We love Leslie! Such a great family dentistry, sad to see Leslie go. Looking forward to finding a new dentist with a similar vibe that Leslie brought.

Not family dentistry. My wife has been going here for 10 years and after this most recent experience will not be returning. Our 3 year old was going to be seen, and as most nervous kids was crying. They were not throwing any tantrums just nervous. Dr. Chad came in and told her our children would not be seen until they could 'behave' during the appointment, and that he didn't want to be the one to 'ruin their dental experience'. This was not at all done in a kind way, and she was made to feel they were a major inconvenience to the office. Our son left very upset wondering what he did wrong to be made to leave, and is still very worried he did wrong. We very much hope he doesn't go to future visits with the fear he is going to get us kicked out. Essentially ruining his 'dental experience'. Not wanting to see children is fine, but don't proclaim to be "Family Dentistry" if you have no intention of seeing them. Be careful if you plan on taking children scared of the dentist here. It could become a major waste of your time, and be an upsetting experience for your kids. Incredibly saddened and disappointed by this experience. This doctor showed no compassion or understanding to children. You would be much better off elsewhere. This was my son's fourth visit. Never again.

On 18-Jul-2018 I went to Elkins Family Dentistry to be examined for excruciating pain coming from my tooth. I paid the exam fee and X-Rays were taken. Mrs. Carrie Ann met with me and confirmed that I had an abscess tooth. She then explained that she wasn't going to extract the tooth because it was cracked, so she didn't feel comfortable removing it herself; she preferred to have an oral surgeon extract it. I was fine with that. The appointment was made for 2 weeks out, which I requested (due to finances). Here is where my complaint begins. I explained to Mrs. Carrie Ann that I had recently visited the ER for this toothache. I was prescribed a low dosage of penicillin (10 days worth); it helped a little but the pain was still intense. I asked her if she would give me a prescription and/or re-adjust the medication, and she said "NO!" I was taken back by her unwillingness to do anything. I have learned from personal experience that sometimes medications have to be re-adjusted when they're not working. The side of my face was swollen, and I was constantly in tears, as the pain made it difficult to function. Even though Mrs. Carrie Ann could see all this, she refused to give me any help whatsoever. Her rationale was that she didn't want me to become resistant to antibiotics. I've never overused or misused antibiotics because of a pre-existing medical condition I have (I disclosed and explained this to her). I just wanted a prescription that would work better to target the infection and relieve my pain. The problem tooth would be pulled soon. As soon as I left Elkins Family Dentistry I took myself to the ER. The ER doctor saw right away that the side of my face was swollen. She took a look inside my mouth and commented on the swelling of my gums. I explained what happened at Elkins Family Dentistry. The ER doctor prescribed me a slightly higher dosage of antibiotic with an added medication called Clavulanate Potassium. I've been on this medication since Wednesday evening (18-July-2018) and I'm happy to report that the pain has subsided and this medication is clearly targeting my infection. Why could not Mrs. Carrie Ann, who does dentistry for a living, see this? Why was she unwilling to, at the very least, offer something to relieve the intense pain I was in? Anyone who's had an abscess tooth can relate to the excruciating pain they cause. Isn't it a doctor's duty to relieve the suffering of those under their care? A dentist, of all people, who would allow a patient to leave their office in such agonizing and ridiculous pain isn't one I'd recommend to family and friends. *Darlene Trujillo (FKA Ford)
