Scam dentist. They lie about what you need done so they can upcharge you. Told me I needed a root canal when I had a tiny chip on my tooth. The other dentist I went to said I just needed a filling and didn't see why anyone would say I need a root canal. Also told me the x-rays would be covered and I get a bill in mail. Thank God I didn't go with the root canal with them. He said he would do it right then and would be out of pocket for $2k.

I went for preventive cleaning with 100% insurance coverage but they changed me additional 100 bucks stating they did special cleaning which I never asked. They should have asked me before doing special cleaning for additional $100. Worst experience!!

Avoid this dentist. I could go on and on about the problems I have experienced with this place but it's pretty much the same as all of the other 1 star reviews.

This office is a complete scam. Do yourself a favor and read the reviews. There is a very good reason they are rated so poorly. They told my son two of his baby teeth were too long and needed pulled. He is under orthodontic care, and they completely disagreed. They also said he had a cavity and I had two. For the nearly two hours we were in the office, every single patient was told they had an issue that needed an expensive follow up. Highly unlikely. They told me I owed $106 when we were leaving, but their credit card machine was broken. Bill came today and was $196. None of the fees they told me in office matched the invoice I just received. Take extreme caution when dealing with this office. Again, read through the reviews.

I cannot stress enough how much you need to avoid this place. I had a crown fall off and they were the only place open who could take me right away. Dr. Carnevali completely ignored everything I said to him, hurt me enough to make me cry, and it cost me $800 for them to just replace my crown that day. My second appointment to get the temporary replaced cost another $800, IIRC. When I got my EOB back from insurance, they said I only owed $100 total for the whole two appointments. When I tried to talk to the front desk about it, she was incredibly rude, told me I didn't know what I was talking about, and hung up on me. This was like five years ago now and I still get mad every time I drive past there. And you can see from other reviews, literally nothing has changed about this place! Also, when I eventually saw a new dentist, he couldn't get over how bad the permanent crown was that Carnevali put on me.

Absolute worst place you can go. Staff is rude. Dentist and hygienist do horrible work. It is borderline unsafe because of the lack of cleanliness of patient care areas and medical instrumentation. I went in for a crown update /change. I had an unnecessary significant piece of my gum cut out that wouldn't heal. I couldn't eat solid foods, I even lost weight. I got nothing prescribed to help prevent infection or anything to help with the healing process. I had to go to another practice for aid. Never went back because I was too afraid they would hurt me more. The other practice I went to said they had done unnecessary damage. Don't go here. Don't bring your children here. It's unsafe. I don't know who does surveillance for safe practice on this place but they should def get a visit from DOH.

I've seen far too many disrespectful reviews and I'd like to provide a more balanced perspective on Emmert Dental. I've been going to this office on and off for nearly twenty years. I have advanced gum disease and have had over a dozen root canals performed over the last decade. Most of these have been emergencies involving incredibly painful abscessed teeth. I cannot say enough about how wonderfully Dr Carnevali and his office staff handle these emergencies. They will fit you in quickly and minimize the time spent suffering. Dr Carnevali is empathetic, intuitive and has an excellent chair side manor in these situations. Michelle and Jo Marie are both very kind and make scheduling a breeze. Is the place a bit more expensive than some other offices? Perhaps. Do they need to completely overhaul their billing methods? Yes. Those are my only gripes though. The bottom line is that Dr Carnevali and his staff are far more skilled than they're being represented online. If you are somebody that only needs the dentist for an annual teeth cleaning maybe this isn't the spot for you. If you are someone with dental issues that require top notch operative care then this place is absolutely for you. I strongly endorse Emmert Dental and urge you to look past some of these mean spirited reviews.

I'm not sure why this place has all kinds of bad reviews. I was very skeptical about going to my appt because that reason. Upon arriving to my appt the ladies at the front desk were very nice. One of them even went above and beyond to help with my payment issues. I saw the Orthodontist first who seemed to be very thorough when doing my exam. He explained everything I would need to get the services I wanted. He listed everything out and wrote it down for me including the cost. I then seen the hygentist who also seemed knowledgeable and was also kind. The dentist examed my teeth as well and told me I would need fillings and a root canal. I do believe this to be true as he took pictures of all the teeth that would need filled and showed me. I declined the root canal as I don't feel I need it at this moment and also really can't afford. He never tried to pressure me into getting it. He did recommend I get a deep clean on my gums, but I feel like it's their job to recommend to you what they feel you need. But in no way did I feel pressured to do anything. I haven't had to deal with billing yet, and if there is any problems I will update. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

I just received a bill in the mail from emmert dental in Pittsburgh. I went there couple of months ago to get checked for a chipped filling. First thing the ceiling was leaking which i though to be not hygienic or safe for a place i m supposed to trust with my teeth. They had bunch of towels to minimize the leak but it looked dirty. A dentist came in poked me with a cleaning tool and said "you need a root canal and a crown" which was surprising since i know i just chipped the filling. They told me that with insurance it ll will cost me about $2700, money that -to be honest-i don't have. So i told them i ll need to think about it. The money they were asking me to pay vs the hygienic state of the office was very discouraging. The front desk assistant gave me an appointment and i said i ll see what i can do. I asked her if i had to pay anything she said no. It was also mentioned on their website that new patients were not to pay anything in their first visit. I received the first bill which was $75 approximately and they wanted me to send them my card info instead of paying online.I was going through a rough patch and decided after getting my new job last weeks that i ll pay it even if it s unfair. The bill they sent me today is of $374. Is this legal? How did the bill go $300 up?

This is not an honest business. They run a scam through the billing.

I was only there once. The dentist wouldn't allow me to get a word in. He insisted I get things that are not covered by insurance. He also insisted that in order to extract teeth he has to do a bone Graf or he won't extract. This isn't covered by insurance either. I am extremely dissatisfied. I have filed one complaint with my insurance and will be filing one with the BBB and anyone else.

Very aggressive/rude hygienist and all these people do is try to get your money. I honestly felt like the dentist was trying to get me to do everything in the office, whitening, fillings, orthodontist, deep cleaning, you name it and he tried to me get to make appointments for it. Never showed my sister and I our X-rays and told us both we have cavities and needed fillings, later went to an orthodontist and were told we do not have cavities. Got a bill a few weeks later for over $600 and were charged for fluoride treatments which we paid for in office!!! Do not waste your time here.

I needed work done that required two appointments. After the first appointment they stopped returning contact and would not acknowledge my attempts to schedule the second I was left with a gaping hole in my tooth for two months while i tried to find another dentist and get the insurance worked out. Refusing to finish dental work you started is immoral, and ghosting the client you screwed over is just pathetically cowardly. Add to this the terrible attitude (and horrible BO) of the dentist. Horrible experience, Horrible people. Please, if you need dental work, GO ANYWHERE ELSE

Beware !! Worst dentist in the state ! I had a tooth pulled a year ago and paid in full after I was finished that day. Since then I have received 4 different bills for 4 different amounts. Every time I call and they say oh your paid in full ignore it. I had them send me a letter saying I was paid in full. Now I receive a call from a collection agency they turned me in this month for a " bone-graph" I never received . They keep billing the insurance for things a year after . Biggest scammers !!! They should be shut down. Will be filling a complaint with my insurance for fraud. Anyone thinking of coming here beware !!!!!
