We love working with our hands. There is sculpture and care involved in our practice on both a medical level and an aesthetic level. We will always aim to consider the simplest, most conservative options first. We can make an impact on the look of your smile by using conservative ways of replacing stained, chipped, missing or worn teeth, even before considering any more involved options. We listen and work closely with our patients to help achieve their optimal goals.
Dr. Emily Ro was born in Seoul, South Korea. Her family immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina at age 1 and then relocated to Queens, NY at age 10. She quickly assimilated to New York City cultures and lifestyles. Dr. Ro attended Stuyvesant High School, and she studied piano for 12 years. She was awarded a full scholarship to NYU, where she majored in Anthropology.
Dr. Ro was inspired to study Dentistry by her childhood Orthodontist, who was not only a great clinician, but also a great artist. 'He made the visits fun and had a beautiful waiting room full of personal artwork. I was always fond of art, music and science, and found that dentistry combined all of my favorite subjects.'
She completed her dental degree at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, followed by a general practice residency at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Ro then dedicated three additional years to become trained in the specialty of Prosthodontics. Her expertise ranges from reconstructing a single broken down tooth to match the rest of the smile, addressing esthetically critical cases with the most conservative options first, and to rehabilitating severely worn-down dentitions with a full mouth rehabilitation. All cases will be addressed with the most predictable outcomes in mind.
Dr. Ro prides herself on helping to maintain the existing health of her patients, and her approach will always be to approach everyone as she would her own family and friends. She enjoys her chosen profession as much as spending precious time with her husband and her children, and her rambunctious Schnoodle Mochi.
Dr. Kim was born and raised in Argentina until she was 10, when she moved to NY. She is tri-lingual and has always been interested in languages and cultures. She attended Bronx High School of Science and later New York University for both her undergraduate and dental studies.
While at NYU College of Dentistry she excelled and was accepted to the Oral Surgery Honors program where she received training in advanced surgical cases and participated in hospital trauma and reconstruction cases in the OR. She also followed her love of community service and travel by participating in dental outreaches to remote parts of Tanzania, India and Nicaragua.

This place came recommended by a handful of colleagues and I can see why. My visit to Emagen was truly wonderful from start to finish. The team is warm and patient and has great bedside manner. Dr Urtula, who I saw on the day, is super knowledgable and insightful. I get why people in the reviews are so complimentary about them. This was easily one of the better dental visits I've experienced.

I've been seeing Dr. Urtula & hygienist Ecaterina for 3.5+ years and am so happy with them as my dental team. Emagen Dental is always extremely timely, and both Dr. Urtula & Ecaterina are gentle and have great bedside manner, staying to answer any questions without rushing off to the next patient. They have a TV and over the ear headphones set up to watch Netflix in each room, and vaseline is applied & reapplied, during procedures/cleanings. Highly recommend to all!

Can't recommend Emagen Dental highly enough - truly great all-around. The team is incredibly organized, responsive, and flexible. Scheduling is always easy and you never have to wait more than a minute or two past your appointment time. Dr. Urtula is the most engaged dentist I've ever had - always takes time to thoroughly explain what he's doing and why. Highly recommend.

Dr. Urtula is the most thorough and gentle dentist I've ever been to. Cleanliness and technology in the office are outstanding. Unlike other places I've gone, they never try to sell you on optional procedures. Been going here for years and I've never paid a cent out of pocket. The office staff are all friendly and it's always easy to schedule an appointment. Highly recommend!

The BEST dentist. Very easy to schedule via email, they have Hulu you get to watch while you have your appointment and all the staff are really friendly. Dr. Chau is wonderful! He spends the time to talk to you, leaves time for questions, and never tries to push any services. Highly recommend!!!

Been going here for many years. The office is clean, efficient, very easy to communicate with (email, text, call), and the staff is extremely nice. Dr. Urtula has been my dentist and he is really nice, takes time to explains things and the office never tries to push for a procedure when it's not needed. There has never been a long wait when you come on time. It's also nice that during the treatments you can watch some streaming services on Roku with a provided wireless headset as well.

The most outstanding dental team in Manhattan, and I've been to a few offices! I floss every night and invest in my hygiene. Thankful for top-notch care from Dr. Michael Chau. He is fantastic at always sharing insights into my dental health, gladly going over each concern. I'm floored that he does the thorough cleaning himself - perfect because it means he truly knows the health of my teeth. Shout-out to all and the front desk team for keeping me coming back! I just went in for a cleaning that I had been putting off due to the pandemic. I was blown away by how seriously the office is taking safety. There were air filters all over the office and even a vacuum tube positioned near your mouth during the cleaning to capture aerosols. I went straight back to my exam room and everyone was wearing PPE. I felt as comfortable as you possibly can right now, and commend them for setting such a high bar.

I moved away from NYC for 2 years, changed my insurance, saw a mediocre dentist, and came running back to Emagen (bought diff insurance.) I WILL NEVER LEAVE EMAGEN AGAIN! They are SIMPLY the best people / dentists out there. They take care of you like family, and are always doing the right thing, whether it's explaining coverage or providing you with a cleaning. Best cleaning I've ever had, so gentle as well as thorough, and simply phenomenal all around. I see Dr. Brian Urtula but have heard great things about every dentist at this practice. Dr. Urtula actually takes the time to explain the root conditions of any dental issue / question you have. It's rare (or perhaps even impossible) to be IMPRESSED and feel LOVE for your dentist, but somehow this happens every time I'm there. Thank you EMAGEN!

I went to their office for 3 years and I had such a great experience all the time. They are very honest, never ever push me to do anything and all the treatments I did was smoothy. Dr. To and Dr. Chou are simply amazing. The staff here is kind, patient and professional. I have been coming here for over 6 years and can't imagine going anywhere else. The Dr. Most importantly they managed to abate my fear of the dentist.

Just got out of my second cleaning with Emagen. Super impressed with the whole office. Everyone I've talked to there is very friendly and enjoyable to be around. The cleanings themselves are more comfortable than usual (you can even watch Netflix if you'd like). They take time to explain what they're doing and give helpful tips about brushing/flossing.
