My son has been going to Dr.Merkler for a few years now and this team is the very best. They are patient, kind, caring and friendly. My son used to dread going to the dentist until we started going to Dr.Merkler. I do not have enough good words to say about everyone on Dr.Merklers team, they truelly are the very BEST. If you aren't bringing your child to this team you absolutely should be :)

My 10 year old daughter loves her as a dentist. As a parent, I like that they are quick easy and explain things in a easy to understand way. So, if you have kids this is the place to go.

I was referred to them by a friend and thought at first that I liked the experience and friendly atmosphere. However, I am very not comfortable with their office policy of not allowing parents to accompany their children into the room with the doctor. One of my children is only 4 years old, after one such visit where he was alone, he was a bit traumatized. At the following visit, he refused to go, so I requested them to allow me to accompany him. They refused to allow me to do so, stating that they found that parents accompanying the child could cause the child to be scared (?!). I think this policy is very concerning, why should parents be cool with leaving their toddler in a room with several strangers and not allow the parent the option of being present. Their refusal to accommodate even in a case such as mine is downright shocking. Would not recommend.

A warning after my friends experience here: Avoid Dr. Merkler in Manasquan! My four year old son went in to have fillings today. His teeth have very little to no enamel from severe reflux as a baby so he now needs multiple cavities filled.......Against my request they did not give my son nitrous for sedation as he is very afraid and jittery at the dentist after having a tooth pulled. He also has sensory processing disorder which makes it even more exaggerated for him.....They simply "forgot to mark his sensory processing disorder and my request for nitrous on his chart". Immediately after he goes back to the room he starts screaming and crying out in pain or fear.....I asked the receptionist three times to check on him because i felt he was not okay. She assured me he was fine that this is "normal" for the second visit. Finally after third time of me saying he is not okay the dental assistant came out and said he's moving around too much and they need to restrain him to finish....I asked what about the nitrous and she replied what nitrous? I said he was supposed to have the nitrous and she said no that's not on the chart. I said yes he's supposed to have that....she goes back again to check and the receptionist than tells me oh they tried to give it to him but he wouldn't take it? So now I'm not sure what's happening to my son.....but my child is still screaming out in terrible pain the entire time. Long story short I asked for the nitrous immediately to finish the fillings. They administered it and he was able to finish. We get home and my son now has broken capillaries all over his neck and shoulders from straining.....they were not there before. I immediately called the office and was told "oh that's normal from crying especially for fair skinned kids". News to me. I called my pediatrician and did a virtual call immediately in which he informed me that's absolutely not from crying it's from straining so much that the blood vessels under the skin broke. His first question was why was there no sedation? Now my son has injuries from his visit and he is traumatized. Upon me questioning the dentist, she had the nerve to take no responsibility upon her call to me, offered no apologies and was not concerned for my sons well being whatsoever. Her only excuse was to say that I should blame myself for him having cavities....never in my life would I allow a child to go into her office.
