you were in middle school. Trust me. I know. I see you. I am you. I ran away from the big, electronic, reclining chair for years and searched Google exhaustively for the elusive "perfect" dentist: someone who knew it all, who was up on the latest research and used the latest tools and techniques, but most importantly, someone who wasn't going to judge my lengthy absence from proper dental exams or. . .you know. . .violently rip my face apart with that hook (it could happen). Good news! Your search is over! Today's the day you call Dr. Alia and her amazing staff (or book online) and get back to flashing those chompers without any fear or anxiety. To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It had been years since my last trip to the dentist, but I remember one thing in particular. Never before had the practicing dentist greeted me at the door with a big smile to welcome me to her office. Dr. Alia and her staff offered water and coffee while I filled out my first-time paperwork, and once I was ready to begin, she stayed with me throughout the rest of the process. As it was my first visit, I don't know if that will happen every time, but never before has a dentist greeted me at the door and stuck with me for cleaning (which she performed herself) and all consultations and "extra work" thereafter (yeah. . .I had a couple cavities). X-rays were evaluated almost immediately, so Dr. Alia got to her gameplan right away. She and the staff also offered me noise-cancelling headphones multiple times (I declined because the conversation was every bit as pleasant as the dental care) and also offered to put on music or TV to keep me calm. As she got to work on me, Dr. Alia kept me in the know, step-by-step, and frequently checked to make sure I was OK. At no point was I not OK, and you're going to be just fine, too. Why? Because Dr. Alia is very up-to-date with the latest research and dental technology. Because her office is clean and modern and comforting. Because Dr. Alia and her staff are incredibly kind, empathetic, and funny! But more than all of that, it's clear from moment one that Dr. Alia LOVES WHAT SHE DOES. It's as simple as that. She loves her craft, and she clearly loves working with people and putting big chickens like me at ease. THAT is the kind of dentist you want. So, congratulations! Your wait is over! Book your appointment. You will be so glad you did, and like me, you'll probably be a little sad that you only get to see your dentist every six months. And yes. . .my smile looks hella great now, too.
