Dr. John grew up in Indianapolis, IN, and received his bachelors degree from DePauw University. He attended Indiana University Dental School in Indianapolis where he discovered his passion for pediatric dentistry.
He continued his dental education by completing his pediatric dental residency at the Indiana School of Dentistry and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. During his residency, he was selected to participate in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program and during his second year, he served as Chief Resident. Upon completion of his training, he received the prestigious Ralph E. McDonald Scholar Award for his outstanding performance in pediatric dentistry.
After his residency, Dr. John was selected for the Indiana Dental Associations AIR Leadership Program and now serves as the chairman of the Infant Oral Health Subcommittee for the Indiana Dental Association. He is part-time faculty at Riley Hospitals Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program, and he is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. John serves on the local Girls, INC board, the Indianapolis Tennis and Education Board as well as the Indiana University Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Board.
Dr. John and his wife, Kaitlin reside in Carmel, Indiana. They have one daughter, Madison, and two dogs, Miley and Penny. John and Kaitlin met playing tennis and Kaitlin is a kindergarten teacher who shares a love for serving and working with children. They enjoy staying active outdoors, spending time with family, and learning how to parent a one-year-old.

The staff here always go the extra mile to make the kids feel as little anxiety as possible about being at the dentist. Dr. John and hygienist Andrea are absolute rock stars with young kids. We drive for an hour to use this dentist, that is how much we appreciate their service.

Dr. John Emhardt and his staff are the #1 Pediatric Dentistry in the state of Indiana!! They are compassionate in providing efficient care to my children. I will highly recommend him to anyone. I am very blessed. Thank you Emhardt Pediatric! :)

Excellent place for children and teens. They are so good with them. They have TV's mounted above the chairs, keeping the kid's attention which really helps calm them. The atmosphere is so friendly and their teams run so smoothly together. Highly recommend this dentistry.

I just wanted to say I had the best experience at the dentist today ! I called to make my 1 year olds first appointment when they told me they were booked out until May. I thought it sounded a little crazy but now I can see why! They got us in today though last minute. I had to bring a double stroller and my 3 month old with me and everyone was so kind and accommodating. Sometimes going somewhere with 2 screaming kids near their nap time you know it's going to be bad bad especially the dentist, but the staff and Dr. John were patient, friendly and kind to us. I even had to nurse the little one in the middle of her sister's visit and they gave me time and privacy. I would recommend to anyone. Hopefully I don't have to bring two babies next time though

Dr John and all of this staff is so friendly! My 4 year old loved him and everyone that helped! They are booked up but got us in as quick as they could!

Staff is nice, but it's very difficult to get in there if you have an emergency. My son lost a filling and is in pain, but they wouldn't get him in to even review the tooth for a month, I already had a scheduled appointment which is why it was only a month for them to see him otherwise it would have been 3 months. After reviewing the tooth I would have to schedule another appointment for them to fix the tooth, which would have been a few more months to get him in. Overall - don't have a child in pain that needs to see a dentist quickly otherwise they are great.

Such awesome and caring staff!! It was my daughters first dentist visit and they made her feel so comfortable and explained everything so she would understand also! 100% will recommended to everyone I know with little ones!

The staff is so amazing and so caring, all my fears & children's fears of the dentist went right out the door as soon as we walked in! I'm so glad I found such a great place to take my children to & would recommend them to any and everyone with children! And a huge thank yu to Janet for being so nice and great and getting them both in within just a couple days!

Absolutely AMAZING dentist and staff! Both of my daughters go there, one of which has always been terrified of dentists. Both girls love going in there. One of my daughters has a heart condition and has always had to go to Riley Pediatric Dentistry so I'm very thankful that we have found a wonderful dentist so much closer to home that can accommodate with her condition! The staff is always so friendly as well!

Emhardt pediatric Denistry is amazing they did my daughters entire procedure within an hour 8 teeth and he he dis an amazing job theyre perfect i literally brag about her smile now n she wasnt scared they are definatly my entire familys new dentist
