Dr. LeCornu knew that she wanted to have a positive impact on peoples quality of life from a young age. Her positive experience with her own orthodontic treatment when she was a teenager propelled her towards orthodontics as a career. She enjoyed the increased confidence that she gained after her orthodontic treatment transformed her life, and she felt strongly that she wanted to offer the same life-changing care to people one day.
A Colorado native, Dr. LeCornu attended the University of Denver. While there, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry while minoring in Psychology. She then went on to the prestigious Harvard School of Dentistry, where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Afterwards, she was accepted into one of the top orthodontic programs in the country, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she completed a three-year orthodontic residency and graduated with her Masters in Orthodontics.
After practicing orthodontics for a time in California, Dr. LeCornu met Dr. Steven Gilbertson of Santa Clarita, CA. Dr. Gilbertson was ready to take on a partner, and she has been practicing with him since May, 2014. A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. LeCornu is one of only 25% of orthodontists in the nation to be board-certified. Dr. LeCornu is one of only six-board certified orthodontists in the Santa Clarita Valley, and the only female board-certified orthodontist in the area.
Dr. LeCornu is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the California Dental Association, and the San Fernando Dental Society. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, and she lectures and presents cases to students, as well at continuing education meetings. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Dr. Megan loves the outdoors and enjoys living in sunny California where she can enjoy the outdoors all year! In her free time you can find her snowboarding at Mammoth Mountain in the winter, going to the beaches and paddle boarding in the summer. She loves camping and is always up for a new adventure. She is always looking for travel tips from her patients! Dr. Megan has 2 dogs, a golden retriever named Winnie and a golden-shepherd mix named Teddy. You may find her on the hiking trails with her 2 dogs in Santa Clarita and the local trails!
She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and keeping up with her kids crazy sports schedule. She loves to travel, go to country concerts, attend sporting events, listen to podcasts, working out , and going to the beach.
Meet Ashley, our Office Manager/Treatment Coordinator. Ashley has been in the Dental field for 9 years. She loves being a part of the process in boosting the confidence people have in their smiles. When patients come into our office, they feel self conscious and nervous to get started. When they complete their treatment with us, the confidence they feel is life transforming. Its so rewarding to be a part of that process.
She enjoys spending time with her two little girls Brooklyn & Berkley, and her husband Anthony. As a family their hobbies are camping in the dunes and riding in their razor. Kristine is very artistic and enjoys drawing, coloring, and doing anything creative.
She came to the United States from Guatemala when she was 19 and loves it here! Claudia loves taking annual trips with her husband and daughter to different countries to learn & experience their cultures.
Maddie enjoys traveling to the beautiful state of Oregon to visit and spend time with her family. She is happily married to her husband Derek and has a fur baby kitty cat named Logan. They are currently expecting their first baby, its a boy!
He has been an orthodontic assistant for 10 years. He started as a lab technician making wire retainers and appliances. The thing that appeals to Braulio in Orthodontics is seeing the positive changes in patients smiles and lives.
Dr. Gilbertson. LeCornu and Dr. Weber have a combine 75 years of orthodontic experience and have been awarded Santa Claritas Best Orthodontist for more than decade by the Santa Clarita Valley Signal and the Daily News.
Dr. LeCornu is one out of six board-certified orthodontists in the Santa Clarita Valley, and the only female board-certified orthodontist in the area. This means that after a thorough written exam, she then presented finished cases to the American Board of Orthodontics for expert evaluation.
This time-consuming and rigorous process prevents many orthodontists from attaining board certification. Additionally, the Embrace Your Smile Orthodontics team is highly trained and specialized, as each staff member also receives regular continuing education.
No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems.
Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment.
Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient care, and to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients.
Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable.
Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.

The staff are fantastic and my last few years of coming to these people have been a breeze. I never had braces as a kid, but these pearly whites are nice and straight now. Comfortable atmosphere and great results. When my kiddos need braces, I know where to look.

I called Embrace Your Smile to make an appointment for my son and a lady answered, she took all my information and said someone would get back with me. Two weeks later, I called back, they did not call. A woman was apologetic for the lack of communication and scheduled my son for his appointment. They called a day in advance to confirm the appointment, saying it was at 2:15pm (My son doesnt get out of school unit 3:15pm) I was shocked on the time and told the lady "Are you sure its at 2:15pm? I have never scheduled my kids for any appointment during their school hours (I sure wasn't going to start now)" She said "Yes, I have it in front of me".I told her there was no way I could make the appointment on time. Her response was to get there asap from picking him up. I ended up getting him there at 3pm due to his school changing that week of his appointment, so his hours changed (He now gets out at 2:15pm). The receptionist said, "I don't think they will see you because you were late" I explained to her my conversation with the lady yesterday and she asked me to wait while she talked to the orthodontic to see if they could do my sons initial exam. She came back saying "No, Im sorry, we can't because you were pretty late". She wanted to reschedule, but why would I after 2 events with them? The lack of calling me back, then the day before my appointment they should have rescheduled not tell me to come in ASAP only to turn me away and waste my time and my kids time. I would not go here. I found an amazing Orthodontic off Newhall Ranch Road and as of yet, I couldn't be happier. Their office is welcoming and the staff is very professional and their communication is excellent.
